Work Text:

“Stop following me around and leave me alone!”

Law was losing his last nerve, a vein popping out of his forehead as he tried in vain to escape Luffy. The younger captain had been trailing him all day, running his mouth and not giving the surgeon a moment of peace. This was the norm for them but today it was becoming far too much to handle since Law was running on barely any sleep and had a shit ton of things to take care of.

“But I’m bored!” Luffy whined, pouting. He was hanging off of his boyfriend’s arm, swinging back and forth like a monkey.

“Then go find something to do,” Law hisses through clenched teeth.

“But I want to hang out with you,” Luffy was insufferable at this point, acting like a child and bugging Law. “No more responsibilities. No doing stuff. Do stuff with me instead. Let's go fishing. No! Eat! Let's eat!”

Stopping in his tracks, Law brings his free hand up to rub his temple, frustrated beyond belief. Bickering with Luffy was getting them nowhere and nothing on his to-do list was getting done. He had to do something before he was driven mad.

Then suddenly an idea makes itself known, drifting up into his brain and bringing a mischievous smirk to his lips. An idea he knew Luffy would despise but one that would give him a moment to breathe. That was all he required.

Law’s hand falls from his face and comes out, fingers spreading as he calls upon a Room, the air sparking with a blue aura. While Luffy was still whining and distracted, he reached back to unsheath Kikoku then in a flash she is returned, and the deed is done.

A surprised gasp.

Law’s arm is released as Luffy stumbles back.

With a wicked grin, Law grabs Luffy’s detached head, throwing it up and catching it.

“Whoa! This feels weird!” Luffy exclaimed, clearly not seeing how dire the situation could be.

“Let's make it weirder, shall we,” Law brings his free hand back up. “Shambles!”

In the blink of an eye, things shift, and where once he was holding Luffy’s noggin he was now grasping a lantern. A shout has him looking up and his golden gaze falls upon a place way up high. Luffy’s head was attached to the wall where a light source used to be. It was rather comical and Law had to keep himself from laughing at the sight.

“That should keep you busy for a while,” Law says, watching as Luffy’s body stumbles around, trying to get to his head.

“Oi! Put me back!” Luffy shouts as Law goes to leave.

“I will…after I’m done with shit,” Law tells him, giving him a wave as he sits down to enjoy the show for a bit before getting back to work.

Yes, he’d put Luffy back together but for now, he’d relish in the control he had and get things done for once without being disturbed. Besides, Luffy couldn’t stay mad at him for long. Not when he’d make it up to him later in the bedroom. It was Law’s turn to be a pest and it felt oh, so good.
