Chapter 1- Tragedy is a hell of an origin story
The bar was almost bursting at the seams with activity, everywhere you looked was a duo or small group chatting away or possibly getting into trouble.Kurogiri continued diligently wiping down the glasses- no one here was drinking, and he'd cleaned them yesterday, but the motions were comforting nonetheless.
Mr.Compress situated himself onto a bar stool, his mask pushed to the side and showing dark brown eyes a lit with an all too familiar look of mischief."I thought you were intent on keeping Hawks company"? Kurogiri picked up another glass, noticing small fingerprint smudges and narrowing his eyes.
Mister shrugged "He started making out with our resident flameflower- and well, I thought you'd be better company" Kurogiri finished off another glass and placed it back on the shelf "I'm not sure how good of a conversation I can maintain". Without realizing it he'd pulled out a short crystal cup and some marispone cherries and placed them on the table. He was making Misters favorite drink.
The man seemed to realize this and lit up "Well that isn't a no- and besides I have a question". Finishing off the drink he passed it over the bar on a coster "Ask away then-" Mister thanked him and took a small sip before lighting up "Perfect as always" he set the cup back down "Now- You know my past of course- family and legacy has always been a big deal to me right"?
Kurogiri didn't interrupt, but continued cleaning glasses- not knowing what else to do with his hands."I always thought my legacy would be tied to my grandfather, or my career but- look around us" Mister gestured around the bar.
Hawks was practically pinned against the wall talking to Dabi, but both of their expressions were alit with amusement and playful laughter echoed in the room.Magne was chatting with Tokoyami while the boy seemed completely engaged in her every word. Dark Shadow had drifted away and was playing monopoly at a table with Spinner, Twice, Mei and Kaminari. Mei suddenly slammed her hand onto the table with a loud cackle and all of the boys and Shadow groaned loudly, forking over handfuls of money.
Kaminari appeared to have lost, but as soon as he handed over his money- he quickly shot up from the table and bounded over to where Shinsou was talking to Kao and Toga.He tackled both Shinsou and Toga- their screams of surprise quickly divulging into laughter as Kao tried his best to help them all to their feet. Scolding Kaminari about being more careful, but his words weren't as impactful with the small grin on his face.
His eyes flickered over to his boys.
Tomura was playing Mario Kart on the couch, Natsou and Shoto had at some point joined along, though he couldn't tell how they were doing from this far away.Midoryia jumped up from his spot on the couch with a loud shout and Tomura shot to his feet- demanding a rematch and accusing him of cheating. The brothers quickly diverged into petty bickering before settling into another round.
"What about it"? Kurogiri had half forgotten the question, and was unable to keep the fond tone out of his voice.
Mister smiled "Just- I for one never imagined this would be my life you know? Were the so called elders here and watched them come together and grow". He shook his head with a small laugh "What I'm trying to say is- did you ever imagine you'd get here"?
Kurogiri paused, glass now frozen in his hand. He slowly set it onto the counter and looked at Mister."No- I never did… but I wouldn't have it any other way" That was all he could say. It was the truth.
Mister seemed satisfied with his answer and continued taking sips out of his glass while watching the group.Kurogiri watched from the bar, as he always had and knew then and there. He'd made the right choice in life.
______________________________________________________________
Kurogiri did not ask questions about life or existence in general, all he knew was what he needed to know in order to serve his master's, that was more than enough.
He kept to a routine, he relied on consistency, it kept his mind from wandering into the static.
Sundays were Master's business days, leaving Kurogiri in charge of Young Tomura. He went to the bank to get his weekly allowance, 60 thousand yen, anything over he'd need to alert the Master.
Mondays he took Young Tomura to the video game store, good enrichment and a treat for behavior master wanted to nourish.
No errands on Mondays, that's when everyone is out for errands.
Tuesdays he goes to the fish market, all the fish would be at most a day or two old, and still on sale. He'd also grab a new bag of rice if they ran low.
