Your Love Is My Drug

Makoto had never known how comforting it was to wake up next to someone. Not until he got a boyfriend.

Work Text:

Makoto had never known how comforting it was to wake up next to someone. Not until he got a boyfriend.

He had never particularly enjoyed sleep. He normally stayed up playing games or just generally being online, maybe squeezing in some homework that he had forgotten, and waking up early for school no matter what. He never even considered having a good sleep schedule.

Not until Ritsu.

Ristu loved sleep, everyone knew that. He slept at every chance he could. Even if he shouldn’t. Makoto couldn’t count the amount of times he had walked into a room that should be locked, only to find Ritsu in there. At first, his immediate instinct was to call Mao and the redhead would take him away. But eventually… At some point, Makoto had started carrying him himself. That’s when he found out what Ritsu’s sleeping face looked like up close.

It was really cute.

Tremendously cute, even. Adorable. The way his face was completely at rest, his smooth hair framing his head. His lips were so red and his eyelashes were like the wings of an angel. The Sakumas were always described as creatures of the night, but Makoto was sure he could have mistaken Ritsu for someone fallen out of the heavens. He was just that cute.

Ritsu somehow made Makoto want to sleep. Really, he thought no one could do it. Even Trickstar was insanely surprised, they had tried everything. Yet all it took was one pretty boy for Makoto to start sleeping at good times. (He got teased for it endlessly- and still does.)

But laying here, Ritsu cuddled into his chest, his head angled up perfectly so Makoto could see his face, it was worth it. It was so worth it. To go to sleep next to a boy that was seemingly unreal, to waking up before him just to admire him. It was truly the routine Makoto lived for.

They had built this routine after they had started dating. Ritsu tended to be awake more at night, so before they would text until the early hours of the morning. But something had changed when they became official. Ritsu had started cuddling Makoto late at night in an absolutely addictive way.

He would cuddle up to Makoto’s side, maybe even sit in his lap, and then stroke Makoto’s head with his hand. He’d play with his hair and get Makoto to lean into his chest or side, it would lull him into a sleep without a doubt. The soft and comforting touches would plague him. Ritsu’s hands were so soft with the lack of work he did and Makoto loved holding them or feeling them. Ritsu knew how well this worked on him too, it was a blessing and a curse.

But Ritsu loved to sleep in. Makoto is beginning to believe he doesn’t wake up on his own because of how much he likes it. The worst part was, unlike Mao’s strong resolve, Makoto didn’t like waking Ritsu either. He loved admiring him for as long as possible.

Unfortunately, Makoto’s glasses were out of reach. He had slept on the opposite side of Ritsu’s bed from where he placed them, and everything was really blurry. It was hard to make out his face.. But Makoto was okay with just listening to the even breathing coming from the other, since looking too long without his glasses could give him a headache.

Eventually Ritsu had woken up, and when he slowly did, Makoto decided to open his eyes again (after totally not daydreaming about him.) He could just barely see the sleepy smile Ritsu had let cover his face, which he returned almost instantly.

“G’morning… Yuuchan…” Even his drowsy voice was adorable. His arms around Makoto tightened ever so slightly and he tilted his head up farther, Makoto could never miss his bright red eyes. Oh how he wished those eyes were his… but not in a weird way! Not at all. He just thought that if he woke up every day and looked in the mirror to see those eyes, he could never look away from himself. Surely he would get nothing done knowing how pretty he looks.

“Morning, Ritsu-kun.” He said in a sweet voice, the sweetest voice he could muster without looking absolutely hypnotized by the boy in front of him. But he definitely failed at that, he was under Ritsu’s spell.

“Mmmnnmm,, I like how Yuuchan sounds in the morning… his voice rumbles in his chest…” He giggles a bit, something that tightens the vice grip Ritsu has on Makoto’s heart.

“Yeah?” Makoto asked, partially to tease a still sleepy Ritsu who wouldn’t pick up on it.

“Yeepp… it feels nice… n sounds nice… Yuuchan is really handsome..” Makoto could feel his face heat up. He could never get used to Ritsu’s casual compliments! One day he’d get him back for it though. One day.

Makoto then got a sudden urge. He really wanted to kiss Ritsu. He loved kissing Ritsu. It was so nice to know that this beautiful boy loved him, and he took advantage of it at every turn. Like now, when he unapologetically leaned in to do just that.

But instead of being met with those pink lips, he was met with… nothing?

Ritsu had begun to laugh, he could feel the movement of his stomach against his own to accompany the soft sounds.

Oh.

Makoto had completely missed his face.

He could feel his face erupt in a bright red, one of his hands coming up to cover it in embarrassment. Seeing the recognition on his face, Ritsu could only laugh at him even more.

“Please forget I ever did that.” Real cool Makoto, real cool.

Ritsu shook his head, “noooooo that was so funny!” He reached one of his pale hands to grab Makoto’s wrist, trying to pull his hand away from his face to see him.

Makoto groaned into his hand, Ritsu eventually being able to move it away to see him clearly again. Makoto almost didn’t want to open his eyes, what was the point if he obviously couldn’t see!? If he could dissolve into the bed or be swept away and turn to dust right now he would.

He felt soft lips against his cheek. Ritsu– who hadn’t stopped giggling– was kissing his face. He felt him move down from his cheek, to his jaw, to his other cheek. “It’s okay Yuuchan~ that was really cute.”

“It was lame..” Makoto complained, looking to the side. He avoided looking at Ritsu (even though the action didn’t matter with the quality of his vision.)

“It was lame in a cute way~” Ritsu kissed his nose.

“I don’t think those two work together…”

“They do! It’s why I like you~ you’re suuuper lame, it makes me want to kiss you.” He smiled, and Makoto didn’t know whether to be offended or not.

“Is that supposed to be a compliment…!?”

Ritsu shrugged, kissing Makoto on the lips. “Maybe, take it how you want~” He then moved to snuggle into Makoto’s chest. He let his eyes close and his hold on him tightened. Makoto could tell that this was him getting ready to take a nap.

He would’ve thought it was adorable, and for a second he did, before focusing back in.

“Wait- Ritsu-kun I need to get my glasses!!!”

But it was too late. Ritsu had already begun to let out soft snores, and Makoto was now trapped. He had no other choice but to succumb to his fate.

His soft, comfortable, vampiric fate.
