Headcold

Summary:

Raz doesn't get sick often.

But when he DOES, He acts like a frail victorian child who's asking mother to see the garden one last time before the consumption takes hold.

Chapter Text

Raz hadn't exactly been feeling well lately.

Sure, he kissed a girl with a head cold a couple of times and got thrown into a water tornado, but he didn't think much of it. It's not as though it was the first time that he'd ever gone through something like that.

He'd saved the world twice, reunited the Psychic 6, and became a junior agent all in around a week. For a ten-year-old, that's a lot, and he kind of just assumed that his body was recovering from the amount of adrenaline it was generating after he conked out for around 18 hours. If he was being honest with himself, he should probably get out of bed and ready for training, but his body felt like it was made of lead as he lay facedown on his bunk.

The weight of his blankets pulled him down further, which caused him to whine and bury his face deeper into the pillow as if that would protect him from the strange cold that seemed to permeate his skin. His skin was sweaty and sticky against the material. His hair fell limply over his forehead and onto the mattress as he tried to curl up tighter and hide away from the world.

He heard someone knock on the door, and he groggily lifted his head above his blankets, just so much as if he could see who was talking to him. "Oi, poots. Wake up, breakfast." Lizzie's fist pounded on the door, which made Raz's head hurt even more. "I'm up, I'm up..." He muttered, trying to muster up the energy to be louder.

It took a few minutes before he could manage to sit upright. His body protested loudly and shuddered in response to the air hitting his skin, but he managed to shuffle out the door. He made his way to the dorm's common area where the other junior agents were hanging out and eating breakfast.

He sat down at the table, grabbed the box of cereal, and poured himself a bowl. "Raz! How'd you sleep?" Sam smiled at him. Raz didn't say anything but responded with a hum. "I know how he slept. He snored. Loudly," Gisu said, laughing. Adam glared playfully at her. "What? It happens sometimes." He grinned, then looked back at Raz, concern was written across his face. "How are you doing, little guy?"

"Good…" Raz swallowed the contents of his mouthful of cereal in one go and pushed the bowl aside. He reached for a spoon and started poking at the sugary mound. "Are we training today?" He asked, his voice small and tired.

The other junior agents exchanged nervous glances, none of them sure what was going on. The usually energetic Raz looked like a zombie and moved like one. There was no bounce in his step as he walked and nothing in his eyes when he spoke. Adam was the first one to speak up. "Uhm... Raz, are you sure you're feeling-"

"You look like shit," Sam added bluntly. Adam's comment only prompted a pained groan from Raz. His shoulders slumped forward as he rested his forehead on the wooden surface of the table in front of him, arms folded loosely. "My head hurts..." He moaned quietly. "I hate this. Why am I awake? It's too early!" His muffled voice came out in an almost whining tone as he complained. "And why is it so cold!" He lifted his head and stared off into space, a frown marring his features.

"Raz, it's like 8 am? What, did you stay up late again reading those comics again?" Norma joked awkwardly, trying to lighten the mood a bit. "No... And.. they're historically accurate graphic literature..!" He said in his usual protest, but his hand fell back down as soon as it lifted. Even Norma seemed nervous at this point. Everyone seemed to have noticed his obvious discomfort.

"Anyway.." Raz sighed, looking between everyone else in the room. "What are we doing today? Like... lessons? Training room?" He blinked slowly like it was hard for him to process things. Or maybe it was just because his eyes were starting to feel sore again. A headache was beginning to form behind his eyes. He wanted to lie back down, curl up and go back to sleep. But he knew he couldn't. Not yet.

"Uhm... we were planning on doing something outside.." Adam says tentatively, looking at Raz nervously. Raz stared at him for a bit, before hopping off his chair. "M'kay.." He mumbled, walking towards the exit of the dorm. Well, not exactly walked, more like shuffled. He didn't manage to get very far before Lizzie realized what he was trying to do and grabbed him with telekinesis. His eyes widened at the sudden weightlessness.

"Hey! Lemme go!" He kicked his legs in the air in frustration, but Lizzie didn't let up. "Nope. We're not letting you walk out in your PJs. Especially since you're probably sick." She crossed her arms and gave him a flat stare. Raz squirmed in her grip, but it was hard to get out of psychic hands. "I-I'm fine!" The sudden weightlessness made him feel pretty dizzy. "Oh, boy.." He mumbled under his breath as he rubbed his throbbing temples.

"We've still got two days before training starts. We're not letting you be sick and stumble around the motherlobe." Lizzie said decisively. Raz kept trying to squirm out, using whatever energy he had left to kick his legs and whine. "I'm not si-IICK... -Choo!" He sneezed, nose dripping a bit as he sniffled. Some of the agents jumped back a bit at the sudden noise.