Wednesdays he'd go to a small corner store a few blocks from the bar, owned by an older gentleman who's memory quirk helped Kurogiri well with his "blank" moments.
The doctor assured him they would be fixed soon enough.
The bar opened Wednesday night.
Thursdays start early, clean the bar, upstairs and downstairs, and do inventory to see what needs to be restocked. Thursday nights weren't that busy.
Fridays and Saturdays became a blur, only his shifts and the fact he had to visit the doctor every Saturday morning helped with a level of consistency.
The routine helped.
But that meant any deviation made it harder to cope the rest of the week.
_______________________________________________
The doctor had some concerns, those concerns led to numerous tests. The doctor got in trouble with his master for "almost breaking him". Kurogiri had to stay home that entire week, the bar stayed closed as well, which put him somewhat at ease.
As soon as he was feeling stable again, he decided he needed to go to the corner store. Young Tomura had been watched by the doctor, he didn't know why that made him so uneasy, the doctor was a smart man.
Nothing would help Young Tomura ease back into their routine than making his favorite snack.
He went on a Monday.
The old man greeted him happily, already having his order ready. Kurogiri was checked out by a younger man who spoke in a language Kurogiri didn't understand. The older man said his name was Ömer.
Ömer was polite enough, but he was slow, and Kuorogiri was anxious to get home. As he waited in line for his items to be scanned, a woman and child stepped up behind him.
The young woman and her kid, both with matching green hair and almost sparkling bright eyes. The boy looked no older than 6, and made his presence known when he had loudly asked why Kurogiri wore a neck brace and if it had anything to do with his quirk.
The woman was instantly flustered and called out "Izuku! You should know better than to point out people's appearances, you can ask but he is in no obligation to tell you"
Izuku only nodded at his mother, now looking slightly sheepish he muttered out a genuine apology "I'm sorry mister…".
Kurogiri could hold no resentment towards the child's curiosity, and Young Tomuras blunt nature made this kids comments pale in comparison "It's quite alright young one- but no it's not from my quirk, It's simply a fashion choice, though I do wear it for health reasons as well,"
Those health reasons being the fact he wasn’t a normal human, that much he knew. "So now I wear the mask to help me function despite my nature."
Izuku gave a quick nod while the women gave a small gasp "Oh goodness- I'm sure you're doing alright though"?
It was odd to see a stranger so caring for someone he just met, but it made his heart rise a little bit. "Yes I am- my name is Kurogiri"
She lit up and nodded "I'm Inko Midoryia, it's a pleasure to meet you Kurogiri san" And with that they parted ways.
That Monday grocery run threw off his entire routine, to the point he'd had to go the following Monday to restock.
Once again he ran into the two Midoryias, chatting absent-mindedly while Ömer and the old man sorted through their groceries. Slowly what was at first a one time mistake caused a seemingly permanent shift in his routine, Young Tomuras outings now on Wednesday.
A few months into the routine, when something changed, he hadn't seen the Midoryias that day, the old man saying Inko had been in a rush and left before he'd arrived.
Ömer took the cash from his hand and suddenly froze, his eyes shining and it was as if fueled by instinct- the young man raced to one of the store shelves before hurrying back.
He produced a small plush rabbit and held it out to Kurogiri. "You need this- Don't ask me why, I don't know, it's a quirk thing" the young man said in broken Japanese. Kurogiri blinked at the small plush, not knowing how he'd justify the expenditure to his master. "It's on the house- kids not exaggerating when he says you're gonna need it" the old man waved him off.
He didn't think to question it, thanking them both as he took his groceries and left the building, stuffing the small rabbit into his coat pocket.
_________
That should have been the end.
And here he was a half hour later, groceries abandoned on the floor- as blood coated his hands.
He'd heard the screams and felt the street tremor as a billow of smoke coated the air nearby, something that had laid dormant deep in his chest awoke, pulling at him-
He needed to help.
