Work Text:
It was 7:00. He knew this because the alarm he had set the night before was blaring in his ears. He awoke with a start and looked around to see he had fallen asleep around papers and his laptop. His back hurt from the way he was slumped over his desk. As he moved around, he felt a blanket shift and realized who had put it on him the night before. Thanks Mabel. He thought to himself.
This was nothing new to Dipper Pines, so he got up and got dressed (really this consisted of him putting on a different shirt and calling it good) and going downstairs.
He looked at the calendar on the wall of his and his sisters' shared room and saw that there was only a week left of school. He let out a sigh of relief. Soon he would be back to where he belonged and around those who really got him.
It’s not that he didn’t love home, of course, it was just- different. Here, only his sister had known what happened and understood what it meant when he woke up in the middle of the night screaming. In Gravity falls everyone had been through what they had, even though they weren’t allowed to speak of it. This was comforting to him.
Before he knew it he was downstairs, greeted with smiles and breakfast. His sister’s grin with hope for the end of the school year. Mabel did get along better at school in California, but Dipper could see it in her eyes that she was itching to go back.
With the shared excitement, they packed their things, got on the bus, and drove to school with a bit more pep in their steps.
