Light Red Train

Summary:

Akito and Toya finish up a gig in a neighbouring city, and prepare for the journey back home. (Mildly inspired by the balloon arrange of Taikou Train by Yuukisan. AKA thats what i was listening to when i was writing this)

Work Text:

Akito’s body was slick with beads of sweat as he placed himself down in the seat on the train, next to his partner Toya. His face was beat red, and breaths still irregular, deep, and frequent. He balanced his flushed forehead against the soft palm of his hand, and gazed at the urban cityscape he was leaving behind tonight. Neon signs glistening in the moonlight commanded his focus, his eyes darting back and forth between every individual speck of light. As the humid heat of summer was slowly washed away by the cool and refreshing air conditioning, his breaths slowly subsided, and his skin returned to its tanned beige hue. He swiftly ran his fingers through his hair, slightly drenching them in sweat, and then wiped them dry on his tracksuit bottoms.

“Hey, Akito.” Toya beckoned towards the slumping boy.

Akito couldn’t muster any words, and he simply hummed out a concise “Mm…”

“You did great out there today.”

The two of them were on their way home from a big gig as BAD DOGS in a place somewhat far away from their homes. Akito had slept badly the night prior, and thus was thoroughly exhausted.

Akito seemed to ignore Toya’s praise, but he knew full well that he had acknowledged it.

“You don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to, Akito.” Toya reassured him with a tender, loving smile on his face.

Toya’s hand gently crept across the seats of the train to meet with Akito’s left hand, still resting upon the cushioned fabric of the seat. Toya softly rubbed his middle finger across the lengths of Akito’s thumb, like he was giving him a massage. He delicately encroached his hand further onto Akito’s, but noticed his hand jitter a little, and a soft hiss coming from the direction of his face. Toya carefully retracted his hand, and muttered “My bad.” under his breath, accompanied by a slight chuckle.

Akito’s gaze diverted from the glimmering lights outside, and glanced in Toya’s direction. He deeply sighed, and slouched himself against Toya’s arm. His damp hair splayed across Toya’s shoulder, as he stared upwards towards the roof of the train. A disconcerted look was painted across his face, his eyes slowly cascading to a timid closure.

“Hey, Akito. Is something up?”

Akito murmured out a dejected sounding hum.

“Did something happen at the gig? Or are you just tired, Akito?”

Akito sang out another hum, sounding more disgruntled and slightly irritated.

“Alright, alright, I’ll stop asking questions. We can talk tomorrow.”

Akito buried himself further into Toya’s personal space, sidling to the edge of his seat in order to be closer to him, and he rested his hands and forearms against Toya’s chest. He felt the boy’s torso rising and falling along with their now synchronised breaths. Toya lightly wrapped his right arm fully around Akito’s waist, dangling his hand on his stomach.

“Music?” Toya asked, holding out a case of wireless earbuds to Akito.

Akito slightly nodded his head, and took the right earbud from the case.

腹水盆に墓参り

Akito gently closed his eyes.

流れる涙場所でお茶しませんこと

Toya gently stroked Akito’s stomach.

くるくる回る車輪を追いかけて

The two of them gently rested in the other’s embrace.

次の駅まで一眠りでしょ?

And the train gently departed from the station, passing the neon skyline away, returning the two boys back home.
