Apocalyptic Snippets

Summary:

A collection of the drabbles/chapters to do with my various Fallout characters that don't fit anywhere else (i.e., not directly part of their respective written stories), but I still want to post them because I like them. Enjoy!

Notes:

This takes place some time after my wip fic in which Daisy and several companions storm the Fort to rescue Benny; hence the mentioned bandages/injuries.

Chapter 1: Codac R9000

Benny blinked, the corners of his eyes crinkling with a bemused smile. The camera shook, the square of its viewfinder framing his face. Warm brown eyes, tan skin flushed from the desert heat and lightly freckled from years in the sun. A scar carved through his lip, red, raw. His eyes were still smudged yellow around the edges, tinges of bruises yet to fully fade. His eyes were still tired, gaunt in his face and flickering with exhaustion that would never fade. His eyes were still beautiful.

His legs laid straight out in front of him, one crossed over the other. Light brown pants fit crookedly, wider around the knees where thick bandages were still wrapped underneath. He shifted under the gaze of the camera, uncrossing his legs and using the toe of one of his shoes to scuff a bit of dirt off the other. Crutches were laid to the side, in easy reach of his bandaged hands. Warm wood, hand-carved and seeming to glow amber in the afternoon sun.

A shuffle, a bout of laughter, teasing as the camera swapped hands, brought to a bruised eye and aimed at Daisy. Short dark hair in her face, brushed out of the way with a tattooed hand. Her smile revealed, the gap between her teeth plainly visible. Red on her lip smudged around the center, eyes squinted in laughter, blurry with her movement. Rocking back and forth, shifting position again and again.

"Get my good side," she joked, as if she had a bad side.

Her dress was made of flowers, colorful fabric draped over her folded legs on top of the thin blanket separating them from the scalding sand. Her hands rested in her lap, clutching at the flowers with dirt-caked fingernails. There were vines in her skin, circling her wrist in faded shades of green and yellow, pink and red. Bright flowers with petals that tried to hide scars yet to fade, leaves sprouting from the stems. Sunlight on her face, her copper skin shining. Sunlight in her hair, sunlight in her eyes, in her smile. Her cheeks were red.
