It was easy really. Who he was. He was Miles, simple. Though some people don’t really see it that way. He still remembers the stares he got when he was little, the whispers between the parents more than anything. And as he got older it wasn’t as bad, most people had forgotten, and when he moved to his new school no one knew.
Then obviously the whole Spider-Man thing threw a wrench in the whole stealth thing. It was really fucking hard to be so agile when there was so much pressure around his ribs that at times it felt like he was suffocating. Which wasn’t ideal, but what could he do?
But even if he struggled hiding it every now and then, it really was easy, in the grand scheme of things.
Though hiding it from all his spider-friends was proving to be very difficult. It’s like how the spider-sense made it so that they could tell when they were fellow spider-people, it was almost like there was another sense that could tell that he was hiding something. No one had brought it up, but he did get some weird looks when he was breathing a bit too heavily, or moving a bit stiffly. It could just be in his head, but he could swear at least someone knew.
Maybe Gwen, he’d seen her pin badges, the little sticker in her room, maybe she had the same secret as him and she could just tell or something. But still, if it was her surely she’d say something? They’d been friends long enough. Though it could not be her, it could be someone else, someone he didn’t really know, but they’d seen him acting weird enough so that they’d started to suspect.
It probably was in his head to be honest, it’s stupid to think that people can sense that he's different, it’s not like the spider-sense can pick up on people’s private secrets, otherwise he’d know who it was that knew.
But what if everyone else can read minds, but he can’t, but no one knew that, because they just thought it was common sense? If that was the case he would probably be fucked right now because he’d just thought that in a room full of people that would be able to read minds if that was true. So that probably wasn’t the case.
It was probably just paranoia, like when people have, like, drugs on them and they think everyone else knows that they do but really it’s just in their heads. Yeah, Miles’ secret was like his drug, and he just thought that everyone else could tell it was in his pockets. If that made sense. He wasn’t sure.
But, what if it wasn’t like that, what if it’s like, not just him with the drugs, what if everyone had drugs on them and they just knew that he also had drugs because they had drugs so they can tell that he has drugs because they knew what it looked like to have drugs on them.
Okay that was too much drug talk, what was he even talking about?
Right, yes. His secret, his super-duper-top-secret-secret, what if he wasn’t the only one with this super-super-top-secret-secret? And that’s why it felt like someone knew, because someone did know but not in, like, a weird-judgy-ew-that’s-weird way, more like in a oh-he’s-like-me-that’s-cool way, you know?
I mean it might be Gwen, because, like, she had those badges, and that sticker, and even if she didn’t have the same secret, she would at least not be a dick about it. So it was probably her.
But also it could be, like, how they all had a dead uncle or something. It could be that they all had this same secret, which would be crazy because imagine that. That was probably stupid, but hey a guy can dream.
