Prompt: Oh, put the gun down. I’ve got good news!

...

Climbing up the wall of Matthew's apartment was far easier than it should have been. It didn't hurt his shoulder to make the climb which was a real surprise. The amount of times he had been shot was getting absolutely ridiculous.

When he reached Matthew's window he pulled himself onto the sill. A few seconds later the window was unlocked and he slipped into the dark living room. He thought he was silent in his entrance but that was obviously a lie. As soon as he turned from closing the window he found Matthew pointing a gun at his face.

Well he was feeling sneaky now wasn't he? How to go about this? Matthew either couldn't tell it was him. Or more likely he recognized it was Neal and was annoyed enough to put a bullet in him. Matt did not like unexpected visits via the window after all. Neal opened his arms wide and gave Matt his most shit eating grin.

Like an excited child Neal said, "Oh, put the gun down. I’ve got good news!"

Matt growled low in his throat, "Caffery it is two in the fucking morning. The ONLY good news I want is that you decided to retire from being buddy buddies with the FBI. Or that Beckman decided you don't need a constant babysitter. Otherwise it can wait till morning."

Neal pouted his arms lowering, "Okay first, the former isn't going to happen anytime soon. The FBI are about as likely to let me off my leash early as Mozzie is to walk into the CIA to offer his services. Secondly I'm 99% sure the General will always have someone watching me. She seems to think I attract trouble. I don't know why."

Matt gave him the most disbelieving look Neal had ever seen as he said, "No I do not believe that look of innocence for a moment. You and I both know exactly why you deserve to have someone watching over you. Don't know why my ass. Trouble follows you like a duckling!"

He couldn't help it. Neal laughed hysterically. Matt's face went red in anger and annoyance at his laughing. There wasn't any amusement in the man's face. No doubt that the early hour was effecting his mood.

Neal considered going back through the window and climbing down the window. It wouldn't be that difficult for him to do. Going down would be easier than climbing up.

Matt caught the look as he declared with narrowed eyes, "You are a damn gremlin. Specifically a window gremlin. Why didn't you come through the door like a normal person? You have a key!"

Neal grinned and said, "I learned from the best. Now can I tell you what I came here for?"

Finally the weapon lowered and he was waved over to the couch.
