The Curious Case of the Bewitched Bunny

Summary:

One morning when Yoongi opens the shop, he finds a small bunny sitting on the ground outside the door. It’s absolutely tiny, curled up into a ball. It’s probably cold, the previous night the temperature had been the coldest it’s been this year. Yoongi feels for the tiny animal, and crouches down beside it. He makes sure to be careful, to not make any big movements or sounds to scare the bunny. The bunny slowly lifts their head and blinks up at Yoongi.

“Hello, and who are you?” Yoongi asks, slowly reaching his hand out toward the bunny.

The bunny watches his hand carefully, sitting perfectly still. Yoongi pauses his hand some distance away, he wants the bunny to know he won’t hurt them. After a moment, the bunny hops forward, towards his hand, and gives it a sniff.

or, Jeongguk gets cursed to be a bunny and Yoongi helps him reverse it

Work Text:

They seem to find nothing wrong with it because they nuzzle their head against his palm. Yoongi coos and carefully picks up the bunny, holding it against his chest. The little animal burrows into his sweater.

With the bunny in his arms, he unlocks the door and walks inside his shop, making a beeline for the lightswitches. Before he starts on his usual opening routine, he finds a small basket and a soft blanket to put the bunny in, wrapping them up nice and cozy in the blanket. The bunny seems content so Yoongi leaves them there while he gets to work.

It’s a Thursday, which means delivery day. Yoongi goes about his normal routine, booting up the register computer, starting the fire under his cauldron to heat it up, making sure everything is neat and tidy around his space. Taehyung will be in soon, so Yoongi can get him started on general store maintenance before the delivery arrives.

Opening a shop has always been a dream of Yoongi’s, and to finally have it realized feels almost unreal at times. It’s been a couple of years now but he still loves it, still looks forward to everyday when he gets to open up the shop and help customers. It’s a shop that sells all kinds of magical ingredients you could need in your potions, and other items such as crystals and things you could need for healing purposes, as well as finished brewed potions he makes himself. It’s sort of an apothecary, Yoongi supposes. Over the years he’s established himself and his store as a must-visit for especially witches and he loves chatting with regulars coming in.

Taehyung comes in on the dot, which is not unusual. He told Yoongi once that he’s not willing to spend more time in the shop than what he gets paid for. Yoongi took a little offense to that, but understands all the same.

“Turn the sign,” Yoongi calls to him.

There’s not much he can do before a delivery when the stock is almost depleted, but he thought he’d get started on what he can and has his hands full with ingredients. Taehyung turns back to the door and flips the closed sign to say open, then makes his way over to the counter. Yoongi walks into the back area where he brews the potions with the ingredients and dumps them on the table. He checks the temperature on the cauldron, then gets out a knife to start chopping.

“Oh my god!” He hears Taehyung exclaim from the front and slips with the knife and almost cuts himself.

He quickly puts down the knife and rushes out of the back room to check on Taehyung. When he enters through the door and sees that Taehyung is not in immediate danger, he sighs. Got him all worried and scared for nothing. Then he notices Taehyung is bent over a bundle of blankets lying in a basket and remembers the small bunny he rescued earlier. He walks up beside Taehyung. The bunny is sleepily blinking up at them, probably got woken up by Taehyung’s loud voice.

“What’s this, hyung?” Taehyung asks, carefully petting the bunny on top of the head with a finger. The bunny preens under the attention and Taehyung giggles.

“It’s a bunny,” Yoongi says and Taehyung rolls his eyes.

“Yeah, I can see that. I meant, where did it come from? What’s it doing here?”

He’s still petting the bunny, scratching with his finger tip under their chin and behind their ear. The bunny looks like they’re thoroughly enjoying it.

“I found them outside when I came this morning, they’d been out all night in the cold so I brought them inside,” Yoongi says.

The bunny turns their eyes on him and if Yoongi didn’t know better, he’d say they look thankful. He should really find out the bunny’s name, he can’t keep referring to them as ‘the bunny’, and also the owner. Or maybe they don’t have one, maybe they were abandoned. The thought squeezes Yoongi’s heart painfully. If that’s the case then Yoongi will take them in.

