“Ugh.”
Jotaro groaned into his pillow.
This was a new low for him. All he had to do was pick up the phone and call Kakyoin.
But he couldn’t seem to do that.
Polnareff had very kindly informed him that he should’ve asked out Kakyoin when they'd kissed the other day. Of course, Jotaro hadn’t done that. His brain was all mushy from the love confession and everything that had concurred in that blasted house.
What if Kakyoin didn’t want to date? That was a very possible possibility. Jotaro wasn’t scared of beating up guys who stared at him funny. So why was he so afraid to do this?
Feelings.
Ew.
Feelings are overrated. He decided.
He laid there for a while.
He doesn’t know for how long. But a sudden knock woke him up from his depressive state.
“Oh Jotaro!” The voice squealed.
Jotaro huffed.
It’s not like he hates his mother. It’s the opposite. He loves her. But she’s too nice. Too coddling. And Jotaro knows he doesn’t deserve such kindness. Why would he? He’s abrasive, violent, broken. Maybe that’s why he’s always so rude to her.
Gimme a break. He thought to himself.
“What do you want?” He said harshly. He lifted his head up from the pillow and stared at Holy’s expression.
Happy, but with a slight frown.
“Don’t be like that, it’s just mama. I came to tell you that Kakyoin-kun is here. He says he has something important to tell you?” Holy smiled.
Jotaro’s eyes grew wide at this.
“Noriaki- I mean Kakyoin’s here?” He exclaimed.
Holy chuckled.
“Aw, you sound so excited. But yes, should I let him in?” Holy questioned with a slight smirk.
It kind of scared Jotaro how devilish she looked.
“Yes, I need to talk to him too.” Jotaro nodded.
“Kay~” She hummed as she left his room. He sat up in his bed. Kakyoin had impeccable timing. Was he here to talk about the same thing that Jotaro had such anxiety over? Jotaro’s heart sped up at the thought. He bit his lip in impatience.
Where is he?
Probably talking to his mom. She does know how to strike up a conversation. And Kakyoin is too nice to refuse.
Kakyoin.
Jotaro smiled.
He slid down his hat as a reflex. Even though no one was around. He took off his hat and placed it on his nightstand. He ran his hand over his dark curls in frustration.
“Hey.”
Suddenly a voice.
Suddenly him.
Suddenly Kakyoin.
Turquoise eyes met purple.
Jotaro and Kakyoin locked eyes with each other.
“Hi.”
Kakyoin was leaning one hand against Jotaro’s door. And he looked gorgeous. He wasn’t wearing anything special other than a black turtleneck and khaki pants, but Kakyoin didn’t need much to look beautiful.
Jotaro’s heart skipped a beat.
Red hair and pale skin approached him. And Kakyoin sat right besides Jotaro.
Why were they always having these conversations in their bedrooms? It was getting old.
“You’re here.” Jotaro stated.
“I’m here.” Kakyoin responded.
He just stared into Kakyoin’s eyes. Because that’s what he needed in that moment. He needed to stare into deep violet and drown in its infinite beauty.
Jotaro then felt a hand intertwining with his own. He glanced down to see both of their hands joined together.
“I wanted to see you.” Kakyoin whispered. There was something in his eyes that made Jotaro melt. Just melt.
“Why? I mean why are you here?” Jotaro longed for an answer, and he couldn’t wait for the subject to simply come up. He needed to know. And he needed to know now.
Kakyoin blinked. His hand slid out of Jotaro’s.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m here to ask you out on a date.” He said in an oddly nonchalant voice.
It was Jotaro’s turn to blink now.
His eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Well aren’t you blunt? I might say no you know.” Jotaro said in a serious tone. Even if he was secretly dying on the inside.
“Why would you say no? You like me. And you’ve kissed me three times now, so I figure that you must want to go on a date with me.” Kakyoin shrugged.
“…That’s not the point. I mean, where’s the romance? I do not feel properly wooed right now.” Jotaro crossed his arms to make his point.
Kakyoin chuckled.
“Jotaro Kujo wants to be wooed? Hmm.” Kakyoin moved closer until they were shoulder to shoulder.
“Didn’t peg you as a romantic type. So, what, should I have bought a bouquet and serenaded you like in those western movies?” He laughed.
