Calling You Home

Summary:

Nat heaved herself over the cliff edge. It had been a hell of a climb, but still preferable to the drop.

Notes:

For flipflop_diva and MalevolentLighthouse - this was a treat for the Summer 2023 round of Seasons of Drabbles that I wrote with the both of you in mind (since your requests/likes overlapped) but I didn't realise there was a rule about gifting to multiple people (oops!) so I'm posting this outside of the collection at the mod's request. I didn't think it was fair for you to not get your treat just because of a rule I didn't know about and I hope you don't mind sharing this little gift :)

Work Text:

“Why am I always cleaning up after you boys?”

Nat smiled at her own remark, heaving herself over the cliff edge. It had been a hell of a climb, but still preferable to the drop.

“I’m sorry.” Steve helped her onto her feet, holding on even after. “When I brought back the stone, I didn’t realise-”

“Doesn’t matter.” She shook her head, taking a moment, basking in the gift of rebirth and his presence. “So, we won?”

“We won. You get to go home.”

Steve.

Home.

She wondered if he knew that, to her, they were one and the same.
