Summary:

Shepherd doesn't -want- a new phone, Shepherd doesn't-need- a new phone.

Notes:

Modern/College/Human AU.
Idea from Drakon from the box.

"Shepherd, sitting next to Clayton with a coffee studying early in the morning:
Victoria, walks up: where's Sarnax?
Shepherd: why do yall always ask me where Sarnax is like I'm his keeper-
Clayton, picks up Shepherd's phone and unlocks it: Sarnax is on his way here. Shepherd asked where he was 5 minutes ago." - Drakon

Work Text:

"You should make a lock code for your phone, Mr Morgan."

Shepherd scowled across the table at a nonplussed Clayton. "I don't -wanna-. I'm still not entirely sure I'm gonna keep this phone. There was nothin' wrong with my old one."

"Nothing wrong? They don't -make- flip phones anymore, I don't know how you managed to keep one this entire time."

Clayton rolled his eyes as Victoria walked up, setting her bag and early-morning coffee down on the table between them all.

"Good morning. What...are we upset about so early?"

"Good morning, Miss Isaacs. Shepherd is upset that he can not use his ancient phone anymore."

"I'm not upset about anythin'! Gods above, I just don't need a new gods damn phone!"

Kana smoothly slid into a seat between Victoria and Clayton, raising an eyebrow. "Are you sure it's not because Strahdanya bought it for you? Even if she only did so to make sure we are always able to contact each other?"

Shepherd grumbled, slumping back into his seat and crossing his arms. "....it still makes me feel like she's tryin' to like...buy us out or somethin'."

Victoria rolled her eyes in response. "She has done -nothing- to deserve such suspicion, Mr Morgan. You -know- why she wanted us to be able to stay in contact, and I-"

"Yeah, yeah, I know, I know! Sorry. I'm just... paranoid, alright? I'll... -try-be nicer."

"... I suppose that is as good as I am going to get from you." Victoria took a sip from her coffee, looking around the table. "...where... is Sarnax, Mr Morgan?"

Shepherd threw his hand in the air. "Why do y'all assume I know where he is all the time? I ain't his keeper an' I don't appreciate th-"

Clayton leaned down and scooped up the discarded phone, briefly peeking at the messages.

"....he is on his way here. Mr Morgan asked of his whereabouts five minutes ago."

Cursing softly, Shepherd snatched his phone back, staring at the screen.

"Ok, how the fuck do ya put a lock on this thing....?"