“Aw, poor baby,” Taehyung coos. “Have you checked to see if the owner has posted anything online about their missing bunny?”

Yoongi shakes his head. Then a thought hits him; this could very well not be an animal. “What if it’s not an actual bunny?”

The bunny seems to perk up at that, lifting their head and looking at Yoongi with big eyes. Taehyung, on the other hand, frowns.

“But why would they still be in animal form then? Shouldn’t they have changed back by now? I get if they couldn’t earlier because they were too cold or something but now they’ve warmed up.”

Yoongi shrugs. It’s hard to get answers when you can’t ask. He’s about to turn to go back into the back room when the bunny struggles out of their blanket nest. They jump down on the counter where Taehyung had placed the basket and hop towards Yoongi. Yoongi pauses and watches as the bunny sits back on their hind legs and then lifts one front paw to…point? at Yoongi. That’s what it looks like. Yoongi looks at Taehyung and they exchange a confused look. Looking back at the bunny, Yoongi points at himself. The bunny nods.

“Hyung,” Taehyung whispers, “you might be right. It’s looking like they’re trying to tell you something.”

Yoongi agrees but he isn’t sure what exactly they’re trying to say. The bunny points their paw to themself and then points at Yoongi again.

“Are you understanding this?” Yoongi asks Taehyung. He shakes his head.

They’re interrupted from further investigation by the door opening. The bunny startles and jumps back into the basket, hiding among the folds of the fabric. Yoongi turns to the door and sees it’s Namjoon with their weekly delivery.

“Hi, hyung!” Taehyung walks around the counter to help Namjoon with the boxes. Yoongi looks back at the basket one last time, a slightly worried feeling settling in his gut, before shaking it off and going to join Taehyung and Namjoon.

“‘Morning,” Namjoon greets, loading the rest of the boxes out of his truck.

“‘Morning. How are things?” Yoongi asks. He and Namjoon have become good friends over the years as Namjoon has been the person delivering to Yoongi’s store since the beginning. It’s nice to see him, even if it’s only a couple times a week, and catch up.

Namjoon smiles, looking almost a little shy. “I met someone,” he says.

Taehyung gasps. “You gotta tell us everything!”

Yoongi places a gentle hand on Taehyung’s shoulder. “Calm down,” he chuckles. “Joon doesn’t have all the time in the world to gossip with us.”

“It’s fine,” Namjoon says. “He’s a fairy and the most beautiful creature I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.” His smile takes on a dreamy effect, gaze far away as he’s presumably thinking about this beautiful creature.

“Ooh someone’s in love,” Taehyung sing-songs and Namjoon’s cheeks turn pink.

Yoongi laughs while Namjoon sputters out some excuse that it’s too soon for that, he’s merely infatuated. Taehyung joins in on the laughter and Namjoon pouts.

“You guys are mean.”

Taehyung throws an arm around his shoulders in a sideways hug. “Noo, hyung. We’re sorry, we love you.”

He squishes their cheeks together and Namjoon stands completely still, like he’s not sure what to do, until Taehyung pulls away again and he looks like he releases a breath he was holding the entire time. Yoongi huffs out a laugh.

Namjoon clears his throat. “Anyway, I should get going. Don’t want to be late for my next delivery.”

They wave him off, then go back into the store to start organizing the boxes they got delivered. Yoongi tells Taehyung to start unboxing them and restock the shelves while he goes back to his potion making. He keeps to the back room for most of the day, mainly because he has a lot of potions to make now that he has fresh ingredients, but he feels safe with leaving Taehyung to run the shop on his own. He’s worked here for a while now, he knows what he’s doing.

When his joints are starting to hurt from all the chopping of ingredients and stirring the potions, he goes out to the front for a break. Taehyung is talking to the bunny as he tries to feed them some green leaves Yoongi doesn’t know where he got from. The bunny is sitting on the surface of the counter, unwilling to eat the leaves Taehyung holds out to them.

Taehyung turns to him when he notices him approaching. “Hyung, he refuses to eat.”

