Work Text:

Kakyoin buttoned up his white long-sleeved shirt. Today, him and Jotaro were going to go on their first date.

For his outfit, he went with something simple, a nice white button up and dark green pants.

And he was just the tiniest bit nervous. What would they talk about? He hoped he wouldn't make it awkward with his complicated conversation topics.

But, for the most part, Kakyoin was absolutely delighted because he was head over heels in love with Jotaro.

He didn't know what to do. Dating? That was new territory for the both of them. A lot could go wrong. They were just two 17-year-olds in love. What if Kakyoin made a mistake?

All these thoughts were suffocating him, and so he left his room.

“Tenmei?”

Kakyoin heard his mother’s clear voice come from the kitchen.

Tenmei wasn’t his actual name of course. More like a family nickname given to him because of the similarity of the characters in Noriaki and Tenmei.

“Yes mom?” Kakyoin walked towards her voice and saw her sipping a cup of tea while leaning on a countertop.

“Are you ready for your date? No, sorry that’s not right. Are you ready for your Jotaro? Agh no that’s wrong too.” She shook her head.

Kakyoin’s brows shot up at this.

“Jotaro and I are just hanging out.” He laughed. Kakyoin’s mother drank her tea slowly. “Mmm, no you’re taking him out.” She pointed out.

He could only roll his eyes at this. His mother was a very smart woman. She worked as an executive member in a very popular industrial company. Which was horrible for him because that meant that he couldn’t hide anything from her. It was really inconvenient.

“It’s not like that…” He lied.

“Okay, sure. You’re just taking the family car for a ‘friend’, very believable Tenmei.” Her voice held no trace of hate. She was calm and collected like she had long accepted the fact that Kakyoin and Jotaro were an item. Her green eyes were sharp like a cat’s. He shivered under their gaze.

“Give it a rest mother, it’s not a date.” He was obviously trying to hide the flustered expression on his face. It wasn’t fair how his mother could practically read him like a book.

“And I’m a prima ballerina… well, okay whatever you say.” She raised her hands in defeat. “You look nice.” She smiled.

Kakyoin sighed in relief. “Good, I wasn’t sure what to wear.”

“Well, I think you made the right choice.” She set down her cup and approached Kakyoin. She grinned as she straightened down his collar.

“Such a handsome boy.” She cupped his face with a sad smile. “You’ve grown up.” She chuckled as tears welled up in her eyes.

“Mom don’t cry it’s okay.” He laughed. There was a time where they weren’t as close. When he was young. His imaginary friend wasn’t exactly accepted by his parents. It caused a horrible rift between them.

But after DIO.

After DIO.

After he.

After his hospital stay. His mother had started to rely more on him. Maybe she didn’t really know the truth about Hierophant Green, but at least she listened to him. It was a sweet gesture.

“I should head out now, it’s about time I left.” He broke free from his mother’s hands.

“Be careful out there Noriaki.” She spoke with a serious tone. Every since. That. She’s been so much more cautious with what she’ll allow her son to do. Out of pure fear of what could happen to him.

“I will, bye mom.” He waved her goodbye and slipped on his shoes by the doorway.

“See you later Tenmei!” He shut the door and grabbed the keys out of his front pocket. Jotaro’s house wasn’t far, about a 4 minute drive from here.

He unlocked the car door and slid in. No backing out now.

This was it. Kakyoin had texted Jotaro to tell him he had arrived and now he was waiting in his car for Jotaro to come out. He played with his long bang as he waited. But, it wasn’t for long.

Jotaro suddenly stepped out. He was wearing a short sleeved purple shirt with a star pattern over it and black pants which was Jotaro’s signature look honestly. And of course, one of his many hats. This time it matched his outfit. A purple star and golden dolphin adorned the top. He quickly reached the car and opened the door. Sitting down in the front seat next to Kakyoin.

“Mom knows this is a date by the way. Ugh, she knows a lot, it’s kind of scary.” Jotaro winced.

Which made Kakyoin smile. He doesn’t really know why. Could it be the simple sound of his voice? Maybe.

“That’s okay, my mother suspects that as well.” Kakyoin laughed.

Jotaro sighed.

“We aren’t very good at keeping secrets huh?” Jotaro pondered out loud.

“Guess not.”

“By the way, you look really nice.” Jotaro grinned a small smile. Kakyoin melted. He was only human after all.

“You look nice too.” He agreed.

They were out of the car in the middle of nowhere. It was the perfect place to think. A field, filled with tall grass and flowers. But the most important part was the big glowing river.

“Sorry it took a while to get here, but I really wanted to take you to this place.” Kakyoin’s hair flowed in the wind.

“What is this anyway?” Jotaro questioned.

“It’s a field.”