"Yep, nope. You're staying here." Lizzie said, pulling him closer. Raz responded to the movement with a "Weh" of protest, making Lizzie roll her eyes. "You're coming, you're sick, and that's final." She tightened her grip and tugged him along in the direction of their common room. Raz resisted by kicking his legs wildly, but Lizzie's strength was enough to make the effort futile.

She finally let him go, putting him down on the couch. He flopped back on the cushions, panting and trying his best not to sneeze again. "Fine!" He shouted, waving his hands in frustration before curling up on the couch. "I'll stay put, just don't touch me or anything!" Something about being sick made his body more sensitive to every touch and texture, which made him incredibly uncomfortable.

Raz rolled off the couch onto the floor before he continued to whine under his breath. "Why can't we leave now? I wanna go outside! Let's go!" He whined, trying to get back up but falling flat on his face. Even Adam couldn't help but snort a bit at his display of sickly stubbornness.

"Okay, okay," Adam said. "Just chill for a bit." With a small smile, Adam bent down and picked up Raz off the ground. Raz made a few noises of protest as he sat back down. "You're gonna need to be sitting there until you stop being sick."

"Buhhh..?" Raz whined once more. "I don't wanna!" "Sorry to break it to you, Lil buddy, but I think you might have to." He held him firmly, but gently, in his lap. He pressed the back of his palm on his forehead. "Shit, you're burning up." He said with concern as he glanced over his shoulder at Lizzie. "Get a blanket, quick" He instructed her, causing her to nod and dart off in search of one. Adam continued holding on to him as the boy sat on his lap and pouted.

Sam and Gisu both laughed as they watched the exchange. "Don't listen to him, dude, you're fine. I mean, you are sick as fuck, but you won't die, or anything." Gisu smirked a bit. Adam glared at her. "Language, Gisu, He's ten!" He hissed. Gisu laughed, nudging her elbow into Adam.

Raz whined again as he felt Adam shift him a bit, making him more comfortable. Lizzie returned a moment later with a red blanket that she wrapped around Raz. He grumbled but accepted it as he buried his face into the faux fur. "You feeling a bit better?" Lizzie asked quietly. Raz shook his head as he wiped away some snot on his sleeve. "I feel like..." He thought for a moment, trying to find a metaphor. "A.. bathed cat." It wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing.

Gisu and Sam shared amused looks. "Bathed cat? That's pretty fitting." Sam said. Lizzie nodded in agreement. Gisu laughed and turned back to face Adam and Raz. Adam finally let Raz go, putting his wrapped-up body on the couch and propping him up with a pillow. Raz lay his head on the armrest, quickly falling asleep despite the dull pain in his head.

Adam glanced at the sleeping child on the couch. "Should we wake him up?" He questioned, nodding towards Raz. "He seems tired," Sam mumbled. Adam hummed in reply. "He didn't seem sick yesterday... He'll probably get worse throughout the day, not better." Sam said casually. "My brother got a head cold when we were at whispering rock last year. We both did. Poor little guy was out of it for a week. Acted like he was dying." She laughed to herself.

"He'll be fine. Let's just let him sleep." Adam replied. Gisu nodded and shrugged. "Well, if anyone has any ideas on what we could do today, I'd love to hear 'em." She grinned widely. All six members of the team looked at each other hesitantly for a couple of moments. "Well... We can't just leave him alone." Adam finally says after a pause. He sighs. "Not right now, anyway."

Norma groaned. "Great. Babysitting duty." She grumbled under her breath while rolling her eyes and standing up from where she'd been perched on a nearby chair. "Don't be like that, Norma. Not his fault he's sick." Adam scolded her. Raz shuffled in his sleep a bit at the noise but didn't wake.

"What? Should we take him to medbay or keep him here?" Morris leaned onto the table. "I don't know... He's still getting used to living here. Don't know how he'll react to waking up somewhere new." Adam answered, scratching his cheek lightly with the tip of his finger. "If we move him anywhere else, we'll probably end up disturbing him in his sleep." He said, frowning a bit.

Suddenly, Raz shifted in his sleep again, mumbling in his sleep and seemingly trying to grab something. Adam looked back at the boy and frowned slightly. "What's he doing?" He asks curiously. Lizzie walked over to the couch and crouched next to him. "I don't know." She muttered, staring down at the sleeping child. "His hands... They're grabbing something." She mumbled again.

