Good evening, due to inclement weather, the flight to Toronto, Ontario will be delayed until 8 am tomorrow morning. Thank you for understanding and have a great night.
Reki glares at the speaker and huffs, this was supposed to be their first trip outside of Okinawa together. Langa suggested they go to his hometown for a bit for a graduation trip and it took almost a month of convincing for both of their families to agree. This was going to be the trip Reki wanted to finally confess to Langa. He spent months learning more English in an attempt to surprise Langa when they got to Canada. God knows how long it took for him to even psych himself up to decide to confess.
And now they’re stuck in the airport since 8 am now having to wait another 10 hours.
Turning to his right he admires how Langa looked elegant even while asleep, or maybe that was just his own rose-tinted glasses talking. He shook Langa’s shoulder, grumbling when his friend's head just flops to the side, no sign of consciousness. He tried to shake his shoulder a little harder, but still, Langa remained softly snoring against the airport bench.
He sighs before standing up and mockingly saying out loud, “Oh wow, poutine in an airport?” He pretends to act shocked looking towards Langa waiting for a reaction.
Maybe he could kiss him awake-
Nope, nope, nope, ending that thought right there.
He looks towards the source of all his current struggles, to find him still snoring. Reki gives up and simply flicks Langa’s forehead, sparking him to life.
“What the-” Langa jolts up and looks around before realizing what happened and leans back into the chair. “What was that for?” He whines rubbing the spot he got flicked. Honestly, even his whining is adorable.
“Our flight got canceled until tomorrow so we’ll just have to find a hotel for tonight or something,” Reki explains, hefting up his luggage. Langa grumbles a bit but obliges, packing his own luggage as well. They start the trek back to the main lobby of the airport, both exhausted from having to wait the entire day doing nothing.
“Do you want to get dinner yet?” Reki asks, Langa’s stomach rumbles in response. Reki laughs but Langa seems unbothered, “to the food court it is then,” he quickly grabs Langa’s hand and pivots towards the smell of food.
Once they picked a small booth they headed to the string of small food stalls to pick out their meals. Even though it’s quite late there’s still a good number of people strolling about, most probably in the same situation as the pair.
The food court had an array of different cuisines from fast food to surprisingly authentic-looking places. The two boys started walking along the food court scanning the food and skimming the menus up above.
“So what do you want to get?” Reki asks, subtly keeping his hand locked with Langa. The boy didn’t seem to think much of it so there’s no way he wouldn’t stay as long as he could.
Langa looked around before shrugging, “I don’t really care, why don’t you choose?” Langa looks towards Reki, and damn maybe he should go to more airports because the lighting is doing wonders for his view right now. Langa tilts his head, snapping Reki back to awareness.
“Oh right, uh sure, I was thinking Canadian?” He quickly spits out before immediately face-palming in his head.
Canadian? In an Okinawa airport? Reki, pull yourself together!
His entire internal panic was seemingly unnoticed, Langa agrees and starts pulling Reki along to look for Canadian food. Once again, Reki is reminded as he’s gently tugged along that they’re still holding hands.
Almost like a couple.
Eventually, they settle into the booth, Reki with a burger and a serving of “authentic” poutine (at least that’s what the vendor said, but based on Langa’s grumbling, it probably wasn’t). Langa sat next to him with a tray stacked full of burgers and a few servings of fries. Where all the food that his friend eats Reki will never know.
They’re sitting shoulder to shoulder watching the newest models of skateboards but all Reki can focus on is the heat from the body contact with Langa. Sitting close like this was never really new for them, but now that he’d steeled himself to actually confess to Langa eventually it felt like all his senses were heightened. He slowly looked over to Langa and just admired his profile before turning back to the video and zoning out.
“Hey doesn’t that look kinda like the wheels you made?”
Reki quickly snaps his head to Langa, “Huh?”
“I said, doesn't that look kinda like the wheels that you made when skating against Adam?” Langa repeats, pointing towards the paused video. Reki follows his finger and sees slick black wheels that have similar ridges that he did.
“Oh yeah, I guess so,” Reki agrees, “crazy coincidence huh?” He looks back to Langa who reaches out and cups his cheek.
Reki freezes upon contact and it takes everything in him not to react suddenly. Langa just holds him for a minute, pinning him down with his eyes, before swiping his thumb across the corner of Reki’s mouth revealing a gravy.
“And you say I’m a messy eater,” Langa jokes, licking the gravy off his finger.
This time Reki couldn’t stop and his face turned beet red. “Yeah, yeah,” he quickly concedes, turning back to the video, hoping Langa didn’t notice his blush too much. “Come on, we need to find a hotel after this.”
Langa just smiled and turned back to the video as well.
After they cleaned up they managed to get to an information desk where they could ask for a place to stay for the night.
“Well aren’t you two lucky, this is the last room we have available right now,” the clerk quickly handed them a room key and sent them on their way.
“Finally I’m exhausted and I didn’t even do anything today,” Reki groans, swinging the door open. Langa follows close behind, closing the door behind them. As he walked into the room, Reki froze, seeing a glaring problem.
The room consisted of a small desk and a chair, a small couch, a dresser, and a single bed.
“The last room we have available”
Ah, shit.
Langa stepped past Reki quickly setting down the bags before flopping onto the bed and rolling over to one side. Reki still hadn’t moved an inch, mind still moving a mile a minute. Langa looks up from the bed and sees Reki still standing and pulls him onto the bed with a soft thump.
“I know you’re tired too, just sleep and we can get cleaned up in the morning,” Langa urges, starting to pull the covers.
“Wait!” Reki grabs his hand, “You’re ok with sharing a bed?” Langa raised an eyebrow at that.
“Yes? Why wouldn’t I be?”
Reki felt his face heat up in embarrassment, “well I mean, I thought you’d only want to sleep with someone like a couple,” Reki mutters looking down at his hands.
“Aren’t we a couple?”
His head snapped up at the question.
Huh?
“Huh?”
