Life outside the chains

Summary:

Brought up in the mines, D-16 caught the attention of a particular researcher that used the illusion of family and freedom to give D-16 a "new life". The researcher adopted D-16 only to experiment on him and his abilities. These Projects were deemed "The Eva Projects", producing 13 genetically modified Cybertronians that were then classified to dangerous and were promptly exterminated, allegedly. Now with the facility destroyed, the research team dead, and the arrival of a newborn, Megatron must learn to life in this new life he made for himself. Will he cope?

Notes:

Wow, I disappear and all the sudden, BAM, new work.

But no, I was in the US Army Basic Combat Training and am currently in Advance Individual Training.

Due to some Medical stuff, I'm stuck here a lot longer than I am supposed to be.

I wrote this story in a journal during my time in BCT as I couldn't have my phone or any electronics. Hand writing a story is pretty fun, however I really find it boring reading my own story and typing it out. I have/am changing aspects of the story to either be smoother or not be so drab. I will try to update weekly and so far I have at least 20 chapters plus a part 3 I made. I'll try and update as often as time and medical permits.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Revelation and retribution

Chapter Text

Being the fearsome warmonger is difficult when you are covered in colorful markers because you fell asleep watching your toddler. The upside to falling asleep is encouraging the little to sleep as well, even if said little one is sleeping on your scaley and yet fuzzy back, using your wings as a blanket.

Megatron woke up from his nap, picking his helm up off the floor and stretching his legs out and flexing his wings and claws. He stilled when he felt small, clawed servos tug at the fur between his scales and he peaked over his shoulder. "Good afternoon, dear one." Said toddler wiggled her tail and slid off of her carrier's back. She was a near identical to her carrier. The reason, she was the first Cybertronian to be born from only one parent.

Megatron went through his day like normal, drinking his rations and completing his daily duties aboard the Nemesis. Around Mid-day, he decided to grab two extra cubes, he was feeling more hungry. By the time dinner passed, he was too tired to get his evening rations, let alone do anything else. He put a note in to Knockout's office for mild abdominal pain that has been building since that morning. The following day, he doubled over in pain and was rushed off to the Med bay. Once there, they discovered he was sparked and he was already in labor.

Several grueling hours later, and a small femme was born, looking identical to Megatron when he was born. After a bit of rest, Megatron was released from the Med Bay and sat down with Optimus to discuss the new addition.

~Back to the present~

"Naru? Naaaaaruuuu~?" Megatron searched all over the habsuite, lifting furniture, opening doors and checking the shadows. "Now where could she be? If I can't find her soon, she won't get her breakfast." At the sound of food, a small gasp emitted from the shadows in the corner of the ceiling. Two optics brightened and Naru uncloaked herself before jumping to Megatron's arms. "Hello, dear one. You've certainly improved." Megatron walked out of the habsuite and made his way to the exit. "Ready to go hunt." Naru flexed her claws and let out a small mewl, attempting to roar.

"My, my, what a mighty roar." Optimus crossed paths with Megatron and they walked together towards the exit on the ship. "Where might you two be wandering off to this quiet morning?" Megatron simply continued walking, "We're gonna go hunt for some breakfast. Most likely deer or another small prey." A deep frown set on the Prime's face and he sighed, "She's only one, are you sure it's wise to take her on your hunt." Megatron shrugged. "It's going to happen eventually, better to do it while she's young and doesn't try to her hurt doing her own thing." Optimus listened to Megatron's reasoning, "Very well. May I accompany you?" Megatron smiled and the trio walked out to the deck.

Deep in a forested mountain, Megatron was crouched on all fours, scales matching the colors of the forest. Naru was perched on a branch, following her carrier's lead. Optimus on the other hand was covered in mud that he rolled in, totally didn't accidentally fall in. A large herd of deer came running up the mountain and ran past the trio. Megatron hummed to himself before slowly stepping out of the trees, "Something large had spooked them." Megatron peered down the hill to see what might give him a good fight. Nothing stuck out to him and laid down on the ground.

"See anything?" No response, "Megatron?" Nothing. "Love?" Optimus came to Megatron's side only to find needles jabbed between his scales in his neck. Tranquilizers, Optimus called to Naru all he got in response was a loud yelp as he spun around to see the same thing. Optimus attempted to call for backup when all he heard was static. "Megatron, wake up!" Optimus attempted to shake him awake and he continued to search the area around him looking for the attackers.

Soon the attackers exited the forest and, they were humans. Optimus dove behind Megatron's unconscious body and used it to hide himself. "Get the large one loaded up." A female called and soon Optimus had to decide what to do. He doesn't kill humans. Optimus pulled out a flash grenade Bulkhead had given him in case of emergency. He pulled the pin and threw it in the air, covering his optics. Once the bang sounded he dashed towards Naru and made a run for the woods. He would have to get Naru to safety before he could go back for Megatron. He knew Megatron was tough, he would survive, he always did.

Optimus took shelter in what looked to be an abandoned barn. He would gather his strength in here before he continued his journey. "Hello?" A small voice came from behind Optimus. A human found him and Naru.
