best thing that's ever been mine

Summary:

“I think I’m in love with you.” Suho said, right as the realization hit him square in the chest. He was left breathless with it, not being able to overthink the consequences of his own words. He loved Sieun. Oh God, he loved him. “I don’t think so. I’m sure. I’m… Sieun-ah, I’m in love with you.”

Where Suho finally questions his own actions and realizes his feelings.

Work Text:

Suho was dripping with sweat by the time he arrived at the ceremony. Just in time, too, because he could see Sieun walking up to the stage. His Sieun had won an award for his outstanding grades in their last year of college, and Suho had promised his best friend that he would be there, no matter his work schedule. Suho had to beg a coworker to fill his shift for the day, and was successful in his escapade. Everything would have worked out perfectly if not for the asshole who had… All but demolished his parked motorcycle. Suho had no idea how could someone be so fucking blind, but he didn’t have any time to worry about the money it would take to fix it, or to get mad and fight about it. Without his motorcycle he would barely make it on time.

And so, he ran non-stop once he realized the bus line that could take him there was out of service today of all days. He only stopped to buy a bouquet of pretty red roses, because that’s what… What people who care for each other do to celebrate each other’s accomplishments. He already knew that Sieun’s parents wouldn’t be there, they never were, and that made the occasion even more important for Suho. Sieun deserved to be recognized.

“Yeon Sieun!” His name was called as he received the award. A slow round of scattered applause started across the room, but it wasn’t enough. Not for his Sieun. Carefully leaving the bouquet in his seat, Suho stood up and started clapping as loudly and excitedly as he could without hurting himself.

“Woooo! Sieun-ah!” He yelled with a smile, and Sieun turned to look at him with a sheepish smile. His beautiful face was blushing but he looked really pleased. Suho sat down satisfied. He loved making Sieun feel like that.

As the ceremony came to an end, Sieun approached him and Suho offered him the flowers, feeling shy all of a sudden. Sieun looked at him with surprise. “For- Are these for me?” Sieun stuttered, grabbing them with hesitation. Suho nodded, smiling. “You didn’t have to…”

“I wanted to.” He answered simply. Sieun nodded, avoiding making eye contact with Suho.

“Thank you, Suho-yah…” Sieun kept blushing and Suho found it hard to focus when his eyes traveled all across Sieun’s pink cheeks and down his neck… “Suho?”

“What? Sorry. What did you say?” Suho asked, flustered at being caught staring and zoning out. Sieun smiled slightly, and Suho felt his heart going faster.

“I asked where’s your motorcycle.”

“Oh… Someone crashed into it. I’ll have to take it to the car workshop tomorrow.” Suho said, shrugging. He had forgotten completely about it, to be honest. “Let me take you to eat something.”

“But… The bus line is… Did you walk all the way here?” Sieun mumbled, ignoring Suho’s kind invitation.

“More like I ran.” Suho joked, but it didn’t seem like the right thing to say, because Sieun was staring at him with his hypnotizing eyes like he wanted to say something. “I just… I didn’t want to be late, not for this.”

“I’ve received plenty of awards. This wasn’t anything special and yet you… You bought me flowers and…” Sieun was almost whispering, looking up at Sieun with so many feelings that it was becoming harder and harder for Suho’s brain to catch up.

“If it’s about you, it’s special. At least to me.” Suho said back, confused.

“Why?”

Well, because it’s about you. Because you’re special to me. Because you’re the brightest light in my life. Because no one had ever made me feel like you do. Because…

Oh.

Suho only had a few seconds to stare at Sieun’s glowing face and growing smile before he grabbed Suho’s shirt collar and pulled hard. Their mouths crashed, and Suho grabbed Sieun’s soft cheeks between his hands as Sieun surrounded Suho’s neck, standing on his tiptoes. Their smiles kept breaking their kisses, but they didn’t care. They had each other.
