Nothing.

Summary:

UPDATE: Inactive but I might revisit it one day!

Card game bonding can lead to conversation, which leads to questions. questions which are answered with a lie. Nothing. It wasn't just "Nothing." Getting your arm cut off isnt just nothing.

“What was it like?”

“What was what like?” Ballister replied to the question asked by Nimona, breaking the tension of a card game, a card game which Ballister at the moment seemed to be losing.

“Ya know, running away with-'' she gestured at the robotic arm before tilting her head a bit and making a thinking expression. “-maybe not with. Let me reword that, how about lack thereof of an arm? Genuine question.” She placed another card down, still doing better than Ballister in this game of luck.

Chapter Text

“What was it like?”

“What was what like?” Ballister replied to the question asked by Nimona, breaking the tension of a card game, a card game which Ballister at the moment seemed to be losing.

“Ya know, running away with-'' she gestured at the robotic arm before tilting her head a bit and making a thinking expression. “-maybe not with. Let me reword that, how about lack thereof of an arm? Genuine question.” She placed another card down, still doing better than Ballister in this game of luck.

“The arm? Running away with..? Well I don’t take it off, what are you getting at?” Ballister questioned as he squinted at the cards on the table before looking at his own hand, making an expression that clearly cemented that the knight was losing this round. The good news about that at least was the survival of his cards for one more game, the next time Nimona loses though Ballister already knew the cards would be reduced to ash as they’d move to yet another game.

“No no, that’s not what I mean. You know like… when it first got cut off? You told me you didn’t keep it, I mean like what do you even do in that situation?” Nimona asked as she added a slight laugh to her question before looking up at Ballister, a toothy smile ever so present. Down another card went, still in the winning lead.

“…Oh… Nothing, it was like nothing.” He spoke with a pause before looking back at the card game, the realization dawning on him of a mistake made by Nimona in the last round giving Ballister the upper hand as he laid down a card, now in the winning lead.

“WHAT- unfair!” Nimona playfully shouted as she flicked a card at the man sitting across from her, earning her a smile.

The truth is however, it wasn’t just.. nothing.
