something familiar to ease your mind

Summary:

Such a view could take away all his worry, but something else caught his eye.

or: craig and octavio make out on top of a hill lmao

Work Text:

It was just the sunset, it wasn’t special.

So why was Octavio so happy about this?

The octarian looked in awe, gripping onto the hand of the man who brought him here, Craig. At first he didn’t really really know why he wanted to take him here, but now he understood the beauty. Even if he did risk the council coming to find him after he snuck out, it was worth it. It was okay, he would be king soon.

Maybe thats the reason he's feeling all these emotions, why Craig brought him here. It was fine. He would be fine. The sunset pulled him away from all his worries, even if for a moment.

“Dude, calm down. It’s just the sun.” Craig chuckled at his lover, which earned him a flushed expression from Octavio.

“Yeah, but… it’s nice.” He smiled awkwardly.

Craig raised an eyebrow, but ultimately shrugged. “Whatever.” He then pointed to a lone hill. “Anyway, come on! It’s supposed to rain later, I wanna get up there before it does!” Octavio initially questioned the mention of rain, but decided not to worry and follow the inkling up the hill as he ran.

The two sat atop the hill, looking out at the ocean that was near. Octavio grazed his hands along the green grass, somehow feeling at peace despite all the emotions bubbling over him.

Craig had a saddened expression on his face. "Look, I... I noticed how stressed you've been feeling. But I just wanted to have this moment together, with you." He smiled.

"Thanks." the octoling wanted to say so much more than that, but decided not to.

The sun illuminated everything with an orange tint. The prince glanced over at Craig, who had looked awfully pretty in such lighting. He looked unreal, almost like a painting.

The inkling looked away from the view, noticing Octavio staring at him. The octarian immediately turned his head aside, blushing slightly.

Craig laughed. “Don’t be so nervous, Tavi.” He noticed that Octavio’s face was redder after he said that, but he wasn’t sure if it was because of the nickname. The inkling then cupped his face and pulled him in for a long, dragged out kiss.

Octavio’s eyes snapped open at the contact. Eventually his eyes closed again as he wrapped his arms around Craig’s. The lingering thoughts about someone finding them didn't matter to the octoling anymore. He didn't care about anything else but this.

Unfortunately in a need for air, they separated briefly to catch air. Craig put his hands on Octavio's, almost pinning him down on the grassy surface, before leaning into another kiss. The cycle continued, with each kiss feeling more passionate than the last. Neither of them wanted this moment to end.

Seemed mother nature had different plans though, as the rain Craig had been talking about earlier decided to inconveniently come right now.

Droplets of water landed on the two cephalopods, causing sighs and laughter from them both as they ran to get shelter, hands intertwined.
