In Ancient Cybertronians times, long before the birth of the human race or even when the caste system oppressed Cybertron's people, Primes were considered one of the most sacred beings to Cybertronians. 

Before, there had been Thirteen Primes— Small, yet Powerful Deities, born from their Creator, the Core of their planet— Primus, themself to battle against the Evil that was the Unmaker that was Unicron. 

In their success, they served as role models— sharing their wisdom and their strengths to guide the future of Cybertron.

Then they passed on to the Realm of The Primes, a device was used to act in their place.

Primes of the now, were their connection with their Creator, the Core of their planet— Primus—chosen by they themself to be their vassals and vessels of their power. To lead and guide all their children to thrive and prosper for eons to come.

They, the chosen Prime, were bestowed with the Matrix of Leadership— a device believed to be a peace of Primus' own Spark gifted to their eldest son, Prima; to be the jewel of his sword "The Star Saber" in his battle to defeat the Unmaker— to sanctify their rule and give them a direct link to their Deity...

...Even granting them certain powers...

No one questioned the sanctity of a Prime, for their purpose was to lead Cybertronians into a better future... 

..Things, unfortunately, changed when corruption tainted the Primes, misusing their position to gain riches and conquer other worlds for their own gain. 

Many Cybertronians parishes in fires that was the corruption of their home and government.

Witnessing the suffering of their creations, Primus took back the Matrix and for a millionnia— ended the Rule of the Primes. 

But still, the corruption lived on as the High Council lived off of the chaos that grew in the cities...

The Matrix wasn't seen for millennia and the Cybertronians nearly forgot about its existence.

Right up until Primus brought forth their Youngest and Purest Prime to correct the wrongs of their creations. 

The Thirteenth Prime was reborn and a wildborn sparkling took their place. A then the wildborn sparkling grow into a young data archivist— A student of his once Brother— and learned for the corruption of his home.

Together with the teachings of The Champion of Kaon and of his beloved friends, he spoke in front of the Council, speaking passionately of peaceful change and reform that will bring about a fair and equal Cybertron for all Cybertronians and The Ancient Mech that had been his Teacher and once his own Brother in his past life recognized a Prime before his very optics.

But, misunderstandings rose and a former gladiator, one of the lowest castes, felt betrayed by a friend and thought his ideas were being overlooked for the naivety of an archivist, who was high enough in the caste system to know no oppression with a secure job and stable credit and energon income... A war started, a civil war, the likes of which their long-lived race had never known before— brother killing brother, friend turning on friend...

It spread like the Cybonetic Plague, reaching all parts of the planet; The Gladiator lead his army, The Decepticons with bravery, ferocity and fervor that made him a terror on the battlefield. The Autobots rose to oppose them, but they had no firm leadership. 

The war grew and very few had ever held a weapon before the war started and even fewer have ever uttered a command to another bot in their lives. It seemed all was lost and Cybertron grew sicker by the day, the Core growing dimmer as the war poisoned the planet...

But then, that brave little archivist set on a journey on his own— searching for a solution! 

That's how he found his way before the Core itself and spoke with Primus themself, all for the sake to his people and his home planet!

 What Primus had saw in the archivist— who was once their own metal and spark— was what they had not seen in any of his creations for a time far too long. It was in their joy and excitement, that they bestowed the "Matrix of Leadership" upon the archivist; trusting their first creation and child once more to save Cybertron once more... for the last time. 

And so, Orion Pax of Iacon transformed once more— from A Deity to a Wildborn and Archivist to a bot named "Optimus", the last of the Primes.

A Prime became a Prime once more.

The whole planet felt the shift, every bot's spark thundered in their chassis— not aware of what it truly meant....

The war raged on regardless, and a new era started from the ashes of Cybertron.

The Matrix of Leadership held many mysteries regarding its true nature, even those worthy of bear the title of Prime weren't able to uncover all its mysteries...

That was until a little Cybertronian Archivist held an audience with Primus themselves that the powers within the Matrix finally reviewed itself to the mortal realm....

In the form of voices in the Primes head.
