“Why are you not coming to Luca’s party?” Mike practically whines.
Jane lets out a small, tired sigh. “I told you; my dad won’t let me go, not after I got home at 2 am last time.”
“You know what? Your dad needs to calm the fuck down. You’re sixteen, you’re allowed to go to parties and be a bit reckless sometimes.”
“Yeah, well, he doesn’t opine the same.” Jane says as she opens her notebook to start her homework.
A couple minutes of silence later, she’s startled by Mike’s voice.
“That’s it! I’ll talk to him. I’m tired of his tyranny.” He says with finality. “Don’t close the bedroom door. Don’t go to parties, curfew… blah blah blah.” He mocks Hopper and his rules.
Jane just ignores him, until she sees him getting her phone and stops what she’s doing. “What are you doing?”
“I told you, I’ll call him.”
Jane panics a little but then remembers that Mike doesn’t know her passcode.
But then…
“Siri, call dad.”
“Calling: “daddy”.”
“Mike, no!” She jumps from the bed and tries to take the phone away from him but he pushes her hand away as the call is answered.
“Hey, cutie.” Max’s voice comes from the other side of the line.
Mike frowns, confused.
“Max?”
Jane goes pale.
A second goes by and then…
“Max, what the fuck are you doing with Hopper’s phone?!” Mike asks.
Jane gives him an incredulous look.
“What are you talking about? This is my phone.” Max answers in a bored tone.
“How can it be your number? It’— Oh… Oh!” It finally hits him.
