That's Not My Name

Summary:

“Hey, Kat, are you listening?”

Usually, a rebuttal would fly out of Katsuki’s mouth, but he was hit by the truck that was the word, Kat. He went stiff and felt himself blush. Kirishima stopped walking and turned to him.

“What? Is it the name? I can stop calling you that if it makes you u–”

Katsuki shook his head and held Kirishima’s hand tighter. “Shut the fuck up.”

OR: Kirishma tries out a bunch of pet names, hoping that one sticks. Just a ton of fluff basically.

Notes:

Been writing a lot of angst lately, so I thought I'd break it up with some undiluted fluff :)

Work Text:

It was too early in the morning for Kirishima to be as excited as he was. He was rambling about his workout routine, and Katsuki was listening. He used to ignore it. He couldn’t remember when he actually started to listen. They walked side by side to class in the cool March air. Katsuki tried to soak it in, knowing it was their last month at UA. As they walked, Eijirou’s hand brushed his. Katsuki fought the urge to either grab his hand or smack it away. He couldn’t decide. Eijirou didn’t fight it. He reached out and grabbed Katsuki’s hand.

“Hey, Kat, are you listening?”

Usually, a rebuttal would fly out of Katsuki’s mouth, but he was hit by the truck, that was the word, Kat . He went stiff and felt himself blush. Kirishima stopped walking and turned to him.

“What? Is it the name? I can stop calling you that if it makes you u–”

Katsuki shook his head and held Kirishima’s hand tighter. “Shut the fuck up.”

Eijirou smiled wide enough for Katsuki to see the points of his teeth. “Oh…” Kirishima’s eyes narrowed just a bit. “You like it.”

Katsuki put his face in his free hand, hoping to hide his blush. Kirishima reached up and pulled the hand away. Katsuki avoided his eyes. “Tch, you’re so embarrassing.”

Kirishima placed a hand on Katsuki’s face to get him to look back at him. He shrugged. “When has that ever stopped me, Kat?”

Somehow Katsuki got more red. He started to walk, pulling Kirishima after him. “You’re the worst, Shitty Hair.”

Katsuki woke up to the feeling of someone pushing against his shoulders. He fought it, keeping his eyes closed as he groaned in protest. Then his ears kicked in. “Wake up. C’mon, Kat, wake up.” He could recognize that voice in any universe.

“Ugh, what, Kiri?” He cracked his eyes open and saw his boyfriend hovering above him. He put a hand up against Kirishima’s cheek and tried to push him away.

Eijirou laughed and pressed his face further into Katsuki’s hand. Katsuki froze for a second and was amazed that someone wasn’t pulling away from his hand out of fear. Katsuki let his hand relax. He brushed his thumb against Eijirou’s skin. This seemed to make the man blush. “G’morning, Angel.” Katsuki looked into Kirishima’s eyes, and a second later, he barked out a laugh. Eijirou broke down into giggles and collapsed against Katsuki’s chest. “What? You don’t like the nickname?” Eijirou asked before laughing again.

Katsuki shook his head. “It was stupid, and you know it, Shitty Hair.”

Kirishima leaned over him again. “What happened to calling me Kiri?”

Katsuki rolled his eyes. “The privilege is revoked any time you call me something fucking stupid like angel .”

Kirishima smiled at him. “What makes it stupid?” He looked into Katsuki’s eyes with such an intense look that Katsuki froze. “You’ve always been pretty, Katsuki. Pretty as an angel. Especially when you’re in my bed.”

Katsuki threw an arm over his face. “God damn it, where the hell did you learn to talk like that?”

Kirishima only laughed in response. “Fine, I won’t use the name again. I’ll find something eventually.”

Katsuki frowned. “Don’t kill yourself trying…” He delivered the sentence in a flat tone.

“Are you saying you don’t believe I can find a good nickname for my boyfriend?” Kirishima feigned offense.

Katsuki raised his eyebrows. “I’m saying that I’d like to see you try.”

Kirishima watched Bakugou as he stood in front of the stove, stirring noodles in a pot. In all honesty, Eijirou was bored. It was late at night, and he wanted to spend time with his boyfriend. He’d knocked on Bakugou’s door and asked him to make ramen. Even though he’d rolled his eyes, Katsuki was now cooking it for him without a single complaint. Eijirou walked closer to him so he could hover next to Katsuki.

