Surprisingly or not, Noelle, Asta and Secre had a little sleepover in Asta's room (because Asta isn't allowed in the part where girls sleep). That is they did a bunch of things you can do on a sleepover, like talking and eating snacks but they didn't sleep over. Because Noelle did not agree to that. To be honest, Noelle berly agreed to what they settled for, even though it was her idea and Asta just said he wouldn't mind. After that she got nervous about being with Asta one on one so she invited Secre as well. She didn't have to, she would be there anyway as a bird, because that's where she sleeps.
"Stupid Asta, you kept us here for so long, it's the middle of the night" they decided to end the hangout after Noelle got tired and wanted to sleep.
"But I never said you couldn't leave, so how is that my fault?" She knows he was right about that, however the princess was in a strong denial that it could be her own fault.
"I don't know, think about it yourself" Secre, who was sitting on the table watching them and occasionally saying something, rolled her eyes. "I'm leaving now. Good night you two." Noelle said more calmly now.
"Yeah, night Noelle!" Asta answered and after that she left.
'Shit, why am I like this?' Noelle mentally face palmed thinking about what she said. She doesn't like being mean to Asta, but she also can't stop doing it. At least he doesn't take it too seriously and never gets mad about it.
After a while of screaming in her head Noelle remembered she's now outside Asta's room, still leaning against the door, so she should probably get going unless she wants someone to catch her red handed. She didn't really do anything wrong, but seeing a girl coming out of a boys room in the middle of night? Someone would surely think that's suspicious, so it's best to avoid being seen.
Just as she walked a few steps away she heard a door creak. After seeing it wasn't just Asta trying to tell her something else she panicked and froze in place not knowing what to do. She doesn't have time to run away, it's over! Noelle thought about some excuses she could use to explain why she was there, but then she noticed that the door was opened by Gauche who was letting Grey out of his room.
"Of course I'm not going to keep you here against your will, so sure, if you want to just go" he was probably trying to say something else but was interrupted by the woman's scream after she saw Noelle standing in the dark.
"Noelle?!" She said a little quieter. Gauche looked in her direction in disbelief.
"... Hell no" he backed up a bit and slammed his door leaving Grey (who was now even more nervous) in the corridor and only realized it's not the best idea after a solid second "Sorry" he said right after he came back "You forget about it and don't tell anyone"
"As if I wanted to!" Noelle said but covered her mouth after realizing she might be a bit too loud "What is all this anyway?"
"Uh, well" Grey tried to say something but she couldn't because she was too embarrassed and her stutter got worse. That just caused her to give up and bury her face in her hands.
"We don't have to explain anything to you" Gauche took control over the situation. "Why don't we ask what you're doing here? You're hanging out with Asta? The guy you don't like so much?"
"I'm not hanging out with Asta! Nero was there too!" Noelle's face got red "And I don't dislike him!"
"It sure looks like that"
"Why are you even asking me when you won't tell what you were doing yourself, huh?" Noelle realized that a bit too late as she pretty much already told him everything.
The conversation must have caught Secre's attention, because she walked out of the room to see what's happening "... Oh wow" that was all she could say
Then another door half-opened a bit further away only to be aggressively closed just a moment later
"If you're going to be the one peeking out my door it won't change shit!" The others could hear Magna's annoyed scream. They could just ignore it, but even more annoyed Gauche, who maybe just looked for an opportunity to bring someone down with him, got there and swung the door open.
"What the fuck?"
"Too bad, you're exposed"
"Well, you shouldn't have shouted, Magan" it turned out Luck was there with him. Unlike the rest in the corridor he seemed unbothered by the situation and walked out of the room casually.
"Well you should have gone out the window like I told you" Magna was obviously annoyed by the blonde's behavior
"If you want to question everyone then go on! You have your next victims"
Noelle inhaled aggressively "Again, you didn't even say anything, so why would they have to?"
"I have nothing to do with whatever you four are up to right now" Magna tried to defend himself.
"Then what were you doing in your room with Luck in the middle of the night?" Gauche kept going.
"Uh- Nothing?"