“He?” Yoongi questions. He looks at the bunny. The bunny looks back with those big eyes.

“Yes, I accidentally found out when I lifted him out of his basket. Still don’t know his name, though. It’s not like he can tell me.”

The bunny looks between them, then looks around him. He seems to spot something because he hops over to the other side of the counter. Taehyung follows him.

“What are you doing, little friend?”

What the bunny had found turns out to be a pad of sticky notes they have lying around and a pen. He grabs the pen between both his front paws and uncaps it with his mouth. Then he struggles to write something on the notepad. Yoongi walks closer. If he didn’t suspect already that this bunny isn’t an ordinary bunny, he would probably be freaked out by this behavior. Instead he patiently waits until he’s finished writing whatever it is he’s writing on the paper. When he’s done, he drops the pen and sits back, looking up at Taehyung and Yoongi, waiting for them to look.

They bend over the notepad and read what it says. It’s written messily but that’s what you’d expect from a bunny with no opposable thumbs. Still, Yoongi can make out what it says.

“Oh my god,” Taehyung says.

That feeling of worry comes back to Yoongi, and stronger. Turns out that this bunny is actually a human that has been cursed to live as a bunny. It’s put in very simple words on the paper – “me, human. bunny curse” – but it’s not hard to interpret.

“What are we going to do, hyung? We have to help him.”

Yoongi nods, but he isn’t sure how to help. He’s never dealt with curses before. He looks at the bunny. He’s giving Yoongi pleading eyes, as if begging him to help. That must be why he was outside the shop this morning, he must know Yoongi is a witch and was hoping he could help. Yoongi doesn’t want to let him down but it looks like he’ll have to. But then he looks at the bunny, sees his big sparkling eyes and cute nose, small furry paws. He imagines what he could look like as a human with those eyes. It doesn’t feel right to not at least try.

“Bring him,” he says to Taehyung and walks into the back. Taehyung picks the bunny up and hurries after. It’s a good thing the shop is empty right now, it helps that it’s a slow time of day.

He starts rooting through his cupboards for something he could use. He’s read about curses, some of them at least, but he’s never had to deal with one firsthand. He doesn’t know where to start or even really what to do. None of the potions he has would work.

Sighing in defeat, he comes to stand with Taehyung by his work table. Taehyung gives him a look.

“Should we call him?” He emphasizes on the last word and Yoongi winces.

“We might not have a choice.” He looks at the bunny in Taehyung’s arms. He’s so small and he looks so sad. Now that Yoongi knows he’s actually human he can see it in his eyes, in his downturned ears. He picks up his phone and sends the dreaded text.

Not even half an hour later, the door to the shop opens and Kim Seokjin enters. Yoongi had gone out to the front to wait for him and Seokjin’s eyes land on him as soon as he steps inside. He grins widely and spreads his arms out either side of himself.

“Min Yoongi! To what do I owe the pleasure of you inviting me to your shop?”

Yoongi thinks there’s nothing pleasurable about having Seokjin in his shop. He despises him, has done so ever since school. Seokjin and he were pretty equal when it came to their skills as witches but, instead of working together to improve those skills further, Seokjin made it clear that he thought he was better than everyone, including Yoongi. Yoongi wasn’t going to go down without a fight and a rivalry between them began. Yoongi can’t remember ever having a conversation with Seokjin that wasn’t a petty argument. And now he has to ask for his help. He might just throw up in his mouth a little.

The reason for needing Seokjin’s help in the first place is that there are some things he is better at than Yoongi, Yoongi will bitterly admit that. One of those things is curses.

“I need your help,” he grits out.

He doesn’t miss the triumphant glint in Seokjin’s eyes when he says that and huffs, crossing his arms. Seokjin walks up to the counter, the smug grin never leaving his features. Yoongi knows he will regret this.

“Min Yoongi asking me for help? Has hell frozen over?” he says dramatically, looking around as if he’ll be able to spot physical evidence of it.

“Ha ha,” Yoongi says sarcastically, then turns and walks into the back area, not bothering to wait for Seokjin.