He put a hand on Bakugou’s waist and hummed to himself when the man leaned into the touch. Eijirou took that as an invitation to wrap his arms fully around Katsuki’s waist to pull him against his chest. “Hey, baby.” Eijirou’s voice was soft and content.

Katsuki let his weight relax against Eijirou. “I’m baby now?”

Eijirou placed a kiss on the nape of Bakugou’s neck. “Do you not like it?”

Katsuki huffed, which made Eijirou smile against his skin. “I didn’t say that.”

Kirishima shrugged. Katsuki felt it against his back. “If you don’t like it, I guess I won’t use it again…”

Katsuki turned around. He had a scowl on his face. “I don’t hate it.”

“Yeah, but if you don’t like it, I won’t use it.” Eijirou knew he was playing with fire by saying that.

“Ugh… fuck me,” Katsuki grumbled under his breath.

Eijirou wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity. “Maybe later.”

Katsuki blushed red and let his head rest on Kirishima’s shoulder. “I hate you.”

Kirishima put a hand on Katsuki's back to hold him closer. “You shouldn’t lie, baby.”

Katsuki shook his head and then spoke at light speed. “Fine, whatever you can call me baby.”

Since Eijirou wanted to be even more annoying, he responded. “Sorry, what was that? I couldn’t hear you.”

“I’m not repeating that shit again, I know you heard me.”

A laugh bubbled up out of Eijirou. “All right, I’ll stop.” They went back to standing in front of the ramen. Eijirou leaned in to give Katsuki a kiss on the cheek. “I love you, baby.”

For a split second, Kirishima thought he saw Katsuki smile. “... Love you too, idiot.”

Katsuki found himself talking to Izuku in the hallway outside of their classroom after class. “I already bought the damn tickets, so you better be ready to go at six tonight,” Katsuki said.

Izuku nodded, his eyes wide with excitement. “Of course I will be, Kacchan. This is supposed to be the best All Might movie they’ve ever made! And with how much time it’ll take for us to get snacks and wait in line, and with the previews, I think that we’ll be early enough to get in. I wonder if they’ll have the candy I like…”

Katsuki rolled his eyes. “If they don't, you left a bag of that shit in my room. Stupid fuckin’ sweet tooth.”

Izuku beamed. “Thanks, Kacchan! It’s not my fault that you have no taste for sweet things.” By the time he finished talking, he was pouting.

Suddenly the rest of their class poured into the hallway, and their conversation was instantly hijacked by almost five people. Katsuki tensed up. Even though he’d known everyone in their class for nearly three years, there were still times when they were too much for Katsuki. Not a second after he tensed, a hand wrapped around his waist. “Hey, princess.” Eijirou’s voice spoke quietly and close to his ear.

Suddenly Katsuki was tense again but for a whole different reason. He was certain that no one else had heard it, but he suddenly felt watched. “Kacchan, are you alright?” Izuku spoke up, directing everyone’s attention to Katsuki.

He coughed and shook his head. “I’m fucking fine, nerd.” With his dismissal, he lost the eyes of most of the people in the circle, and he elbowed Kirishima.

“Ow…” Kirishima said, his voice lacking any distinctions of real pain.

Katsuki took his hand and started walking away with him. He looked behind him to check if everyone was out of earshot. “What the hell? Princess?”

Kirishima hummed before his lips split into a smile. “Huh, I thought you liked that one…”

Katsuki spun to look at Eijirou. He walked towards him until Eijirou’s back hit the wall. He leaned in closer to Kirishima’s face. “I didn’t hate princess, but if you’re going to call me some stupid shit like that, at least call me king ,” Katsuki said with a half smile on his lips. He watched Eijirou blush bright red and didn’t hesitate to walk away. “C’mon Ei, you said we were gonna spar today.”

Eijirou caught up with an awed smile on his face. He bumped into Katsuki. “Yes, king. ”

Katsuki’s hands dripped red onto the bathroom floor. He let his stare linger on his stained hands. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” He said to himself, watching the red run down his palms. “This is making a fucking mess.”

“You asked if I wanted help, remember?” Kirishima pestered him from his perch on the bathroom counter. His hair was half blond and half red, and his neck was blotchy, where Katsuki had missed his hair completely.

