Work Text:
On a cold winter afternoon, Mirio sat at his desk doing unfinished paperwork, while Tamaki slept on the couch. They moved in together after graduation, after the war had ended the two had decided it would be best for them. Mirio plans to ask Tamaki to marry him, he knows to ask him when they're alone, or the poor boy will go into a panic attack.
Tamaki walked over to Mirio, and wrapped his arms around his shoulders, Leaning into his warmth.
"How was your nap, Tama?" Mirio asked as the other boy placed himself in his lap.
"Cold." Tamaki whined, placing his head into the younger boy's neck.
"Well, if you'd put on pants you wouldn't be cold." Mirio teased. "I'm not complaining, you look amazing in my t-shirt." Mirio hugged Tamaki close to his body.
"Take a break, I need cuddles." Tamaki whispered into Mirio's ear.
"Alright." Mirio got up and carried Tamaki to the couch, covering them up with the blankets. Mirio hugged Tamaki close. "Wanna watch a movie butterfly?" Mirio asked the blushing Tamaki.
"Yeah, um can we watch Ratatouille?" Tamaki asked, moving on top of Mirio.
"Anything you ask Tama." Mirio smiled, playing with Tamaki's hair.

Tamaki fell asleep during the second movie, Mirio rubbed his back before gently moving the older boy off of him, Mirio smiled at his boyfriend, kissing the side of his head.
Mirio plans to ask him tonight, he needs to go to the store and get the stuff for tonight, including flowers and things to make a nice dinner for him.
After a few hours, Tamaki left with Hando. Mirio cleaned up the apartment, before heading out. He went to the store to get stuff to make Tamaki's favorite food.
Mirio went over to the flower shop to pick up his order, he bought red roses along with Yellow roses with red tips. After paying he made his way home.
He got started on the food while setting up the table. Mirio hummed to himself as he cooked the dinner, moving away from the diner he set up the table, placing the fancy plates and candles on to the table. Mirio put rose petals leading from the door to where the small table is set up.
Once the food was done, Mirio covered it with a lid so he could shower and get ready before he texts Hando to bring Tamaki home. After showering he made the bed, he made sure he had the ring in his pocket, before texting Hando to bring Tamaki home.
Once he got the notification that he was on his way upstairs, Mirio deemed the lights, lighting the candles, he'd already set the plates. He now stood in front of the door with the bouquet of roses he had picked out.
When Tamaki opened the door, his face went a bright shade of red once he saw Mirio.
"Mir-" Tamaki cut himself off when Mirio handed him the flowers.
"These are for you my beautiful butterfly." Mirio, holding Tamaki's hands into his much larger hands, Mirio pulled Tamaki over to the table Pulling out his chair, taking the flowers and placing them onto the counter.
"Mirio? What's all this for?" Tamaki asked.
"I'm just trying to spoil you, you deserve it." Mirio sent him a smile. The two began eating.
"Mirio. This is amazing, Thank you."
"Your welcome Butterfly, I have another surprise for you but you'll have to wait on that." Mirio smiled.
"What kind of surprise?"
"You'll find out soon enough." Mirio kissed his boyfriend's hand gently.
After the two had finished dinner, Tamaki was incredibly nervous. What kind of surprise? Before Tamaki could ask, Mirio got his attention.
"Tamaki, we've been dating for awhile now, we've been friends for even longer. I can't imagine my life without you, I love you Tamaki." Mirio smiled, getting up from his chair walking over to Tamaki, dropping down to one knee. Tamaki covered his face with the hand Mirio wasn't holding.
"Tamaki Amajiki, Will you do me the honor of marrying me?"
"YES!" Mirio pulled Tamaki into his arms, smiling widely. Mirio smiled, putting the ring onto his finger. Tamaki pulled Mirio in for a kiss, Mirio put his arms tightly around Tamaki's waist. Mirio smiled into the kiss, Tamaki pulled away from the lack of air.
"I love you so much Tama."
"I love you too, Mirio." Mirio placed the foreheads together as they tried to catch their breath.
"Want to take my last name?" Mirio asked, Tamaki got bright red and shoved his head into Mirio's neck.
"Of course I do." Tamaki whispered.
"Wanna take this to our room?" Mirio smirked even though Tamaki wouldn't see it.
"Why not." Tamaki smiled, Mirio made sure the candles were blown out before taking things to their bedroom.
