Work Text:
“I like you Sunghoon hyung!” A very drunk boy exclaims.
Jake, along with his other friends at the bar, watch the boy on stage confess his feelings. The microphone he’s holding makes sure everyone at the bar gets to hear his confession. Jake knows who the boy is, kind of. He’s one of Sunghoon’s juniors, and he catches them walking together often after their shared course, but Jake’s never bothered to remember his name. It’s not like Sunghoon talks a lot about the boy either.
“I said! I like you, Sunghoon hyung!!” The junior continues, cheeks flushed as he stares at where Sunghoon is sitting beside Jake. The boy’s eyes flit over at Jake for a second, and Jake swears the boy glares at him.
Sunghoon’s sitting frozen beside him, just staring at his junior. Everyone at the bar is either looking at the junior or Sunghoon, waiting for some kind of response. Jake, after a few tense seconds, takes pity on the poor junior and nudges Sunghoon.
“What?” Sunghoon turns his head to him.
“You shouldn't leave him hanging, you know.” Jake gestures to the stage.
“Oh,” Sunghoon stares at Jake, “Yeah, you’re right.” And with that Sunghoon rises from his seat, walking over to the stage.
As soon as the junior sees Sunghoon walking over he’s smiling again, meeting Sunghoon halfway. Jake sees Sunghoon bending down to say something to the boy, before Sunghoon’s leading them out of the bar.
People go back to minding their own business as soon as Sunghoon and the boy are out of sight, but Jake’s gaze remains at the door they walked out of for a few seconds. Jake can’t help the way he almost slumps forward onto the bar, a heavy sigh leaving him.
That boy is exactly Sunghoon’s type, Jake knows it. Cute, smart, a little athletic and clingy. When Sunghoon returns, if he returns, Jake’s sure that he won’t be single. It leaves Jake feeling empty, the thought. At the same time, he can’t blame Sunghoon’s junior. Sunghoon is perfect. Handsome, funny, smart, kind, a gentleman, protective... Jake could go on forever, but he knows it would only make his heart ache more.
He glances around, seeing that Jongseong and Heeseung had left the bar counter in favour of the dance floor. Same goes for the three youngest, Riki currently showing Sunoo some advanced dance steps. If Sunghoon was here Jake would have dragged him there, but as it is now Jake has no desire to dance.
Instead he flags for the bartender, ordering enough alcohol to fend for a village. Jake knows it’s not good, considering his tolerance for alcohol, but he doesn’t care. Right now he wants to drown his sorrow in drinks.
About forty minutes later Jake’s too drunk for his own good, in the process of ordering another shot when Jay finds him. Jongseong takes a look at him and immediately swears, shooing the bartender away before he can serve Jake more drinks.
“Noo!” Jake whines as Jongseong hands him a glass of water.
“Come on, Jake. Just drink this. Sunghoon will have my head if he finds out you got this drunk…” He mutters the last part, but the only thing Jake picks up is Sunghoon’s name.
“Sunghoon? W-where ‘s Hoonie?” Jake turns his head, regretting it a second later as his head throbs. He feels dizzy all of a sudden, whining as he clutches his head.
“..hurts,”
Jongseong sighs, “Yeah, ‘cause you drank too much.”
“You-you’re being mean…” Jake sulks, letting his head rest on the bar counter. He’s so tired…
“What’s this?” A new voice joins them, along with a hand settling at Jake’s nape.
Jake perks up, wincing when he moves into a sitting position too quickly. “Hoonie!”
Sunghoon is standing beside him, the hand at his neck massaging slightly as he looks at Jake in concern. “How much did you drink Jaeyunie?”
“...a little?”
Sunghoon turns his head to Jongseong, who shrugs. “I got here some minutes ago, and he was like this.”
“Was he alone?”
Jongseong looks a little sheepish as he avoids eye-contact with Sunghoon. “I mean, yeah.”
“Jongseong,”
“Okay look! I was dancing with Heeseung hyung and lost track of time, okay? I didn’t think Jake would drink like this.”
Sunghoon sighs but nods his head in agreement. He turns back to Jaeyun, who has his eyes closed as he leans into Sunghoon. He can’t help the way his eyes soften at the sight. Jake’s just too cute.
“Jaeyun-ah, let's go home.”
-
Getting home to the dorm Sunghoon and Jake shared was no problem, Jake going along with everything Sunghoon said. Sunghoon definitely prefers Jaeyun being like this when he’s drunk, instead of fighting back everything he said. Still, it made him worried sick at the thought of how defenceless he could become if the wrong person tried to talk to him. Their friends had explained that it’s only with Sunghoon that Jake doesn’t fight back, but Sunghoon has yet to see it in real life.
“Come here Jaeyun-ah, you have to change out of those clothes.”