"Does he have a plushie or something?" Sam asked, looking at Raz and tilting her head. "I can check his room," Lizzie said as she walked towards the hallway. A moment later she came back holding a ragged stuffed rabbit in her hand. "I think this is it." She whispered, handing the toy to Adam and watching as he carefully placed the bunny in Raz's hands. Once he did so, the boy seemed to immediately calm down, settling into the soft material comfortably. He smiled slightly and curled his fingers around the stuffed animal.

"Huh..." Adam said softly. He noticed that Raz was shaking quite a bit, but still sweating. "He looks pretty pale.." He murmured. "You guys think he'll be okay?" Lizzie asked with a hint of nervousness in her voice. "I mean, Probably." Sam shrugged. "He'll feel pretty bad for a while, but he'll be okay." She said casually.

Chapter Text

They decided to stay in. Lizzie and Sam watched TV, Sam was making something or other, Gisu and Morris were playing cards, And Adam was sitting next to Raz to make sure he was okay while he napped. Adam wasn't even sure why he did, considering that he was practically useless in sickness, but Raz reminded him of his siblings enough to make him want to protect him.

Adam rubbed Raz's head but pulled his hand away when he felt how clammy he was. "Gross." He muttered. Raz's eyes fluttered open at the sudden touch. His vision was bleary and the air felt even colder than it was when he fell asleep. "Mm... Wh' goin' on?" He mumbled with a yawn.

"Nothing," Adam replied. "How are you feeling?" He asked, running his thumb across the boys hair. He felt a slight shudder pass through Raz's frame. "M'm cold.." He replied slowly. He shivered and whimpered against his pillow. Adam held the back of his hand against Raz's forehead again. "I think your fever's gotten worse." He said with a note of concern in his voice.

Raz sniffled quietly as he struggled to pull himself up onto his elbow. Adam adjusted the blanket so that Raz wasn't laying on his chest. "Hey, you should try to rest." He said. Raz shook his head weakly. "Do'n wan' too." He managed to utter before laying back down and burying his face into the pillows again.

Adam sighed and brushed Raz's damp bangs away from his forehead, letting them fall back in front of his face. Raz just felt worse than he did before he fell asleep. His head felt heavy and his mind was all foggy. "Where's mama?" He wondered aloud as he blinked and pushed his hair out of his face. It only served to make his head pound worse, causing him to wince. Adam reached out and took hold of Raz's hand.

"Your mom's at the questionable area, remember?" Raz seemed to remember what he was talking about. "Oh, right." He muttered. "Maybe we should, y'know, actually take his temperature?" Morris suggested. They all nodded. Adam pulled back from the couch. "C'mon." He said, helping Raz to stand up. "Let's get you to the bathroom. We can take your temperature and get you some medicine." Adam motioned for Lizzie to follow, and helped him hobble down the hall and into the bathroom, where they set him down on the tile floor, with the blanket covering him.

The bathroom had some basic medicines in it. Nothing too crazy, just some basic stuff to help with small ailments without requiring going to the medbay. "Whaddaya think, Liz? Make him wired or knock him out?" He joked, holding up the Dayquil and Nyquil bottles. Lizzie laughed, shaking her head. "Honestly? I'd rather have him awake now so he isn't struggling all night."

Adam nodded, measuring out a bit of the Dayquil in the small plastic cup. "Here ya go." He held the cup out to Raz who squinted a bit to focus on it. "There's a fissh in that." He said through his teeth, smiling and giggling. Adam looked at him confused. "Fish?! There's no fish." Raz burst into laughter. "You're a fish!" He continued to giggle and chuckle. Adam rolled his eyes with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "That makes no sense," He commented as he handed Raz the cup.

Raz took the cup and drank the whole thing in one swallow. As he drank the liquid he grimaced, cringing a bit. "Bleh...." He complained. "It tastes funny." He added. He held the cup close to his face and stared intently at the empty cup. "Who put those in there?" He whined, pointing his finger accusingly at the cup. "What's wrong now..?" Lizzie asked, slightly curious. "There is MORE fish in my cup! Who does that waiter think he is?!" He yelled, throwing the cup against the wall and stomping his foot.

Adam and Lizzie made eye contact, nodding in unison as they communicated that Raz's fever had definitely gotten worse. "Okay then," Adam said, chuckling. "We'll make sure to put less fish in tomorrow." He promised as Raz huffed in annoyance, leaning back against the wall again and crossing his arms in annoyance. "Whatever." He huffs, pouting slightly and glaring off into space.

"Alright, buddy, It's time to take your temperature.." Adam said, pulling the cup away from the smaller boy. Raz whined softly and tried to fight against Adam's grip, but it was not like it would do him much good. Raz let out a loud, grumpy sigh as he curled himself up in his blanket.

