Chapter Text

The day was gloomy and rainy in Seattle. The weather in this city was really different from the heat and sunshine of Los Angeles and Maya missed it.
Maya Bishop had always dreamed of becoming a police chief and when the opportunity arose she accepted the offer in Seattle without hesitation. What no one knew was that Maya took the job also to escape a trauma.
It's her first day on the job in Seattle and Maya is determined that nothing will ruin her day.

- Good morning, Chief Bishop. Welcome to Seattle. I'm your Chief Operating Officer, Lucas Ripley.
- Nice to meet you, Chief Ripley - the blonde replied with a sweet smile and extended her hand.

The two headed for the meeting room and as soon as they entered the door Ripley began speaking in an authoritative tone to the police officers already there.
- Attention! Meet our new chief of police, Maya Bishop. I believe her work will bring much value to Seattle and I expect all of you to show the proper respect. It's not every day that you get to meet the first female police chief in the city, and the youngest, too.

All the police officers greeted their new boss and prepared for their shifts.

- Chief Bishop - called Ripley - This is Assistant Chief Ryan Tanner, he will accompany you during your shift and show you around the city and also the station.

Tanner smiled and extended his hand to greet Maya. He was a little upset and sad that he wasn't mentioned for the job, but Bishop is now his boss and he has to respect that.

- Thank you so much for your help, Assistant Chief Tanner. Let's go? - Maya asked anxiously.

The two of them hurried to the patrol car and began their lookout for the city while Tanner explained the surroundings. Little did he know that Maya had already studied the map of the city millimetre by millimetre.

- Tanner, thank you very much for the explanation. Now I can put the real images of the city on the map - said the blonde with a mischievous smile.
- You already knew everything? Why didn't you say anything?
- You were so focused and enthusiastic. Come on, I'll buy you lunch. - Bishop said as he punched Tanner in the arm.

They chose a very cozy little café for lunch. Tanner had a steak with french fries while Maya had grilled chicken with rice and vegetables.

It was being a quiet lunch until two men in animal masks came in shouting: "This is a robbery!"

Tanner and Bishop immediately raised their pistols and the shooting began.
As Tanner fired, Maya helped people run and hide.
Maya quickly joined Ryan in the fight and they eventually captured the robbers.
After a team of police officers arrived on the scene and the adrenaline wore off, Maya began to see cloudy and get dizzy.

- Bishop, are you okay? Wow, wow, sit down - said Ryan.

Suddenly, Ryan, upon securing Maya, felt the chief's right arm get wet and saw her sweater turn dark.

- Chief Bishop, we have to go to the hospital right away - Ryan shouted.

Quickly the two of them were entering Grey-Sloan's emergency room as Tanner screamed for help.
Doctors soon responded until Ryan saw the person he was looking for.

- Maya, you're going to be okay, okay? And you're also going to be accompanied by one of the people I trust with my life.
Please help my boss, Carina.

Chapter Text

Maya slowly opened her eyes. She felt very dizzy and nauseous.
She looked around confusedly, but when she saw Tanner next to her sitting in an armchair asleep, she remembered what had happened.
She sighed deeply and tried to stay calm. "It was a great first day at work, Bishop" - thought wryly, trying to control her anger.

- Glad to see you're awake!

Maya looked quickly in the direction of the voice. It was a sweet, charming voice with an accent.
"What a sight!" - thought the Chief of Police.
Present in the hospital room was the most beautiful woman Bishop had ever seen. The doctor had wavy brown hair, a bright, luminous smile and her gaze penetrated the soul.

- Good morning, Mrs. Bishop. I'm Dr. Carina Deluca and I'm here to give you a blood test, is that all right?

- Ah... of course! Whatever it takes! But please you can call me Maya - nerves were taking over the policewoman's body.

- Can you call our police chief by her name now? Now that's a perk on the first day! - Ryan said jokingly as he headed towards Carina.

They both gave each other a tight and warm hug. Carina patted his cheek and he gave her a kiss on the forehead.
Maya watching the scene was confused and a little jealous. "Of course, it was too good..." - she thought negatively.

- I'm really relieved the you are ok! It was a huge scare for the very first day! Don't make a habit of it," Tanner said to Maya in a gentle tone.

Bishop relaxed a little and smiled gratefully.
- Thank you so much for not abandoning me! This wasn't in my plans, but a good story always starts with a drama or an adventure, "she joked." And your girlfriend helped a lot too, that's for sure.

Carina and Ryan looked at each other and started laughing.

- Boss, I'm going to get you a juice because you need it - and Tanner left the room laughing.

If Maya was already confused, she got more confused.

- Bella, Ryan and I are brothers. But it was a good try - smiled the doctor.

Maya's cheeks turned red and she looked down at her hands in shame.
- Oh, sorry for the mistake. But what I said was meant! You helped save me and I am very grateful!

- I only did my job, bella - replied Carina, approaching the hospital bed.

- Bella, what does it mean? You said it twice already.

- The next time I come back to your room you will find out - said the doctor with a seductive smile.

- I'll be waiting anxiously and it will be a pleasure! Even the recovery will be better - Maya quickly retorted.

They were both silent for a few seconds admiring each other's beauty until Ryan arrived.
Maya didn't know what she was feeling, but she was sure she wanted to see Carina every day.