“Sure, why not?” Jotaro grinned.
“Well, sorry there’s no big gesture to offer. Just me.” Kakyoin’s eyes wandered off into the distance as he spoke.
“That’s okay, I like you.” Jotaro commented.
“Yeah. I’m really lucky huh?” He replied.
A beat.
“Jotaro?”
“Hm?”
Kakyoin pressed a hand against Jotaro’s chest.
“Look at me.” Kakyoin mumbled.
And Jotaro looked. At the boy who held his heart in his palms. His best friend.
Kakyoin smiled.
“Good. Close your eyes now.” Kakyoin continued.
Jotaro’s body moved on his own, and soon his eyelids shut themselves closed.
“Okay, keep them closed.” He added.
Cold hands enveloped his face. Tracing his cheeks, his jaw, his chin, before slowly moving up. Kakyoin’s long fingers traced over his closed eyes, his big eyebrows, his forehead, until they felt over his sharp nose with delicacy.
Then, Kakyoin made his way down to his mouth. Kakyoin trailed over his top lip carefully and examined his bottom lip with precision.
When he was done exploring the complexity of Jotaro’s face, his face leaned ever so slightly. Their lips almost touching.
“Don’t open your eyes yet.” Kakyoin ordered. Jotaro listened and nodded.
Kakyoin finally let their lips touch in a loving kiss.
It didn’t matter that Jotaro had only kissed him days prior to this. Because kissing Kakyoin was a heavenly blessing. It was new and exciting.
Jotaro let his hands rest on Kakyoin’s waist because it seemed to work the last time. And because he loved doing it.
Kakyoin’s hands remained on Jotaro’s face as the kiss continued. They kissed each other like they were something worth protecting. Something that could be shattered at any moment.
And Jotaro could do gentle. He could be soft with Kakyoin.
So he let his lips do the talking for now and allowed himself to be happy. He allowed himself to kiss Kakyoin and forget who he was for the moment.
Kakyoin pulled away, but Jotaro kept his eyes closed.
“Ah, you know you look really handsome when you actually relax right?” Kakyoin smiled.
Jotaro could physically feel his ears heating up at the attention.
“Open your eyes now.” Kakyoin said.
Jotaro’s vision was a bit blurry when his eyes fluttered open, but he could only smile when he saw Kakyoin.
“So, you wanna go out or did I do all of that for nothing?” Kakyoin spoke.
Jotaro choked.
“Oh you bastard. Stealing kisses? That’s beyond childish.” Jotaro grunted.
“Is that a no?”
“…”
“…?”
“Okay fine yes I’ll go on a date with you!” Jotaro sighed. It was his eventual goal anyways but joking with Kakyoin is always fun.
Kakyoin yelped.
“Was that so hard now? I’ll pick you up tomorrow at 5 PM yes?” Kakyoin explained.
“Yes…”
“Great!”
“This feels like a trap.” Jotaro muttered.
“It’s not a trap. Polnareff kind of blew up my phone saying that I had to ask you out on a date or else he’d cut off my hair. It was terrifying.” Kakyoin shuddered.
Jotaro sighed loudly.
“Fucking Polnareff, wait, please don’t tell me the only reason you did that is because of him.”
“Of course not. I wanted to ask you out, but Polnareff did encourage me.” Kakyoin stated.
“Okay because I do not want to credit him with anything to do with us.” Jotaro huffed.
Kakyoin giggled.
“Well. Okay I have to go, but let’s go on this one date and then let’s see what happens yeah?” Kakyoin questioned.
“Yeah.” Jotaro nodded.
Kakyoin stood up.
“Good.” He leaned down and kissed Jotaro’s temple.
“Text you later. Bye JoJo.”
“Goodbye Kakyoin.”
And he walked off. With a sweet smile, but he left.
Jotaro had to admit, he was excited for that date.
Holy entered his room, maybe two minutes after the redhead’s departure.
“What a nice boy huh? I like him.” She pondered as she set down a light snack for Jotaro to eat.
Jotaro agreed.
“I like him too.” He replied.
“Oh sweetie. I know.”
And she left as well.
Huh.
I didn’t think I was that obvious.