Taehyung is sitting on a stool in the back area and the small bunny is sitting on the table in front of him. They’re talking to each other. Or, rather, Taehyung is talking and the bunny is listening, nodding along every so often. Yoongi smiles at the sight, momentarily forgetting his sour emotions at having Kim Seokjin in his shop. They come back full force, however, when Seokjin steps through the door, his holier-than-thou energy follows him everywhere like a bad aura and stinks up the room. Yoongi wrinkles his nose and turns away.

“Hello, Taehyung,” Seokjin says cordially.

“Hi.”

“Now,” Seokjin claps his hands together once and looks around. “What is it you need my assistance with?"

Taehyung points at the bunny and he shrinks in on himself a little at having new attention on him. Seokjin walks up to the table and bends to look at the bunny.

“It’s a bunny,” he states, confused.

“It’s a person that’s been cursed to be a bunny,” Taehyung corrects.

Seokjin straightens up with an understanding look. “Curses are nasty business. I presume none of you can speak to animals?” When both Taehyung and Yoongi shake their heads, Seokjin hums. “Thoughts so, that would’ve made it too easy. How did you even figure out he was cursed?”

“He wrote it on a piece of paper– Oh! Wait!”

Taehyung runs out of the room, coming back a moment later with the same notepad and pen the bunny used earlier to tell them about the curse. He sets it down in front of him now and the bunny picks up the pen, ready to write down answers to any questions Seokjin may ask him.

“What’s your name, little one?” The bunny starts writing something and Seokjin bends over to look. “Jeongguk. Okay, hi Jeongguk, I’m Seokjin. I’m going to try to help you, okay?”

The bunny nods. Seokjin looks around the room, then starts gathering up things he needs. A small metallic bowl, a piece of chalk, some ingredients he takes from an open box from today’s delivery. He sets it all down on the table beside the bunny and starts drawing some sort of sigil on the surface with the chalk. Despite himself, Yoongi walks up to him and peers at what he’s doing over his shoulder. Seokjin notices him hovering.

“I need to first figure out what type of curse it is we’re dealing with to determine the best way to break it. A simple summoning of the curse placer’s energy should do.”

Simple he says, but this is magic Yoongi has little practice with. He supposes he could put away his dislike for Seokjin for a moment to be able to learn from him. This could be useful magic to know.

After placing everything inside the bowl and putting the bowl in the middle of the sigil he drew, he carefully picks Jeongguk up and places him at the top of the sigil, in front of the bowl. Jeongguk doesn’t complain, just sits nicely where he’s put down. Seokjin says an incantation and the insides of the bowl catch fire and erupt in a cloud of smoke. He watches the smoke billow into the air. Yoongi does too and sees that it has a color to it, a kind of green tint can be seen when it hits the light coming in from the window.

Seokjin nods at his findings. “Good news, bunny. It is not an evil curse and it will be relatively easy to break.”

Yoongi bets that if bunnies could smile, Jeongguk would light up in a big one now. He jumps up and down on the spot in excitement at knowing he won’t need to be a bunny for much longer.

Just then, Taehyung comes back into the room. Yoongi hasn’t even noticed him leave.

“How’s it looking?” he asks.

“Good. I’ll just need a list of ingredients for a potion, but I assume you carry everything in your shop.” He says the last part to Yoongi as a question.

“I’ll know that once I’ve seen your list,” Yoongi says snarkily.

Seokjin rolls his eyes and grabs a sticky note and writes down the list of things he will need for his potion, then hands it to Yoongi. Yoongi snatches it from his hand and gives it a once-over, confirming in his head that he does have everything in stock. He gives the list to Taehyung and asks him to collect everything.

He sits down on the stool by the table and holds a hand out to Jeongguk the bunny. He hasn’t interacted much with him but for some reason he seems to feel safe around him. Much like this morning, Jeongguk hops up to his hand now and nuzzles against his open palm. Maybe it’s his way of saying thank you since he isn’t able to speak. Yoongi strokes his thumb over the soft fur on his cheek. Jeongguk leans into his touch, closing his eyes.

