Chapter Text
Peng has always been quick to anger, maybe even a little cowardly at times, not that they would ever admit it. But here they were, stuck, with multiple idiots, stripped of their armor, power and dignity. At this point Azure's fate might have been more desirable.
"Come on Peng, don't get your feathers in a bunch!" Mk laughed, trying to lighten the mood, "We aren't all that bad!" Peng scowled.
Not this moron, he's been following Peng like a lost puppy trying to 'talk about their feelings' and 'welcome them to the group' at least the others had the common sense to leave them alone.
"Don't touch me! And leave me alone, monkey!" Shrugging a hand off his shoulder Peng glared at Mk.
"I don't want anything to do with your 'little group' so just go away already!"
Mk frowned, "I'm just trying to make the best out of this!" Despite Peng's bad attitude Mk can't help but feel sympathetic to the guy, he couldn't imagine losing any of his friends. Especially in such a heart wrenching way and be able to still remain so impassive.
Wukong was quick to step in, putting himself in between the two, "Peng, look, if you keep talking to my successor like that." He paused, staring at the taller demon. "I might just call Nezha, I won't hesitate to have you and Yellowtusk put back in the scroll."
Peng couldn't hold the Monkey King's gaze, they would hold their tongue even just for the sake of their last remaining brother. Though, Peng's self-preserving nature might have had more to do with it than truly having remaining loyalty to the brotherhood.
"Mk doesn't have to do this you know, some of us would rather you not be here-" Wukong's rant was abruptly stopped by a very upset Mk.
"No, no one's calling anyone, Peng didn't do anything wrong!" He hesitated "Right now… at least."
Rolling their eyes, they finally managed to slip away, retreating to the dingy little fire escape. Silently praying to whatever god that would listen that they would finally be left alone to just breathe, hopefully without Wukong and his little friends pestering them.
Of course not, of course they couldn't have this one, little, thing.
"Macaque." Peng sighed, of course, it had to be him, while waiting for the monkey to respond they debated returning to the torture that was that little yapping brat.
Macaque just stared, seemingly analyzing the other demon before he dramatically 'snapped out of it' "Sorry, it's just been awhile since I've seen any other part of you besides your back."
"You know, you and your 'bad habit' or as you like to call it 'self-preservation'" Macaque provoked "More like running away."
"At least I'm not the one who is all 'buddy buddy' with a traitor." Peng hissed in response, rolling their eyes.
"HA! Says the little bird who abandoned their friend the first chance they got." Macaque crossed his arms. "You wouldn't know loyalty if it hit you in the face."
"You aren't worth all this fuss, monkey."
"Yeah, and you are the one who came out here." Macaque grunted, before pushing them out of the way.
Uninterested in continuing the conversation Macaque went back inside, Peng almost pitied the demon, but better him than them. They didn't know If they could last another minute with all the questions and annoyance. At the very least these are the people Macaque chose to be around, no matter how foolish or confusing Peng found that, it's how it is.
What an interesting group to befriend, a backstabbing idiot and his little group of blind followers.
Peng couldn't help but laugh, yep, they were fucked, and badly, this was it, it was either this or going back into the scroll. And honestly, the scroll didn't seem too bad anymore.
At least the scroll didn't look at them with eyes full of pity, or insult them. And it didn't act like it was doing them a favor by 'taking them in' like they were some lost mutt on the street. But this was it.
The brat wasn't going to let them escape this cruel fate, Peng was stuck with Wukong.
And they couldn't have hated it more.
