Summary:

"Can I help you find something?"

The voice in your ear makes you jump. You nearly drop the book in your hand as you spin around, ready to chew out the person that just startled you, but the words dry up on your tongue. You're left open mouthed, looking up into the most startling green eyes you've ever seen.

"Can I help you find something?"

The voice in your ear makes you jump. You nearly drop the book in your hand as you spin around, ready to chew out the person that just startled you, but the words dry up on your tongue. You're left open mouthed, looking up into the most startling green eyes you've ever seen.

"My apologies. I didn't mean to startle you." The owner of the green eyes says, "You looked a bit lost and I wanted to see if I could help."

"Ah." You will your brain to start working again. You try to look away from his eyes but everything else is just as amazing. Wonderful cheekbones, straight nose, kissable lips and a jawline you want to nibble on. You can feel your face turning pink as you stumble over your tongue, "Ya.... yes, thank you ah...."

Green Eyes smiles at your embarrassment, the cutest crinkles forming in the corners of his eyes.

"I'm in a kinda informal book club with some friends of mine." You pause to clear your throat and look away from those cute eye crinkles, "We pick a theme or genre and read a book from it. Then when we get together once a month we share what we read."

"Sounds like fun." Green Eyes nods his head before glancing at the book in your hand, "James Harrot's Dog Stories?"

You can't help but grin, "It's a gift for a friend. She keeps borrowing my copy. Our theme this time is.... vampires." You wait for Green Eyes to roll his beautiful eyes or make a snarky comment about how women obsess over vampires but he just nods his head.

"I take it you want something other then the obvious." He says, turning away and heading towards the other side of the small book shop. You follow behind as he makes his way down the aisle, trying and failing to keep your eyes off his backside. It was a very nice backside.

"Not Dracula or Anne Rice." Green Eyes mumbles to himself, "Everyone does Twilight, so how about..." He reaches out and plucks a book from the shelf, "This one."

You take the book and look at the cover, "Red Death?"

Green Eyes nods, "Yes. It's the first novel in the Jonathan Barrett, Gentleman Vampire series. It takes place before and during the American Revolution so it also appeals to history lovers."

You flip it over and read the back, "It’s 1773 and 17-year old Jonathan Barrett is eager to leave for college in Boston—and lose his virginity—perhaps not in that order." You can't help but giggle and Green Eyes flashes a cheeky grin. You look up at him and grin back, "Sounds interesting. I'll take it."

"Excellent. Can I help you with anything else?" He asks, all professional.

"No, this is all." You reply, admiring his long, midnight black hair and wondering if it's as soft as it looks.

Green Eyes leads you to the register at the front of the store and rings you up. As he bags your purchase and hands it to you, his fingers brush yours sending little tingles through your hand.

Blushing again, you clutch your purchase to your chest, "Thank you...."

"Loki." Green Eyes supplies, his smile becoming decidedly flirty and his gaze turning heated, "And it was a.... pleasure.... serving you today."

You can feel your cheeks burning and that makes Green Eyes.... er, Loki grin even more.

"Back already?"

That velvety voice makes your body tingle as you turn around. You smile up at your favorite book store worker, holding up the novel in your hand, "Came back for number two."

"Death and the Maiden." Loki nods at your choice, "I take it you enjoyed the first one then."

"Very much." You can feel your face turning red as those amazing eyes look at you like he wants to devour you whole. The feeling is mutual as you bite your lip, imagining what his lips must taste like. "I really like this shop. I think I'm.... gonna be back.... often."

The amount of heat smoldering in his eyes is enough to start a fire and you've never wanted to be burned more in your life.

"Wonderful." Loki rumbles softly, "I look forward to you becoming a regular customer."