Feeling eyes on him, Yoongi turns to see Seokjin looking at them with a soft smile. The smile immediately disappears when he notices Yoongi looking, and he raises a brow challengingly. Yoongi just shakes his head and looks back at Jeongguk. The bunny places both his front paws on Yoongi’s hand and looks at him with soft eyes. It almost feels like it’s an attempt at holding Yoongi’s hand and it makes him smile. He can’t wait to find out what Jeongguk looks like as a person. As a bunny his small tan frame is cute, Yoongi bets he’s just as cute as a human.

When Taehyung comes back with the ingredients they’ll need, Seokjin sets Yoongi to work brewing the potion. Yoongi grumbles how he’s never brewed this potion before and that he doesn’t even know what potion it is.

Seokjin rolls his eyes. “I’ll help you, idiot. Stop complaining and get to work. You want to help Jeongguk, no?”

Yoongi grumbles some more but gets started heating up his cauldron. He wants to help Jeongguk, it would only be right. Jeongguk came to him for help, after all.

“It’s a bit complicated to get it right so you have to follow my instructions correctly,” Seokjin tells him, standing over his shoulder and closely inspecting everything he’s doing.

“Why can’t you brew it yourself?” Yoongi shoots back.

Seokjin hesitates for a split second before he responds, “It’s your kitchen, I don’t want to intrude on your space more than I already am.”

Yoongi scoffs. “Since when are you considerate of other people’s feelings?”

He looks at Yoongi for a moment, considering. “I’m nice to the people that deserve it,” he says eventually.

Yoongi tries to act like that didn’t feel like a punch right in the gut. Seokjin has never been kind to him, it’s fun to know it’s because he never deemed Yoongi worthy of his kindness. Yoongi rolls his eyes. Well, Seokjin has never done anything to deserve Yoongi’s kindness either, so. He knows he’s being petty, but if anyone can bring out that side in him, it’s Seokjin.

He looks at Jeongguk. The small bunny has curled up on top of the table some ways away from Yoongi’s cauldron, and is snoozing softly. He has to remind himself he’s doing this for him, Seokjin will be out of here quicker too if Yoongi cooperates.

Taehyung comes into the back at some point. “Hyung, it’s closing time.”

Yoongi frowns in confusion and looks at the clock on the wall. Sure enough, it’s time to close the shop which means all afternoon has gone by without Yoongi even noticing. The potion is nowhere near done, though, so Yoongi guesses they’ll be here for the rest of the evening.

“Turn the sign and go home, Tae. I can take care of everything else,” Yoongi tells him.

Taehyung hesitates in the doorway and looks around the room. Seokjin is sitting on a stool by the counter by the sink, leaning his chin on his palm and scrolling on his phone. Jeongguk is still asleep but now he’s lying on the blanket Yoongi gave him earlier, Yoongi having gone and gotten it for him to sleep on something softer than a hard table.

He’s added all the ingredients to the potion and followed Seokjin’s instructions on how to brew it properly, now they just have to wait for it to simmer for a few hours.

“Are you sure?” Taehyung asks.

“There’s nothing for you to do anyway, go home and get some rest,” Seokjin says before Yoongi can answer. He doesn’t look up from his phone, just keeps scrolling.

Taehyung looks to Yoongi for confirmation and, when Yoongi nods, says goodnight and leaves. Now Yoongi is completely alone with Seokjin, unless you count Jeongguk which Yoongi doesn’t in this case since he’s asleep.

After a long moment of the two of them sitting in complete silence and scrolling on their own phones, Seokjin abruptly stands up and leaves the room. Yoongi looks after him, confused, but he doesn’t need to wonder for long because soon Seokjin is back and is carrying a paper bag. The smell of food enters the room with him and Yoongi feels even more confused. That is until Seokjin sets the bag down on the table and starts unpacking a bunch of takeout containers. He sets one down in front of Yoongi along with a set of disposable chopsticks, then takes the other container and goes back to his seat at the counter.

Yoongi stares at the white foam container in front of him, then turns to Seokjin. Seokjin looks up with his chopsticks full of noodles halfway to his mouth, and raises an eyebrow in question at Yoongi.

