Chapter Text
The line in Angel’s Share is always long after classes for the day end at Teyvat University. The target consumers were the students of course. The environment the cafe offers is a suitable place for stressed out students looking for their fix of caffeine for an extra boost of energy to be spent on unfinished papers and projects.
Lumine pretty much sees the same faces everyday, she likes to give a friendly impression to her customers seeing as they are in the same boat as her. Tired. She memorized people’s orders, names, and proper spelling. So she has no problem when the students come flooding through the door for some coffee.
However, it was Childe’s first time visiting Angel’s Share. He had heard from Kaeya that the coffee here was the best coffee in the city (Although he probably was just promoting his family’s business) Childe decided to pay it a visit for that dose of caffeine his body needs for a thesis he had been procrastinating until the last minute.
What he did not think through is that he got in line despite not knowing what to order.
“What kind of cafe serves drinks based on descriptions of how sweet or thick a drink is!?” He thought to himself as the person in front of him got called to the counter for his order.
So here he was, next in line to be called and still did not have a drink in mind.
“What even is a Moonlit Alley?” He frustratingly scratched his head reading the menu board. “I’ll just order something random and be on my way.”
Lumine was punching in an order when she noticed the tall ginger haired man next in line looking frustrated. She could not help but wonder if he had never been here before. She had never seen the guy around so maybe he was new.
Her current customer paid for their drink and thanked Lumine and proceeded to the side. “Next-”
“Let me take the next customers, you’ve got a thesis to work on right?” Diluc, her boss interrupted her before she could call for the next in line.
“Thanks, you’re the best!” Lumine sighed in relief, she really needed to get the paper done. She went to the back, took off her work apron, and found a comfortable seat at the corner of the cafe for some productive schoolwork time.
As she left her post, the next customer walked up still without a drink in mind.
“Ah, Diluc, thank the archons. What the heck are these drink names, Night of swirling stars? Caramel Pinecone? They sound more like alcoholic drinks to me than coffee” Childe teased.
“They weren’t named by me. So what do you want, Ajax?” Diluc replied unsurprised that the ginger reacted this way. He is stupid.
“Just give me something simple, please.”
“Iced Coffee it is” Diluc said as he punched the order in.
When Childe got his order and proceeded out of the cafe straight to his apartment. He took a sip of the drink as he walked.
“It’s actually not bad.” he thought and proceeded off for a long night of writing.