“Haha, very funny.”

“I know.” Kakyoin looked over to Jotaro.

“You’re too tall, it makes me feel short.”

“That’s because you are short.” Jotaro teased.

“Whatever. I found this place when I was small. This river, it was my comfort place. I went here to escape from school, from my parents, from everyone really.”

“…”

“I took you here because it reminds me of you, Jotaro. The river might be big and complicated to navigate, but it’s also tranquil and beautiful. It can become dangerous when a storm rolls in. I haven’t been here in years you know? But I wanted you to see this, with me.” He confessed. It was strange to let out his feelings like this. He wasn’t used to it. And Jotaro wasn’t big on emotions so there was no way to know what he would respond with.

But then.

Jotaro grabbed Kakyoin’s hand. “You’re so corny.” He tipped his hat down, which meant that Kakyoin wasn’t able to see his face. He didn’t really have to though because he knew what he was feeling. They just knew each other well enough to see past their barriers.

“And yet you like me. Come on, I packed up some food for us and placed a blanket under a nearby tree.” He motioned towards the car and grabbed the two bento boxes from the backseats.

“You have this all planned out huh? It’s kind of impressive.” Jotaro hummed.

“Thank you, I try.”

Setting up a picnic was quite simple if you’re organized and collected. They sat down on the blanket and ate their packed food. They talked about their friends for a while before they switched conversation topics.

“I don’t want to mess this up.” Jotaro whispered. He looked sad. It was something about his eyes that made Kakyoin want to give him a hug.

“You won’t.” Kakyoin affirmed.

“That’s all I seem to do though.” Jotaro snorted out a laugh . He bit his lip and darted his eyes away from Kakyoin.

“Enough with the low self-esteem talk. You’re a good person JoJo. Even if you don’t think you are. Without you I wouldn’t be here.” Kakyoin was angry at Jotaro. He hated whenever he spoke bad about himself. He was a prince in his head, and anyone who stained that image was wrong.

“I wish I saw myself like you do.” Jotaro huffed.

“I do too.” He nodded. Kakyoin thought for a second before coming up with an idea.

“Can I tell you something?” Kakyoin muttered.

A nod.

“You’re the first person I think about when I wake up. I didn’t realize this until very recently. But it’s true. When I wake up I think about texting you, or about how much I want you to be here with me. Isn’t it all so silly?” Kakyoin giggled.

“I never thought that you might like me back. And then you kissed me which was unexpected. Even then I thought it might’ve been a fluke.” Kakyoin stayed quiet for a while.

“I don’t think I can afford to live a life without you.” Kakyoin admitted through glossy eyes.

Jotaro gulped.

“And you’re telling the truth?” He asked.

“I’m telling the truth.”

“That’s good cause I feel the same way. It would’ve sucked if you were lying.” Jotaro said.

“This is the part where you kiss me.”

“I know.” Jotaro replied.

“Well?” Kakyoin raised an eyebrow.

“I didn’t want to ruin the moment… I was waiting for you to give me a sign or something.”

“Okay now that’s ridiculous.” Kakyoin chuckled. And he got closer. Because he didn’t want to wait for Jotaro to get the hint. “Your hat makes you look really badass and everything but I’m going to take it off now because I can’t kiss you like this.”

Jotaro did a half smile and nodded.

And so Kakyoin reached out and took off his hat. Revealing Jotaro’s green infused eyes.

“There you are.”

Kakyoin leaned forward and pressed his lips against Jotaro’s.

And it made him so happy that this was something that he could do. That this was an option that he could choose to do. His lips moved methodically, and so did Jotaro’s who seemed to get better at kissing each time. It was probably just his imagination but still.

Kakyoin gripped Jotaro’s arm as the kiss prolonged. While Jotaro just swept his long bang away from his face with care.

They quickly broke off the kiss and stared at each other with a smile.

“I don’t want to be one of those cringy high school couples.” Kakyoin spoke first.

“Is this your way of asking me to be your boyfriend?” Jotaro groaned.

“Yes?” Kakyoin responded.

“…”

“Well… let me think about it. This is a big decision you know.” Jotaro commented.

“Oh you ass. Just say yes, I know you want to.” Kakyoin rolled his eyes.

“Hm…” Jotaro began. “Okay yes I’ll be your boyfriend.”

Kakyoin sighed a sigh of relief. “Oh my god it’s official. Fuck, Polnareff will go wild.” Kakyoin groaned.

“Don’t forget about Hol Horse, because apparently he cares about our relationship.”

“Wild.”

“Yeah.”

“Let’s just stay here for a while. I don’t want to get up.” Kakyoin yawned and laid his head on Jotaro’s shoulder.

“Sounds good to me, Noriaki.”
