Chapter Text
"Why do you keep trying to save me? You think it'll make Scott forget about everything you did, and just let you into the pack? Scott's ever going to trust you" Liam hissed, his blue eyes facing the chimera.
Theo's calm demeanour only further frustrated the beta, "you might want to remember what Scott's goal has been all along" Theo said, his voice calm and contained as he tapped Liam's arm "keep people alive"
Before Liam had the chance to reply Gabe's annoying voice spoke up, "you might want to try harder" he said from his place on the floor. Blood still dropping from his face from where Liam had smashed his head into the mirror.
Liam turned to face him, "what are you talking about?" He asked, his brows furrowing together as he did. Theo took a step forward as they awaited Gabe's answer. When it didn't come Theo turned to Liam, noticing the beta's anger rising.
His heartbeat was a clear indication that his patience was being cut short. Theo let out a small growl before launching forward. Grabbing Gabe and hoisting him up, using his hand to smash Gabe's face back against the mirror.
Only adding further pain to Gabe's injury, "about the other bodies!" Gabe let out, Liam took a step closer "what other bodies?" He asked, only then did Theo turn to face him. "I- I can show you!" Gabe said.
His head pounding as Theo kept it pressed against the mirror, "Theo" Liam said softly, breaking the chimera from his murderous thoughts. Yes he had changed, but that didn't stop him from wanting to go back to his old ways.
It was easier, a lot easier. He could handle being hated and disliked, but not by Liam. He knew if he went back to those ways Liam would hate him, he had come too far for the beta to hate him.
He had saved him countless times, he would continue to do so. He couldn't let Liam down, he wouldn't. He gave him this chance, he wasn't about to blow it. Not at the expense of hurting the one he loved the most.
Love, that was a foreign word for Theo. It was not something that came easy for the chimera, but for Liam. He made it easy, he made love seem so natural. So right? Theo would look at him and everything made sense.
One look, that was all it took for his worries to melt away. Those big blue eyes meeting his forest green ones spoke volumes, they didn't need words to communicate. Not after everything they had been through together...
Everything they had been through... the ghost riders alone had forced them to become closer. Never did Liam think he would be able to trust the chimera again, but he did. He really did trust him, with everything.
Theo saved his life not once, not twice but three times. Pushing the ghost rider out of the way, throwing him into an elevator and stabbing another ghost rider. Three times and that was only from the ghost rider situation, he trusted Theo.
With his life.
But he couldn't let it escalate any further. Theo was still the only an ally, he was still not forgiven by the pack for what he did. For killing Scott... Liam's alpha. Liam's best friend and his mentor, Theo killed him.
Maybe it was easier for Liam to forgive him given the circumstances. Liam had done most of the work, Liam had weakened Scott, Liam had beaten him up and left him for dead. Liam couldn't forgive himself for that, it still haunted him.
The super moon was something he would never forget. The way he acted disgusted him, the fact that he let Theo's words send him over the edge. The anger he felt, losing Hayden it was all too much for him. He was only sixteen when it all happened, no kid should have to experience that.
He had snapped and lost control, he knew that. He was the only one to blame, he couldn't blame Theo. He couldn't even blame the super moon, it was just him. He was a mess, the Anukate was causing his anger to go into overdrive.
Theo had told him it's fear. His fear turns into anger and that's why he loses control. Cause of the overwhelming fear he feels due to the Anukitae it causes him to revert to anger. An emotion he knew all too well.
"Liam.." Theo said, the blue eyed beta turned to face him. "Get up" Liam said looking down to Gabe who was still on edge, standing up Liam stood close "where are the other bodies" Liam demanded.
Theo liked this. He liked seeing this side of Liam, the side that took control. The leader in Liam that would take over when Scott leaves, the alpha in Liam. Theo knew he would be the perfect Alpha, he would take care of his pack and Beacon Hills.
"I can show you" Gabe said grasping his forehead, blood still dripping from it. Liam squinted but ushered him to lead the way "show us then" Liam said, his patience with Gabe was wearing thin, considering he beat the shit out of Liam less than a month ago didn't help.
Theo walked behind the pair as they followed Gabe through the halls of the school. Reaching a door Gabe turned to them "they're in the basement" he said making Liam frown "how many are there?" He asked as Gabe twisted the handle.
"A lot..." Gabe admitted, opening the door and leasing the pair towards a freezer. Liam raised a brow "you're kidding me right?" He asked before turning to Theo. "Open it" Theo said.
With shaky hands Gabe pried open the freezer, revealing 4 bodies inside of it. Their faces almost unrecognisable, black circles where their eyes once were and blood dripping down their faces. Their body's contorted in weird positions to fit into the freezer.
It was unsettling to say the least.
"Does the teacher know about this?" Theo asked eyeing the bodies. Gabe pointed at one of them "That's the teacher" he stated. Liam sighed "Unless there's a gun in there, too, this isn't helping us find the shooter"
Theo was more concerned about why Gabe knew about these bodies, "Why'd you hide these bodies?" Gabe winced at his words, "We didn't wanna get caught..." he admitted. That pushed Liam to speak ""caught doing what?" He asked.
Gabe looked oblivious, "testing them... To see if they were Werewolves. And they were?" He said as if it should have been obvious. Liam scoffed "Just like you tested Corey?" He asked crossing his arms.
"But we didn't kill them. Look at their faces-- something else did that..." Gabe defended, that was when Theo realised what it was, "the Aunkite..." he said "the what?" Gabe asked confused and slightly frightened.
"Why would it want to kill anyone? It feeds off fear. Dead people aren't afraid?" Liam said still confused. "Maybe the killing is just a by-product..." Theo said.
"Of what?" Liam asked, "Of it looking for its other half" Theo replied.
Liam's eyes widened, "Which means it's looking for a supernatural creature. Someone like us..." the beta said. "So these three could have been Werewolves, just not the one that the Anuk-ite was looking for...." Theo stated, before turning to Gabe "Which means you've been helping it. Idiot.."
Gabe took a step back, "don't even know what you guys are talking about. I was just helping Aaron. It was his idea to test everyone..." he protested. Theo frowned "Who's Aaron?" He asked. Liam raised a brow, "He's on the lacrosse team. He's just a freshman.."
That was when it clicked in Liam's head, "Aaron didn't want to find more of us. He wanted to find his other half..." he said before turning to face Theo, his blue eyes full of worry and concern. Theo looked down "He's the Anukite" he said.
