Chapter 1: Meryl’s Meetings

Chapter Text

Meryl crosses something out on her clipboard and looks up at the room. “Alright, there’s only one more thing to go over. Wolfwood?” She raised an eyebrow at him.

He groans.

“Look, if you know what I’m going to say, I shouldn’t have to say it again.” She sighs. “Stop flirting with the crowd. Please.”

“Merrryl” Wolfwood frowns at her. “It’s all harmless fun! Besides the ladies love it! And most of the fellas too.” He winks at Vash, who’s laying on the couch next to him with his feet in the air and his head hanging off the front.

“Nicholassss.” Meryl glares at him with an even higher level of irritation than before. “Just.“ She groans. “Try? Can you do that?”

“I’ll only flirt with dear Vashie here on stage, if that’s what you’re saying.” Wolfwood smiles down at Vash, playing with his hair as the lead singer smiles.

A strum of a guitar string comes from the opposite side of the room, where Knives sat with his guitar in his lap, tuning it.

Meryl sighs. These three were going to be the death of her. She turns and smiles in his direction. “Yes Knives? Any opinions.”

“I don’t want to see my little brother flirting on stage like some common whore.” He glares at Wolfwood and Vash as they sit peacefully on the couch together.

“Knives,” Vash returns his glare, still sitting upside down. “I’ve been dating Wolfwood for six months now. I think you need to relax a little.”

He grumbles something and goes back to fiddling with his guitar.

“Well then.” Meryl scribbles something on her notepad. “Milly! Do you have anything to add?”

The drummer looks up from her spot on the floor where she’s been wrapping her sticks in their customary green and gold wrappings. “Hm? I agree with whatever Meryl said.”

“Ugh!” Meryl groans. “You weren’t even listening were you?” To which Milly shakes her head. “Great!” She flops on the couch next to Wolfwood.

“Look, little lady. I could flirt with you, ya know. That might fix your problem.” He leans in close and winks.

Two death glares come at him from both Meryl and Knives.

He raises his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. I won’t. But I will do this.” He grabs the clipboard from Meryl’s hands ignoring her protests.

“Let’s see.” He clicks his tongue. “Oh this is a good one.”

“Hold on let me see!” Vash rotates about the couch, almost knocking everything off a table in the process before he’s sitting right side up again. “Tell Wolfwood not to be a slut? Meryl.”

“Milly pay attention?” Wolfwood reads another one of her handwritten notes. “She does fine look at her!” The drummer smiles up from on the floor as she finishes wrapping her drumsticks.

“Oh oh here’s a gem! Knives stop being an overprotective older brother challenge.” Vash laughs as Knives glares at him.

“Give that back!” Meryl shouts and grabs the clipboard out of his hands.

“Sorry Meryl.” Vash frowns, “it was all in good fun. We didn’t mean any harm.” He nudges Wolfwood.

“It’s fine.” Meryl sighs. “Now go on, get ready. You’ve got a concert in a few hours.”

“Yes ma’am.” Vash and Wolfwood say at the same time with a laugh as the band walks out of the room.
