Work Text:
Miles was having a perfectly normal day. He had woke up in his room at home, as he usually did at the weekend, he had drawn all morning, again nothing unusual about that, and now he was meeting Hobie at the park on the bench where the two of them often hung out. Nothing about his day so far has been in anyway, shape or form stress inducing but there was no denying the sense of dread pooling in the bottom of his stomach. Oh god not here not in front of Hobie he thought to himself as his surroundings became a blur of noise and light and movement he barely even noticed his fingers digging into the skin on his arm.
"Hey Miles" Hobie greeted him dropping down onto the bench and stretching his arms languidly behind his head.
"Hey" Miles forced himself to say with a grimace trying to hide the waves of fear he felt crashing over his body.
"Are you alright?" Asked Hobie concerned.
Shit, shit, shit. Miles thought, he can't know. "I'm fine" he said balling his hands into fists to stop them shaking Hobie took one of his hands and held it Miles could feel himself drifting away from reality he felt as though he were floating above his body looking down on it his ears were ringing and his breathing was becoming more and more laboured.
"Miles love I can tell your not alright you don't have to tell me about it or say anything just breathe with me okay" Hobie said taking exaggerated deep breaths and squeezing Miles hand. Miles did his best to make his own shaky breathing match Hobies,
"That's it love just breathe in" he took a deep breathe in. "And out" and so it went on Hobie providing reassurance and helping Mile take deep breaths and Miles slowly felt his panic subsiding making way for another emotion, shame.
"I'm sorry this is so stupid" Miles said feeling his heart rate increase again and furiously blinking back tears.
"You've done nothing wrong love" Hobie told Miles wrapping him in a hug Miles leaned into Hobie still trying to keep his breathing even, he felt a little better now but he was tired. Hobie lay back against the armrest of the bench so he and Miles were both laying down together Hobie didn't try and get Miles to talk they just lay down together wrapped in each others arms. Hobie murmured nonsense to Miles about the birds, capitalism, the clouds and the colour of the sky as the sun started to set every so often Miles felt a spike of adrenaline like an aftershock his breathing quickened and he dug his fingers into Hobies leather jacket.
Eventually Hobie asked him "do you wanna tell me what that was about"
And Miles replied "I will... Eventually" Miles snuggled into Hobies jacket "how about you will you tell me about what's going on in your dimension?" Miles asked Hobie.
"Eventually" Hobie replied. Nothing more needed to be said.