Luck laughed a little, "Yeah, sure, if you say so." His words were followed by silence like no other sentence uttered in the last five minutes. Magna just looked at him like he wanted to let him know that he's not helping, but Luck knew it and wanted to embarrass him.
"Ha" literally out of nowhere Zora spoke "I knew it, I would say that I told you all, but I didn't tell anyone because I don't gossip" Luck found what Zora said really funny so he burst out laughing.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Magna felt confused but also offended.
"I could tell some shit about you after the six months, don't act surprised"
"Why are you out here too?" Noelle asked. She already had enough and began to wonder why there were more people coming.
"Well, looking at the crowd here, I should be the one asking that, because unlike like you all I had a normal reason to get out of bed in the middle of the night"
"Then get back there and stay quiet about this, damn" Gauche didn't accept Zora as a part of their conversation.
"I was going to, thank you" he left.
"Why did you let him go and not us?" Magna looked at Gauche with narrowed eyes.
"I don't need his sarcastic comments and shit"
This is dumb. This is really dumb. They all could literally just give up and go their ways. But no, they are standing there arguing without an actual reason. Is that what they like to do? Start shitty fights over nothing?
Noelle actually thought about running away but she remembered the time she walked in on Mereoleona pretty much kidnapping a few other knights and it ended up in her being taken as well, so she didn't want something similar to happen there.
"What's this lovely assembly?" Everyone looked in the direction from which they heard Vanessa's voice. She was standing there leaning against the wall with a bottle of wine. She watched them for a while before she finally spoke "Shit I think I went the wrong way, my bad" She was most likely drunk trying to get to her room. Most of the time she doesn't even bother to do so, but tonight she must have a reason.
"And why did you let her go?" Magna was mad.
"Including her in the conversation wouldn't be a good idea, not when she's like that, that would be annoying"
"Everything is annoying now, let's just go"
"I think someone should take Vanessa to her room so she doesn't get lost again" Grey said as she was worried about her friend. Her secondary motive was being able to go away though. Noelle would probably volunteer to do that for the same reason but she thought Grey needed it more.
"Sure Grey, go after her" Gauche then said goodbye to her.
"So now you are just letting everyone go?" Magna had enough.
"She has a reason, what do you have to do, huh?"
"Sleep?!"
"Then you should have thought about it before you invited your friend if that's what you still call him"
"Look who's talking!" Magna's face turned red at the mention of him and Luck, but he still wanted to avoid talking about it now "Is your sister not the most important woman in your life anymore? If so, good for her" after hearing that Gauche felt offended that Magna thought he could put someone above his sister.
They proceeded to call eachother names, some of them were even made up and no one probably used them before. Secre just looked at Noelle and shook her head and suggested she should get back to her room while they were still distracted.
"What is going on here?" Nacht appeared in the middle of the ring that eventually formed
"The hell are you doing here?" Noelle feels like she heard this question a hundred times today.
"I'm the one asking questions." The vice captain doesn't mess around, he's straight to the point and won't get distracted easily "Yami told me to shut you up and fell asleep before I could protest."
"And why were you with him now?"
'We don't care, please don't make the situation potentially worse.' Noelle thought to herself.
"Oh you know, he had trouble sleeping because of you all and called me so I came as fast as I could because I'm a good friend" that was unexpected. Everyone got quiet for a moment.
"Wait, really?" Magna asked, really confused.
"No, obviously. I came back and found out he didn't do shit today and had to confront him. Then we heard the noise and I figured I might as well put you in your places" Yeah, that made more sense, everyone agreed "Now back to your rooms, this meeting is over!"
Nacht didn't leave until he was sure each squad member had gone back to their bed and was not causing trouble anymore, so he didn't stay long as no one even wanted to be there and it kept going for no reason. Actually the reason was that maybe neither Gauche nor Magna wanted to let the other one have the last word.
The funny part is that Asta slept through all of that even though it was happening right outside his door. Noelle told him she will never do something like that again with him and he didn't understand why.
But morning came and no one even cared anymore, they just moved on. Maybe a bit too late, as it would be better if they did that before Nacht had to interfere.