Katsuki scoffed. “Doesn’t mean I didn’t reserve my right to complain.” He quipped as he continued to push his fingers through Kirishima’s hair. “I’m almost done with this half.” Kirishima watched his actions through the mirror, letting his eyes slip up to Katsuki every once in a while. He wasn’t ashamed to admit that he got a kick out of watching Katsuki’s eyes narrow with concentration as he pulled more dye into Kirishima’s hair. Then Kirishima saw himself perk up in the mirror.

“Woah!” The almost red-head exclaimed as his hands moved in front of his face to cover the red half of his head. “We kinda look alike when my hair’s blonde.”

Katsuki’s eyebrows furrowed. He leaned down to line his face up with Kirishima’s in the mirror. He looked between them and frowned in disgust. “Please never go blonde, Shitty Hair. I don’t want people to think I’m dating my twin.”

Kirishima let out a bright laugh. “Okay, fine. I promise I won’t go blonde.” He let the smile fall from his lips then lighthearted betrayal fell over his features. “Hey, you can’t call me shitty hair; you’re the one dying it!”

Bakugou shrugged and unveiled a wicked grin. “Not my problem, Shitty Hair. It's on your head.”

Kirishima laughed and leaned towards Katsuki, careful not to get any dye on Katsuki’s clothes. “Thanks for helping me, ‘Tsuki.” Bakugou’s eyebrows rose by a fraction. Eijirou caught his reaction. “What?”

Katsuki’s eyebrows furrowed. “That’s a new one. Never heard ‘Tsuki before.” Katsuki said it like the word itself was special. Hope bubbled up in Kirishima. “Doesn’t mean it’s not stupid.”

Eijirou could hear the sarcasm in it. He knew it wasn’t serious. But he still pretended to be offended. “Ugh, you’re the worst!” Kirishima rolled his eyes. He reached behind him to give Katsuki a gentle shove.

Bakugou grinned. “You love me.” Katsuki leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Eijirou’s shoulder.

Their eyes meet in the mirror. “Of course I do, 'Tsuki,” Kirishima said, so sure that he thought his heart might explode. Katsuki’s face lit up red, or maybe he just got some of the hair dye on his face.

Later that week, Katsuki found himself stuck between Kirishima and the wall. His boyfriend barged into his room and didn’t wait for a second to push him against the wall and kiss him. Katsuki fought the split-second impulse to push Kirishima away from the surprise by pulling him closer. As soon as Eijirou pulled away for a breath, Katsuki spoke. “What the fuck?”

Eijirou smiled and leaned in to kiss Katsuki again. “I missed you.” He said between kisses. He started kissing down Katsuki’s neck. “What? Am I not allowed to kiss my boyfriend?”

Katsuki put a hand in Kirishima’s hair and pulled him closer. “I fucking hate you.”

Eijirou huffed out a laugh. Katsuki felt it against his skin and shivered. “I love you too.” Then Katsuki felt the points of Kirishima’s teeth against his neck.

“Eiji… I–”

Katsuki felt Kirishima’s voice rumble against his skin. “Yes, kitten?” Suddenly Katsuki’s grip in Kirishima’s hair was near deadly. Kirishima spoke again. “Too much?”

“Fuck…” Katsuki’s voice edged near a groan. “No, it’s– God damn it. It is, but that’s fine.”

Eijirou’s face was washed with genuine surprise. “Oh. Okay.” Then Eijirou had the audacity to let out a giggle.

“Fucking, what?” Katsuki asked, slightly frowning.

“You’re always so eloquent, Katsuki.”

Katsuki rolled his eyes. “You’re lucky I taught you that damn word… And what happened to the shitty nicknames?”

“Oh, you miss them already?” Eijirou’s voice had a filter of hope over it.

Katsuki looked away. “No… Just thought you forgot what my name even is after only calling me dumb shit like princess for the last week.”

“I’d never forget your name, Katsuki. It’s a pretty name. But if you get to call me Shitty Hair, I think I get to call you kitten every once in a while.”

Katsuki made a fist and pushed it against Eijirou’s chest. “Fine…”

“And you could start calling me Eijirou more often.”

Katsuki shook his head. “Don’t push your luck, Ei.”
