Work Text:

Craig tapped his foot against the concrete repeatedly, every minute that passed felt like hours as he stared at the time on his phone.

He and Tweek had planned to go to the carnival together, seeing as the first time they went there, it wasn’t all that pleasant. The both of them were dedicated to make up for that time though, in fact, Tweek was so dedicated that he came up with the idea that he’d leave his phone at his home so there could be nothing to distress him.

Craig thought this was a great idea, until he had to wait for Tweek to show up. He knew Tweek was late to things most of the time, that’s why Craig would always tell him the time of their meetup would be 30 minutes earlier than what he had initially planned.

But now that Craig had to just stand outside of the carnival entrance with his phone in hand and his empty hand buried deep into the depths of his pocket, he couldn’t help but get impatient. He didn’t like not knowing things, usually when Tweek was late he’d text Tweek to ask where he was or if he was going to arrive soon, but he couldn’t do that now, he wouldn’t know if Tweek got stuck in traffic or even if he had gotten run over somehow.

Craig knew that he was overthinking, he began to believe that Tweeks paranoia was in some way contagious. Tweek was a very cautious person, always avoided crossing roads unless within a large group of people and always stayed away from unfamiliar faces and suspicious looking people, and especially never exploring the unknown unless he had been dragged to by the main four.

Craig took a deep breath.

He did not want to think about Tweek getting dragged into one of their shenanigans while he was on his way.

Finally, after what felt like ages, he heard his named being called by a raspy voice. People say that it’s a miracle that he never gets sick of hearing it all of the time.

“Craig!” He turned his head to the right to see Tweek running up to him while waving with an arm. Once Tweek reached the noirette, he gripped his jacket and then turned to look behind him. Craig raised an eyebrow, looking down the sidewalk but not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

“Oh jeez, I swore there was—there was someone following me! Gah!” Tweek panted, clutching onto his shirt, and jerking his head to the side.

Craig looked back up at Tweek, “It’s alright babe, you’re safe now.” Craig reassured. He did not believe that someone was following Tweek, he knew Tweek was just being paranoid, but Craig had learned how to approach Tweek properly, in a way that they both benefited from.

Tweek closed his eyes and breathed in and out before smiling at Craig crookedly. His slightly crooked and coffee-stained teeth showed and despite other people thinking the sight was appalling, Craig didn’t agree. He smiled back; it was a small, closed-mouth smile and didn’t last more than a couple seconds, but it was enough to make Tweeks heart skip a beat.

“C’mon.” Craig said, holding his hand out, which Tweek took into his own without a second thought. “Remember, leave your worries out here, we’re here to have fun, yeah?” Craig squeezed Tweeks and and Tweek looked ahead of the entrance and nodded, a confident smile growing as he straightened his back posture. “Fun.” Tweek repeated to himself, for good measure.

They both stepped past the entrance, confident they’d have a much better time compared to the last time they came.

The result was pleasant, they got cotton candy like they did before and went on the Faris Wheel since it was Tweeks favorite. Tweek had a small worry that the ride would break down while they were on it but reminded himself that this was not the time to worry and went for it anyways, luckily for the both of them, everything went well.

The two went on all the rides they were allowed to go on, sometimes even multiple times. There was one ride that made Tweek throw up as soon as he got out and Craig was sure that Tweek would begin to freak out at that very moment but to his surprise, Tweek smiled.

“This is so fucking gross, man.” Tweek grinned and Craig was so stunned for a moment that all he could do was stare. “I’m hungry.” Tweek added, Craig snapped himself out of his trance, staying silent before speaking up. “You want to eat after you threw up?” Craig asked, as if he couldn’t believe it.

Tweek blushed out of embarrassment but nodded, nonetheless. Craig let out a breathy laugh before helping Tweek clean up so they could head out to buy some food. Craig couldn’t deny that he was hungry too.

They ordered two cokes and Tweek got two large slices of pizza while Craig stuck with a simple corndog, they decided to sit down in an empty table that conveniently had two chairs.

“Are you sure you’re going to be able to eat all that?” Craig asked, taking a bite out of his corndog. Tweek nodded eagerly, “Definitely, I think I’ll have to ask for more!” Tweek took an abnormal bite out of his pizza, Craig was both concerned and impressed. He took a large sip of his coke and was about to take another bite out of his corndog but suddenly, inhaled sharply and hiccupped.

The two boys froze in place, Tweek looked up at Craig who was already staring at him, then Craig jumped up slightly before hiccupping again.

There was a long silence and by the third hiccup Craig let out, Tweek started laughing. “Pfffttt—Craig—Do you—Do you have the hiccups? Heheh!” Tweek giggled, Craig frowned, flushing a dark red and tugging at the strings on his chullo. “N—hic—o” Craig immediately slapped a hand over his mouth to mute his hiccups to no avail.

Tweek proceeded to throw a laughing fit, having to place his pizza down on a napkin to hold his stomach that was starting to hurt and to cover his mouth, trying to hold back his laughs after seeing Craigs annoyed expression but not being able to quiet down in the slightest.

“Shut up! -hic-“ Craig huffed, eating his corndog angrily.

After a few minutes of Tweek laughing he was finally able to collect himself. “It’s not that -hic- funny, honestly.” The noirette rolled his eyes. “Mgh—Yeah it is.” Tweek laughed quietly, he then proceeded to rapidly eat his pizza, remembering that his stomach was practically empty. He felt his chest tighten and he gasped harshly, squeezing his shirt.

“Tweek! Don’t eat so quickly!” Craig scolded. Tweek reached out for his soda and sipped it allowing himself to properly swallow his food before going down to bite on his second pizza. In the middle of eating it, he felt another tight feeling in his chest but this time it was different, it traveled from his stomach, up his chest and then to the back of his throat where it finally escaped and he hiccupped.

Silence fell once more and Craig laughed nasality, he was interrupted by a hiccup but continued to laugh which caused Tweek to laugh with him.

They both laughed together, hiccupping one after the other.

Each time one of them would hiccup the other would laugh, causing the loop to go on for a good 5 minutes before they both decided they had to settle down after seeing a couple people walk past them and give them concerned looks.

Neither one of them would admit it but they would willingly have the hiccups forever if it meant they could hear the other laugh every time they did.
