Work Text:
When Chuuya opened his eyes, all he could see was white.
For a second he thought he was dead, somehow stuck in a heaven he was never meant to see. Perhaps he had overused corruption and finally kicked the bucket.
Then his eyes focused on what- or rather, who, was in front of him. Before him, Dazai Osamu, his partner, his other half - laid slumped over against the wall, blood staining his clothing.
Chuuya stepped forwards, confused. “Dazai? What’s going on? What kind of prank are you pulling?”
Dazai didn’t answer.
“Oi, Dazai. Say something.”
Dazai remained unmoving, hair curtaining his face.
“Are... you alright?”
Slowly, hesitatingly, Chuuya knelt before his partner. With a gloved hand, he gently swept aside Dazai’s brown locks, revealing Chuuya’s greatest nightmare.
His partner stared back at him, brown gaze void of life and light. A bullet had gone straight through Dazai’s skull: he had gotten his wish. He was finally dead.
Distantly, Chuuya felt the hallway shake. For a brief moment, he mistook it for an earthquake, but then realised it was his ability.
As the walls began to split apart under the crushing weight of gravity, he wondered: How did this happen? Who got the upper hand on his unfathomable, unbearable partner? Apart from Dazai, there was no one else in the corridor. It was only the two of them.
A sudden thought struck Chuuya. No. No way. Please, no.
Did he-
He looked down.
Gripped tightly in his right hand was a gun, it’s nozzle stained with blood.
His mind began to fill with white noise. Did Chuuya lose control again? Was Dazai not enough to stop him this time? Did his corrupted self look his partner in the eyes, unaware of their relationship, and murder him in cold blood? Did he make Dazai suffer before his death?
Whatever the details were, the outcome could not be changed. Chuuya was the cause of Dazai's death. And Dazai won’t be waking up this time.
Ah.
So this is hell.