That's how Kurogiri found them.
Inko collapsed against the rubble, a hero having fired their Quirk off too close in the attempt of getting the villain. He watched the hero speed off without even a glance at the women or the young boy she jumped in, to shield.
"I'm so sorry about your clothes… they were very nice" Inko choked out, having noticed the blood stain on his slacks and shirt.
"And your life is worth so much more than a fancy outfit, now please hold on you need to save your strength" he said with a desperate twinge to his voice. He hadn't felt this helpless in years and he hated it.
But in the moment, even with the chaos surrounding him he was faulty, aware of the ever present static surrounding his mind slowly rescinding. It was like he was waking up in a sense.
Inko just smiled down at him, one hand holding a sobbing Izuku against her side while the other reached up to cup his cheek. "I was a nurse..I know." That's all she said, and yet he knew exactly what she meant.
Inko Midoryia was going to die.
With her son sobbing against her and Kurogiri being her only comfort, some guy she spoke to every Monday at the old corner store.
Yet she kept smiling, a bittersweet expression on her face. "Kurogiri san-"
His head shot up at her voice and he listened intently "It is only me and Izuku… I- I know this is unfair to ask of you but please… take care of my baby" she said, tears beginning to billow down her cheeks.
Kurogiri's heart stuttered in his chest, helplessness clawing at his very being as she spoke. "Inko- I-... im a villian" he spoke the words without a care of the consequences, this woman deserved to know he of all people was unfit to care for her son.
She did look shocked, but just shook her head "I thank you for telling me… But the world works in greys Kurogiri san, and despite that I can tell you have a good heart.
I would still trust you with Izuku… just- promise me you won't force him down one path or another? Let him see the world for what it is and decide which side he wants to fight on to change it"
Inko spoke with such conviction in her tone, and there was nothing he could say in reply except to give a firm nod. This kid… would change the world, but in the end it was a coin toss if it was as a hero or a villain.
Speaking of the boy Inko had turned her full attention to him and cupped his face gently in her hands "Izuku-...My brave little rabbit- We're going to need to say goodbye sweetheart, but remember I'll always be with you, even if you can't see me"
Izuku gave a shaky nod, unable to speak with the tears coating his face and sharp inhales as he tried to calm his sobs enough to hear her words. "Y-yes mama…. I love you"
Inko sobbed and pulled her boy into a tight hug "I love you too Izuku… please… go on and change the world.." she pressed a firm kiss to his forehead.
Kurogiri could see her strength rapidly leaving her, Inko seemed to know this as well and laid her head back against the rubble "Kurogiri san will look after you… show him our home and he can get your things okay Izuku? You need to be brave for me-"
________
Inko was so strong, even when faced with death her smile didn't waver- all of her attention stayed on her boy even as her light was quickly fading.
She fought, until she couldn't fight anymore. Then she was gone
Kurogiri let the boy scream and cry over his mother's body right as a rescue hero made way over. He pulled the boy into his arms and allowed him to sob on his chest while speaking to the hero.
He was able to improvise a story enough to convince the man Inko and him had been dating for a while, even going as far as to say as he planned to propose. More so to prevent the hero from trying to take Izuku away from him, which worked.
He quickly realized he needed to get this kid home, but gave his contact info under one of his master's aliases to be able to retrieve Inkos body at a later date.
The boy and his mother both deserved a funeral.
After a few more statements he took Inkos purse, giving one last glance to the women.
She was still smiling.
"Come now Izuku… we need to get you some fresh clothes" he said as he pulled the boy into his chest, not trusting he could walk as far as they needed.
But Izuku was still insistent on not leaving his mother's side, the young boy inconsolable. Kurogiri could feel the wary eyes of the onlookers, the more attention the boy brought the more danger they could both be in.
He paused, remembering Inkos words as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out that same cheap stuffed rabbit and presented it to Izuku.