“What’s this?” Yoongi gestures to the food.

“Are you not hungry? I was getting hungry and the potion won’t be done for some time so I ordered some for us,” Seokjin explains like it’s nothing, then goes right back to his own food.

The sound of paws scratching against foam has Yoongi turning back to the table. Jeongguk must have woken up from the smell of food and is standing on his hind legs with his front legs resting against the takeout container. He looks up at Yoongi with big eyes and Yoongi sighs, then opens the lid. He picks out some pieces of meat and a few noodles and puts them on the lid for Jeongguk to munch on. Jeongguk digs right in and Yoongi wonders if he hasn’t eaten anything all day. The answer is probably no, since he’s in bunny form.

Yoongi keeps giving him more of his food every time he finishes what he has until he turns away, full. He goes back to his blanket and snuggles up on it, curling into a tiny ball and letting out a big, content sigh. Seokjin finishes his own food and goes up to the potion and stirs it.

“It’s almost ready,” he says.

Jeongguk lifts his head again, looking at the cauldron hopefully. Seokjin pats him on the head.

And, as Seokjin said, a few minutes later the potion is finished simmering. Yoongi ladles it into a bowl for ease of drinking for a bunny and sets it down in front of Jeongguk. Jeongguk sniffs it before drinking and wrinkles his little nose. Yoongi’s heart swells from the cuteness.

“You have to drink all of it,” Seokjin says and Jeongguk makes a face.

He takes a deep breath and starts drinking, slowly lapping it up with his tongue. It takes some time as he isn’t used to drinking this way, but eventually he’s finished the whole bowl and sits back.

“Good job,” Yoongi tells him and scratches under his chin. Jeongguk preens at the compliment. Yoongi turns to Seokjin. “Now what?”

“It’s gonna take a while for it to take effect, if you go to sleep now you’ll wake up a human tomorrow.”

“Do you have a place to stay?” Yoongi asks Jeongguk.

Jeongguk blinks at him with wide eyes, not making any move to answer the question, like he could do perfectly well earlier with a paper and pen. Yoongi doesn’t comment on it, just picks him up in his arms.

“I’ll bring him to my place for the night,” he says to no one in particular. He pauses for a moment before turning to Seokjin. “Thanks for your help.”

Seokjin shrugs nonchalantly. “No worries. I’ll help clean up around here, then you can take the bunny boy home.”

Yoongi keeps Jeongguk in his arms because he falls asleep and he doesn’t want to risk waking him by putting him down somewhere. Together, he and Seokjin make quick work of cleaning and soon Yoongi is locking the door behind them.

“I’ll see you around, Min Yoongi,” Seokjin says and waves as he walks away down the road.

Yoongi finds himself waving back before he heads in the opposite direction to his apartment. Once inside, he goes into the living room and makes a nest on the couch with the blanket draped over the back of it. He gently places Jeongguk in the middle of the fabric. The tiny animal struggles deeper into the fabric, letting out a deep exhale. Yoongi stands by the couch for a moment and watches him.

He’s gotten fond of Jeongguk over the course of the day. It may be because he was a bunny and bunnies are cute in nature. Yoongi is looking forward to meeting him as a human tomorrow, hopefully the potion will work.

Unfortunately, by the next morning, Yoongi has all forgotten about yesterday and, maybe more importantly, the human-turned-bunny sleeping on his couch. Only now it’s a bunny-turned-human and when Yoongi walks into his living room, rubbing sleep out of his eyes, and sees a guy lying on his couch, he screams.

The guy on his couch shoots right up, eyes springing open in alarm. When his eyes land on Yoongi, though, his expression softens and he smiles slightly. Yoongi stares at him, waiting for his memories to come back to him. Slowly they do, piecing together yesterday in his mind. This is the guy they helped, the bunny.

Jeongguk.