Jake trudges over to where Sunghoon’s sitting, placing himself between Sunghoon’s spread legs. He places his hands on Sunghoon’s shoulders, fingers digging in as Jaeyun sways. Having already done this numerous times, Sunghoon knows that Jake wants Sunghoon to help him remove his clothes. It’s nothing new, and considering they’ve known each other for years now and seen each other naked in practice rooms this shouldn't be anything special. But Sunghoon’s heart betrays him as it speeds up, stuttering as Jaeyun tightens the grip he has on his shoulders.
“Why did you take your tightest pair of pants tonight?” Sunghoon grumbles more to himself, but Jake giggles.
“They make my ass look great,”
Yes, they do. Sunghoon thinks. He won’t admit it to anyone, but he’s caught himself staring more than once at Jake’s ass when he’s been wearing this pair of pants.
After some struggle Sunghoon manages to pry the pants off of Jaeyun, and then he starts unbuttoning the silk shirt Jake had opted for tonight. He tries to keep his thoughts far away from the room, but it’s hard with the way Jaeyun lets out small content sighs whenever Sunghoon accidentally touches the older’s skin.
When Sunghoon has unbuttoned the shirt he lets himself take a few seconds to breathe. Which was a bad idea, because when he looks up again Jake’s looking down on him with barely-open eyes, lips parted and swollen from the way he always bites on them. The shirt is hanging loosely on his frame, making him look small and delicate from where Sunghoon’s sitting.
“Sunghoonie,”
Sunghoon gulps. “Yeah?”
“Don’t…don’t forget about me now that you’re not single,” Jaeyun mumbles out, lips forming a pout.
“Wh-” Before Sunghoon can even question what that is supposed to mean Jaeyun slumps forward onto him, eyes already closed.
Well fuck. Of course Jake fell asleep after dropping that. Sunghoon shouldn't even be surprised. Drunk Jaeyun is prone to falling asleep whenever and wherever. But what did he even mean by that? Sunghoon is just as single as he was earlier in the day, and doesn’t Jaeyun know that Sunghoon could never ever forget him?
With a sigh Sunghoon adjusts his grip on Jake, before changing him into some better clothes to sleep in. As he carries Jake to bed, he can’t help but smile at the way the older nuzzles further into Sunghoon’s arms.
Tomorrow though, they’ll have a lot to talk about. Sunghoon just hopes that Jaeyun remembers everything.
-
“ Ugh, fuck me…” Jake groans as he wakes up, head pounding so much it feels like it’s gonna explode.
He sits up slowly, eyes barely open as he looks around the room. Sunghoon’s room. What? As Jake wonders what led up to him sleeping in the younger’s room, memories from last night resurface and hit him like a brick. He groans some more at it all, cursing his drunken self for always acting so clingy.
“Oh, you’re awake. Good.” Sunghoon’s standing in the doorway to his room, eyes glancing up over Jaeyun’s body.
When he returns to Jaeyun’s eyes he almost smirks at him. “I didn’t want you to choke on your own vomit and die, so you got to sleep in here tonight. Hope you don’t mind too much.”
Jake can’t stop the blush rising on his cheeks. “No, it’s okay. Sorry for uhm …for getting so drunk.”
“Don’t worry about it. You’re a cute drunk, harmless really. Now come on, I’ve made breakfast.”
Sunghoon leaves before Jaeyun has a chance to respond, leaving him no choice but to carefully walk out into the kitchen. He feels like a zombie, body heavy and head pounding as he sits down at the kitchen table. Sunghoon serves him some water and painkillers before coming back with breakfast for them both. Jake gulps down the painkillers immediately, and then they eat their breakfast in silence. Once they’re done Sunghoon rises and takes care of the plates.
“So,” Sunghoon says as he sits down. “Do you remember everything? It’s not good to drink so much that you get blackouts.”
Jake lowers his gaze as Sunghoon talks, shame creeping up on him for the reason he got drunk. “Yes, I remember everything.”
Sunghoon hums, “Why did you drink so much? You don’t usually enjoy it.”
That’s true. Jake often suffered terrible hangovers, and as a result he usually only drinks one or two glasses. Last night though… he had his reasons.
He shrugs. “I just felt like it,” Yeah that’s not gonna convince Sunghoon. Before he has a chance to counter it Jake is already opening his mouth.
“How did it go with your junior?” Jake’s sure of the answer, but he still needs to know.
Sunghoon furrows his eyebrows at him, “It went well.”
Oh .
“I took him outside and explained to him that I don’t have romantic feelings for him, and considering how drunk he was I called his friends to come pick him up. It took a while for them to get there, and I couldn’t leave him there alone. That’s why I didn’t get back earlier. But when I came back you were already drunk off your ass.”