The boy froze, ever so slowly pulling the toy into his arms, burying his face into the soft fabric. He held his free hand out to Kurogiri, the man unable to hold back a relieved sigh as he scooped the boy into his arms and slowly began his journey back home.
He felt a bit of wetness seeping into his sleeves, looking down he frowned at the blood slowly oozing from the boy's hands. Crimson seeped into the stuffed rabbit's fur. Izuku didn't seem to register the injuries coating his arms, that or he hid the pain fairly well.
Kurogiri arrived back at the bar with a ruined outfit, a traumatized and bloody child, and still no groceries. He stepped into the door and spotted Master nursing a half full glass of whiskey, the man set down his drink then his gaze landed on Kurogiri with a startled expression
"What happened"? He asked as he made his way around the bar. He paused when he saw the boy in Kurogiris grasp "Did-..did you kidnap a child"? he asked with more confusion than accusing.
"No… the boy's mother was the casualty of a reckless hero's actions during an attack… It was only them, and she begged me to watch over him" he said as he looked down at the boy.
Izuku had long since passed out from the emotional exhaustion of everything that had happened that day. The only sound from him being soft snores, though his face was still tear stained, puffy, and slightly bloody.
Shigiraki gave him a hardened glare, eyes wandering over the small boy before locking onto his side "And the stuffed rabbit"? he prompted
"I don't remember-" Kurogiri lied to his master, he didn't know why, but something felt wrong about informing his master of Ömer's gift.
His master let out an annoyed sigh "Your memory problems really are a nuisance, but the doctor has proven untrustworthy in this aspect, so they will be acceptable for the time being"
Kurogiri looked up at his master, the sharpness in his eyes he knew was calculating above all else, running all the factors as he stared down at the green haired young man. But something else flashed in his eyes, something Kurogiri couldn't recognize- he felt himself unconsciously shift, the urge to take the boy away from his master's gaze was both maddening and a bit startling.
"We will take him in-" Kurogiri dropped his shoulders "Don't make this a habit though- and you will of course be responsible for the boy alongside your normal duties to the bar and Tomura"
Kurogiri gave a shaky breath "Thank you Master- I will ensure the boy is raised to your liking" He noted the appreciated hum his master gave, reaching out a hand to caress Izuku's hair.
"I'd hope so… now then-" he pulled his hand back and gave a small sneer when looking at the boys state
" I'll get some of Tomura's old clothes- you run him a bath, he's old enough to do it himself but the sooner we get him clean will be the first step in letting him rest properly"
His master took a white glove off his hand, holding it over the boy's arms and with a soft glow the injuries began to seal up, leaving scars in their wake. Once satisfied with the healing he left to Masted Tomura's room without another word. Kurogiri laid Izuku against the couch, throwing a small blanket over the boy before heading into the bathroom to run the tub.
He returned to the room, feeling a bit of pity for the clearly exhausted boy, but he knew his master was right. He needed to be clean before being allowed to indulge in what would likely be a long rest.
Kurogiri sat next to the sleeping boy, placing a hand on his shoulder and gently rocking it until he was greeted with two big green orbs staring back at him.
He heard soft footsteps and took his eyes off the boy as he watched his master approach, now with an unusually open expression on his face. "Hello young one- I am Shigiraki, you may call me that or Sensei, Kurogiri is my assistant and your caretaker" his master introduced, now appearing next time Kurogiri and holding a plain white shirt and some black PJ pants.
Izuku sat up slightly, sniffling lightly, "H-hello Shigaraki san-" his voice trembling slightly. The first thing Kurogiri noticed was that those signature bright green eyes were now dull, but he didn't comment.
Kurogiri watched his master's expression soften slightly, a small smirk on his face "Oh? aren't you a polite young man- now how about Kurogiri show you to the bathroom- wash yourself up and get changed then we'll get you set up in the guest room for now"
Izuku nodded, though the boy looked like he was somewhere else, the sight alone made Kurogiris heart clench.