Jeongguk is sitting on his couch, the blanket Yoongi laid him down in last night wrapped around him. Except it slipped down when he sat up and exposed his naked torso. Yoongi’s eyes travel down on their own accord, roaming all over the expanse of skin. Suddenly the expanse of skin disappears from his view as Jeongguk covers himself with the blanket. Yoongi feels his whole body heat up in embarrassment at getting caught staring. He quickly turns away.

“Uhm, good to see the potion worked. I’ll get you some clothes,” he stammers and promptly leaves the room.

He goes into his room and grabs some clothes he thinks will fit Jeongguk and brings them to him. Then he leaves the room to give him privacy to get dressed. He walks into the kitchen to make some breakfast for the two of them. After a moment, Jeongguk joins him in the kitchen, fully dressed in a pair of Yoongi’s sweatpants and tshirt.

“Thank you for yesterday,” he says. “I really, really appreciate you helping me.”

Yoongi keeps his eyes on the eggs he’s scrambling in a pan on the stove. “You’re welcome. I’m glad I could help. Do you mind me asking how it happened?”

Jeongguk laughs sheepishly. “It’s kind of a funny story, actually. My neighbor has never liked me much but the other day he snapped when I– I actually don’t know what I did wrong. I was just chatting with their partner – I’ve seen them together multiple times and the partner always says hi to me. They did now too but I don’t know. My neighbor yelled at me and suddenly I was on the floor.”

He’s rambling a little and when he finishes he shrugs. Yoongi frowns, that wasn’t a particularly funny story. He feels like teaching Jeongguk’s neighbor a lesson; he wouldn’t like it much if he himself got turned into a bunny, or any other animal for that matter, would he.

“Jeongguk, I’m so sorry. Your neighbor sucks.”

“I’m back as a human now so it’s fine! And it’s all thanks to you,” Jeongguk says with a soft smile.

The eggs are finished being scrambled so Yoongi tips them onto two plates then turns to Jeongguk and looks at him properly for the first time. What he’s met with takes his breath away. Soft features and sharp edges. A cute button nose and those big eyes. He looks a little like a bunny even as a human. Yoongi can’t look away.

Jeongguk’s cheeks get pinker the longer Yoongi stares at him, but he doesn’t look away and they end up staring at each other for a long moment. It’s probably only a few minutes but to Yoongi it feels like hours pass as they stand there in his kitchen.

Eventually, Jeongguk can’t take it any longer and looks away and it brings Yoongi out of his daze. He shakes his head at himself and turns to the plates with the eggs. He had put bread in the toaster to go with it and it had popped up while they were staring at each other but clearly both of them had been too preoccupied to notice. He grabs them now and puts one on each plate.

“Breakfast,” he says and pushes one plate towards Jeongguk.

Jeongguk chuckles at the pathetic sight on the plate but grabs it nonetheless.

“Make fun all you want, I haven’t been shopping yet this week,” Yoongi says seriously.

They sit down to eat. Yoongi keeps stealing glances at Jeongguk. It’s impossible for him to look away. He’s never seen anyone so pretty and he feels like he needs to take advantage of the time he gets with him. For all he knows, after this they’ll part ways and never see each other again. Yoongi wouldn’t mind seeing Jeongguk again, he just has to hope Jeongguk feels the same.

“I’m glad it was your shop I fell asleep in front of,” Jeongguk says after a moment of quiet. “I’d been out all evening searching for anything or anyone who could help. I mean, it wasn’t like I could speak or use my phone. If I’m honest it was a really stressful situation but you helped me feel better without even doing much.”

Yoongi’s heart does a thing at hearing that, and a warm feeling settles inside him. “I’m glad, too. I’m sorry it was stressful and that it even happened to you, but I’m glad I could help.”

Jeongguk gives him a soft smile and the feeling intensifies, his heart rate speeding up. He’s never gotten flustered like this around anyone. For some reason he doesn’t mind it.

“Can I see you again?” he asks before he loses his courage.

“I would like that,” Jeongguk says, looking at Yoongi through his lashes. “Hopefully without needing to reverse any curses,” he adds with a small laugh.

Yoongi chuckles. “Yes, let’s stay away from curses for a while.”

*hands you a tiny bunny* the world is a scary place, take this