Oh.
So…”You’re not together?”
“No? I just said that I don’t have any romantic interest in him. It’s just a little crush he’ll get over.”
Wow, Jake already feels a lot better.
Sunghoon seems to realise something, eyes lighting up. “Is that why you asked me to not forget you last night? Because you thought I had gotten together with him?”
Jake had really hoped Sunghoon would forget that part. “I mean…yeah.”
“Were you jealous?”
“I…” Jake can’t really say that the only reason he got so drunk was to forget Sunghoon walking away with that boy, sulking the whole time as he drank.
Sunghoon’s seems to take it as a yes, because he leans forward. “You know Jakey, you don’t have anything to be jealous of.”
“No?” Jake blushes at the way Sunghoon’s watching him now.
“No. You’re the only one in my heart.”
Jake widens his eyes, forcing a laugh out. “God, don’t say shit like that. You’ll make people believe you’re in love with me,”
“And what’s wrong with that?” Sunghoon squints at him.
“Y-you’re not though…” Jake's heart is beating out of control now, and he’s sure he’s blushing all the way down to his chest.
“That’s where you’re wrong. I am, in fact, in love with you.” On the surface Sunghoon looks cool, sure of himself even, but underneath he’s a nervous mess. If he’s miscalculated he’s not sure their friendship can be salvaged.
Jake’s pretty certain of the fact that he stops breathing for a few seconds.
After a few more seconds of silence Sunghoon caves, nerves winning as he averts his eyes. “Please respond,”
At that Jake’s reminded over the fact that this is Sunghoon, his Sunghoon, who despite looking sure of himself, and closed off to those who don't know him, is actually a very sensitive and caring person. Who is right now offering his heart to Jake.
Jake stands up, walking over to Sunghoon. He stands between Sunghoon’s spread legs, and he’s instantly reminded of the night before. This time he won’t fall asleep in the middle of things though. Sunghoon looks up at him, insecurity shining through his eyes. Jake’s determined to change that.
He takes a deep breath. “Sunghoon-ah, I’m in love with you.”
Sunghoon relaxes at the words, breathing out a sigh of relief. “You don’t understand how happy that makes me feel.”
“No, I’m pretty sure I understand.” Jake’s feeling it himself, despite his terrible hangover.
Laughing, Sunghoon wraps his arms around Jaeyun’s waist, bringing him closer. Jaeyun laughs himself, his own arms finding their way around Sunghoon’s neck. It feels nice, just standing there and being in each other’s arms.
Jake hums as Sunghoon’s hands begin caressing his sides, before they settle at Jake’s hips instead. With a little manoeuvring Sunghoon nudges Jaeyun so he’s straddling his lap, hands still settled at the older’s hips.
“You know, I've always wanted to do this,” Sunghoon whispers, eyes focused on Jaeyun’s lips.
“Yeah?” Jaeyun leans in, breath ghosting over Sunghoon’s lips.
Sunghoon licks his lips, muttering a soft ‘ yeah’ before he’s closing the distance between their lips. Jake moans at the feeling, eagerly responding to the kiss. For a first kiss it’s not very sweet, too much tongue and teeth to be considered as such. Jaeyun loves it though. Having spent more time than he can count on fantasies about kissing Sunghoon, he must say the real deal beats even the best of fantasies he’s had. The way Sunghoon pulls him impossibly closer, licking and sucking on his lips as Jaeyun just gives. He tangles his hands in the hair at Sunghoon’s nape, moans and groans leaving both of them before they break apart.
They both take a moment to catch their breath, but after a few seconds Jaeyun is already diving in again, this time kissing down Sunghoon’s neck. Sunghoon angles his head to give Jaeyun more space to work with, soft sighs leaving his lips. He moves his hands to Jaeyun's waist, gripping it tight as the older sucks at a particular spot on his neck. Sunghoon can feel how Jaeyun smiles against his neck at the action, before he's coming up to connect their lips.
This time it's a lot sweeter, but nice all the same. As they disconnect their lips Sunghoon rests his forehead against Jake's, marvelling at how red and plush the older's lips got from just some kissing. He moves his gaze to Jaeyun's eyes, feeling his heart swell at the look in them.
Jaeyun looks so happy, love shining through as he stares down at Sunghoon. He smiles at it.
"Jaeyunie, will you be my boyfriend?"
His eyes widen slightly at Sunghoon's words, before a big smile is taking over his face, nodding yes.
"Yes, I would love to be your boyfriend." He says before leaning in to connect their lips.
And as they disconnect, Sunghoon can’t help but thank his junior silently. Because if not for his confession, Sunghoon isn’t sure he would have Jaeyun in his lap right now, with the ability to call the latter his boyfriend.