"You have experienced something no child should- and for that I am truly sorry… You will stay here for the foreseeable future so worry not about that, myself and Kurogiri will be here to support you while you process this tragedy- but that is the future- for now let's focus on getting you clean"
Kurogiri watched his master reach his arms out to the boy, a surprising display. Izuku blinked at him slightly, not taking to the gesture as fast as his master would have liked. Master didn't wait for the boy to respond, he picked up the boy and gently situated him on his chest. Slowly making his way to the bathroom, silently beckoning Kurogiri to follow.
It took around 2 hours for Izuku to get himself clean, Kurogiri wouldn't be surprised if most of that time was spent letting his mind run wild. He entered the room and saw Izuku seated silently, eyes still puffy, but the dirt and grime gone. "The room is ready for you, young master"
Izuku looked at him with those big dull eyes, a small sniffle and nod, the boy lifted himself off the couch, following Kurogiri silently.
The silence spoke too loud.
Master helped Izuku onto the bed, and pulled the covers over him. The sheets seem to envelop the small boy. "Sleep well Izuku- We will speak again soon… but for now I will entrust your care to Kurogiri"
Izuku gave a small nod as he buried himself further in the covers "If I can't sleep"?
His Master gave a soft smile and ran his fingers through the boys hair "Then there are some notebooks and colors in the dresser, though I suggest you stay in your room tonight, Tomura also tends to be a night owl and I'd prefer your first meeting not be in the dead of night"
"Tomura"? Izuku questioned lightly, his eyes seemed to lighten slightly. Kurogiri felt a small bit of relief seeing a glimpse of the curious boy he knew.
"My son- he's a few years older than you- a similar case… he lost his family and I found him on the streets after watching a hero walk right past the sobbing five year old" Master said with a solemn tone.
Izuku tilted his head, his eyes went dull once more "But heroes are supposed to help when you're in danger"
"Yes… Yes they are- but it doesn't mean they always live up to their expectations" Izuku seemed to want to discuss this further but Master raised a soft hand
"But- this is not the time to discuss the errors of hero society, we will introduce Tomura later but for now focus on your rest" That seemed to pacify the young boy's curiosity, exhaustion clear on his face as he slowly lowered himself onto the bed.
Master stood up and made his way out of the room, Kurogiri following quickly behind and shutting the door quietly. They returned to the living room and Kurogiri spoke softly, still hesitant to disturb the sleepy child.
Shigiraki gave a soft exhale and spoke firmly "You will wait- let Izuku settle in, I'll give Tomura an explanation" he chuckled "Knowing him, he'll avoid Izuku until he's ready"
________
They did just that- His master went through explaining the situation to Tomura, who didn't have much of a response, not even asking any questions, besides what the boy's name was.
Master seemed to take it as the boy's disinterest and quickly dropped the topic, leaving soon after for business. Kurogiri however kept a close eye on Young Tomura, the boy's anxious fidgeting a strong indicator of withheld information.
Something that should be reported to the master, but for once, Kurogiri decided it was… unnecessary.
Izuku settled in fairly quickly all things considered. However he was clearly different, eyes that shone of innocence were replaced with dull green. He started spacing out much more, mumbling under his breath and only breaking out of his trace when Kurogiri promoted.
Above all else- He was still scared about how his boys would get along. Tomura was a few years older and pretty introverted. And Izuku, as friendly as the kid was, was currently like a walking shadow.
He was doing his normal inventory check of the bar. Izuku, sitting on the couch nearby and writing in his notebook.
Tomura walked in, eyes glued to his game console, he sat next to Izuku, seemingly not noticing the boy, or not caring to acknowledge him. Ten minutes of silence before Izuku said "Is that…" Tomura looked up expectantly, "Smash brothers"? he asked, showing a surprising amount of emotion.
