There is something about watching Noah with his brother, through the window. He stands on the car curious about the humans that had oogled at him while in disguise. So far he’s only seen them in a certain light, where they admire his curves and the way his body is shaped for better down draft to stick to the road.
Watching his new Human friend with his little brother makes him homesick.
Watching Noah with his brother reminds Mirage of his own family back home. How his Uncle Jazz would watch him when he was younger. His Creators Hound and Mirage - who he was named after, would take care of him when he got sick - especially after that time Smokescreen pulled that gunk out of the wash racks and dared him and Bumblebee to eat it causing all three of them to be ill.
Uncle Prowl had been ‘disappointed’ with Smokes for millennia with that. Though Hound had later explained that Prowl was already on thin ice with Prime, so his kid getting Primes kid sick wasn’t helping Prowl out any that groon.
The kid is sick with something, Mirage doesn’t ask.
“Whats wrong?” asked Noah. He’s noticed the Autobots face drop.
“Nothing just-homesick I guess. I miss my Family,” answered Mirage.
“You guys have families?” asked Chris.
“Yeah,” said Mirage. “I had two Mentors, Hound and then I was named after Mirage. But he went by Raj mostly after I came along.”
“What were they like?”
“Hound was fun, he always let me get away with stuff that ‘Raj never would. I got his hologram ability. We’d play tricks on Uncle Jazz and Prowl all the time. Uncle Prowl had this pet Flyt named Green and me and Hound would get to take care of her sometimes. ‘Raj was more strict, he came from a really high-class background whereas Hound came from a poorer class. With ‘Raj it was always following the rules, be responsible yatta yatta, he wasn’t a big fan of pets so we never had we had to share Green with Prowl Jazz and Smokey.”
“Uncle Jazz let the three of us-Bee, Smokes, and Me-run the place. He was head of Special Ops and Raj was SIC his Second in command. His kid Smokes he was fun! I remember getting into all sorts of trouble with him. Like the time we prank-called Ironhide, or stole all of Ratchet's screwdrivers. Sometimes Uncle Jazz would join in on whatever we were doing and he’d get into trouble with his Conjunx but Prowl could never stay mad at him for too long.”
“I’m sure they miss you,” said Noah hoping to comfort the Autobot.
“Yeah, I just hope they’re okay. When we left Cybertron we got separated in the scramble, I think they’re still alive just really far away.”
“Im sorry about the Transwarp key,” said Noah.
“Nah, don’t be sorry. Hound would have liked it here. He would have saved this place rather than try and get home, I think we did the right thing.”
“But you can’t go home without it.”
“We’ll find another way. Primal might have something that can get us home. I mean he’s from the future right? They’ve probably got tons of ways to time travel by then. Prime said he’d get us home and I believe him.”
‘Raj and Hound can take care of themselves. That much he knows. Hound and Ironhide sparred plenty of times, he watched them and learned. Raj was one of the best operatives that Special Ops ever had. Hound was a scout with several honors attached to his name.
They were okay.
