Work Text:
Cale Henituse is not the type of person to pass up an opportunity, much less if it's something he wants.
He's also the type who doesn't like to waste his time. So when the God of Death told him that Lee Soo Hyuk had been reincarnated into that world with all his memories, and had woken up with a red thread stretching beyond the horizon, which apparently no one else was able to see, it didn't take long for him to prepare to disappear.
Making up a few excuses here and there, forming small groups that would keep each other busy until late into the night and waiting until everyone was too distracted to notice he was gone, he threw note out there and took off.
Endable Kingdom looks better than he remembers it, but at that moment he couldn't care less, not when he finally gets to see the red thread glowing in someone else's hand, creating a stark contrast against the pale skin that now belongs to Lee Soo Hyuk.
“How long,” a "Hyung" slips to the tip of his tongue, but just like in the past, it doesn't make it out of his mouth.
“Aigo, I heard that my Dongsaeng has been causing a lot of trouble while I wasn't here.” The voice that answers him is soft, more melodious than his memories, like the tone you'd expect from a bird (or maybe he's just making that association because of the wings on the man's back), but with the same love he always felt when he heard it.
The sight is strange, alien to the visions that overlap with reality, but yet so similar. The warm gaze, the shape of the smile, that confident yet open posture, the aura so striking that it made you want to follow him to the end of the world, none of it had changed. The body, the shape, the color, the height, only that was different.
A thousand different words, an explosion of emotions that crashed together like water and oil pressed against the edges of his being. There was so much he wanted to say, so much he wanted to express, so much he wanted to do, but he had no idea where to begin.
Although that was nothing new, he had never had a clear idea about how to start acting on what he wanted, least of all when it came to Lee Soo Hyuk.
Luckily for him, he didn't need to do anything at all.
“Did you mis—”
Before he can finish, arms still outstretched in the air, Cale squeezes him in a hug, using what little strength his body has to make sure he can't pull him apart, though he's sure he could pull it off without any effort at all.
The reincarnate's laughter rumbles inside his chest and spreads in tremors throughout his body. The Henituse doesn't bother to complain, pressing his burning face tighter against the other's shoulder.
“I missed you too, Rok Soo-yah.”