There was yet another beat of silence, where Kurogiri didn't dare move. He could faintly hear the familiar sound of Tomaras snicker "Yeah it is- my main is Joker"
Instead of shying away Izuku's cheeks puffed out "Lucario is mine- besides you just chose the most dramatic one"
Tomura looked up from his game at Izuku and gave a soft smirk "You just don't appreciate tasteful flair"
Izuku shifted on the couch, moving closer to Tomura and looking onto the screen with thinly veiled excitement.
Tomura went dead silent, eyes looking over at the other kid for a moment "Do you want to watch me play? Maybe you can join as long as you promise not to cry when you inevitably lose"
That was- a lot more than Kurogiri was expecting. Tomura offering to play with Izuku was basically declaring his acceptance of the boy.
Not to mention watching Izuku light up and shoot closer, shining brighter than he had since his arrival.
He listened intently to Tomaras muttering. Providing his own insight as he asked questions about the game, enjoying round after round.
This had gone far better than Kurogiri had ever imagined, maybe Tomura's antisocial nature wasn't as bad with kids his age.
"What happened to your arm- those are pretty nasty scars"
…He spoke too soon.
Tomura pointed down at Izukus arms, the pale skin contrasting with an array of dark scarring. Izuku blinked, glanced down at his own arms and looked up at Tomura. "A hero killed my mama… I got hurt as well, but Kurogiri-san saved me"
He tensed as Tomuras ruby eyes flicked over to him, darting back to Izuku. The green haired boy seemed to go blank, his eyes unfocused and glassy as he rubbed anxiously at the scarred tissue.
Kurogiri side stepped, ready to pull Izuku away to calm down, but instead Tomura gave a small hum and flexed a gloved hand.
" A hero turned my dad into a bad man- and when my quirk came in, I accidently killed him and the rest of my family"
Izuku blinked "I thought Shigiraki-san was your dad"? the young boy innocently asked.
Tomuras face turned bright red and he rolled his eyes "Sensei is kinda like my dad- not that i'll ever call him that, but I'm like you, he saved me when heros didn't"
Izuku's eyes shone with a level of emotion Kurogiri couldn't interpret from the young boy. He didn't respond, instead shifting to lay against Tomura as they continued playing and Kurogiri could finally relax.
_____
The duo quickly grew to get used to each other, with the master soon departing for one of his extended trips as soon as Izuku had settled in.
Leaving Kurogiri in charge of the two boys and watching as they began to embrace their role as brothers. The changes had been hard at first, but slowly he adapted.
Strangely he felt more… whole with both boys, as if a fog had cleared from his mind.
Izuku was still understandably torn up over his mother's death, but Tomura was surprisingly good at providing a comforting presence to the younger boy.
Even adopting the titles of "Zuzu" and "Tomu-nii" which made Kurogiris heart melt. Izuku took to Tomuras gaming fairly quickly as well, both boys often speaking in seemingly their own language.
They still had many differences. Tomura was extremely introverted, not to mention abrasive at times, and yet even at this age, his presence alone demanded respect. Izuku was the opposite, Kurogiri had given up keeping the curious boy away from the bar whenever it was open. Learning the hard way that the child could teach himself to pick locks when given the right motivation.
It was a rough beginning, Kurogiri insistent Izuku staying hidden and out of the way each night.
Slowly, most of the regulars had adjusted to the presence of the bubbly green haired kid.
Izuku then began to seek out conversation with the various bar members, bombarding them with questions about their quirks, their pasts, and even just how their days went.
Some were happy to share, others would simply tell him they weren't interested, surprised when the kid would respectfully accept this and move on to someone else.
He'd come back the next time and ask "Can we talk today? or do you wanna be alone"? quickly gaining the affection of almost every customer.
Izuku didn't just earn respect, he earned affection and trust.
There was only one incident in the bar, Kurogiri had been busy cleaning glass shards from a dropped cup as Izuku made his rounds. He hadn't noticed the aggression radiating off one customer.
That was until the drunk villain had apparently gotten fed up with the boy's questioning, and instead of asking him to stop he grabbed Izku by his hair and pulled.
Izuku's pained cry, Kurogiri hadn't time to blink, before the villain was pinned on the floor by just about every person in the bar, except for a few standing to the side and comforting the now sobbing boy.
They had dragged the villain aside, coming back later with a suspicious amount of blood and yet melted when Izuku ran to them calling them his "hero's".
Kurogiri had seen a lot of things working with society's "worst" but Izuku's beaming words were met with silent tears and soft smiles from many of the bar's most hardened customers.
The villain responsible was never seen again, much to Kurogiris satisfaction.
After that incident, Tomura started coming into the bar as well to keep an eye on Izuku, usually picking a corner or end barstool and playing games silently. Though occasionally dragged into Izuku's socialization with the bar crowds.
Both boys enjoy apple juice in fancy glasses and candy cigarettes. Listening happily to the dozens of interesting stories from the eccentric crowds that found their way into the bar
______
But with the boys growing closer brought a few…incidents- many in fact.
Like Izuku encouraging Tomura to only disintegrate small areas of an object to see how finite his control was.
Of course Kurogiri would have supported this training, had it not been tested on the various bar stools. Only discovering this "experiment" after one too many customers' stools collapsed for it to be a coincidence.
Or the time Tomura "accidently" disintegrated Izuku's All-Might hoodie which led to a 2 hour long screaming fest until Kurogiri was forced to go to about five different stores in order to find the exact hoodie again.
..or when Izuku deleted Tomaras save file and then proceeded to crash the entire game trying to hack the system in order to bring it back, which ended in Izuku on top of the ceiling fan while Tomura screamed about turning him into dust and putting him in a jar.
How about the time Tomura almost threw Izuku out a window when their roughhousing got out of hand. Only stopped by the fact Izuku's shoe laces got tangled in the blinds. Tomura accidently disintegrated the glass pane trying to pull Izuku back up.
…Or maybe when Izuku bought ghost peppers from a website and put them in Tomuras Ramen, refusing to give him any milk unless the older boy promised to let him be Player 1 in Minecraft. Tomura had tried to do the same and get revenge, but underestimated Izukus unfathomable spice tolerance.
In short- these boys were giving Kurogiri grey hair- or at least they would if he had hair. Thankfully his customers assured him that was normal for boys their age, maybe they were a tad quick to violence, but that was to be expected of villian kids.
______
After an extra long shift at the bar, closing down after calling a cab for the last drunk customer, Kurogiri was beyond exhausted. Kurogiri finished cleaning and headed into the main room, the TV still illuminated with "Mario Brothers' ' load screen on full display. He sighed and made his way over to turn off the system, only pausing when he spotted two figures on the couch.
Tomura was in an oversized Eraserhead hoodie, the only hero the boy tolerated, laid back with a controller weakly in his left hand. Izuku was in his normal matching PJ set, this pair Dark blue with purple polka-dots. He was curled into Tomura's side, a bit of drool staining the other boy's shoulder as his controller seemed to be half hazardly laid against one of his legs.
Kurogiri gave a fond smile and moved over to the boys, setting both controllers aside and throwing a blanket over them both. Shifting Izuku enough where he wouldn't wake up Tomura with a wet shoulder. He turned off the TV and made his way to his room.
These boys were his master's.
They were the children of the most feared man in the underground, who's name alone made those with any sense of self preservation tremble.
He'd never questioned his life before, never having a reason. Following his routine and the master's orders got him through the day. But after finding Izuku, it was as if something had awakened, his priorities shifted away from his original protocols.
Kurogiri had gained his "reason to live" or well, reason's. His boys.
He knew his boys were going to become major players in the future- for what side and to what means Kurogiri could only wonder.
But regardless of the path they chose, as their caretaker, he would ensure their safety and success.
By any means necessary.