"Come on, Raz. Open up." Adam cooed playfully. Raz just gave him another irritated huff and stubbornly kept his mouth shut. "If we don't take your temperature, we won't be able to figure out how to care for you..?" He tried again, a little more gentle this time as he brought the thermometer up to Raz's mouth and pressed it inside. Raz huffed again and crossed his arms, glaring. "Why are you such a little sourpuss?" Adam chided with a grin.

Raz glared harder. The thermometer soon beeped. "102.6. That's pretty high..." Lizzie hummed thoughtfully. Adam nodded slowly, taking the thermometer out of Raz's mouth. "You think that's gonna be a problem?" Lizzie shook her head. "Nah, he's probably just getting the brunt of it. If it gets worse, we take him to the medbay, okay?" Adam nodded in agreement.

Raz sneezed, arm not stopping his face from being covered in snot. "Yech, I keep forgetting how gross kids can be," Lizzie commented as Adam wiped the mucus from Raz's nose with a wet rag. "I-I'm not a kid! I'm 10!!" He exclaimed angrily, trying to grab the towel back from Adam. "Yeah... Yeah, you are." Adam snickered, picking him up and walking back to the common room.

"You guys hungry?" Lizzie asked. Adam nodded. "Sam's been working on something for an hour or so. I'm guessing that's lunch." Sam perked up as she heard her name. "I made soup!" She exclaimed happily. "Soup..?" Raz repeated curiously as he was sat down. "Yep! I hope you like tomatoes!"

"Hehe. Soup." Raz repeated giggling. "I'm kind of just impressed you managed to make something with the stuff we have in our cupboards," Adam said as he started eating. Sam shrugged. "It's just something I throw together whenever I'm sick." She replied simply. Raz played around with the soup in his bowl, only occasionally sipping and silently giggling to himself.

"What's so funny?" Lizzie asked. Raz giggled more. "Tomato soup tells funny jokes..." He mumbled. "Your soup is talking to you?" Lizzie raised an eyebrow incredulously. "Mmmh... hm." Raz hummed. "And?" Lizzie asked. "And it's telling me..." Raz giggles again. "You have a dumb face."

"I got a stupid face? Really?" Lizzie asked with wide eyes. "Mhm." Raz nods happily and continues to eat. Lizzie shook her head. "At least he's happy while he's delirious." She remarked sarcastically. Adam chuckled as he watched Raz eat. "Yeah. So.. who wants to try and put him back on the couch?" He suggested. "I'll do it. C'mon, Raz." Sam tried to scoop him up, but Raz managed to slip out and attempt to run away.

"I won't be restrained!" He yelled (more like slurred) as he tried to run off somewhere, but his usually agile self was sluggish from illness. "Oh no, you don't!" Sam scooped him up, holding him in her arms as he tried his best to wriggle out. "I can't rest!" He squealed as he tried and failed to escape her grasp. "Raz, You need to calm down." She said, putting him down on the couch and covering him with blankets.

Raz grumbled, still attempting to get out of her grip. "I don't wanna stay here. The walls are all weird and melty." He said. "They look normal to me." Adam raised an eyebrow. "NO! The walls are WEIRD and I don't like it!!" He screamed, curling up under the blankets. "You need to chill out," Adam said as he knelt beside the couch.

"My body feels weird. And cold." Raz whined. "Yeah, that's gonna come with having a fever. You need to rest and drink water." Lizzie stated. Raz sighed, finally relenting and sitting back down. "Fine." He mumbled. "How are you feeling?" Adam questioned. Raz mumbled something about feeling hot and cold but it was barely audible while he was nuzzling into the pillow. Adam could hear him whining about something but couldn't make it out.

"My body hurts..." He whimpered, resting his head on top of the pillow, wrapping his arms around his plushie. "Yeah, well your body needs to be better before you can do anything strenuous," Adam explained. "It doesn't feel good though!" He cried. "Hey, hey. Take it easy, alright?" Adam soothed. "You'll feel better once you've rested a bit more." He assured him gently. "Are you comfortable?" Adam asked. Raz nodded and buried his face deeper into the pillow.

After several minutes passed, Raz began to stir uneasily and whine quietly. "My head hurts.." He whined softly. He tried to sit up but suddenly stopped when he felt dizziness hit him. His heart began beating quickly inside his chest, making him nauseous. He tried to ignore it by closing his eyes and breathing deeply through his nose. He did everything he could to push it away. He felt a hand on his forehead. He winced a bit at the heat radiating from it.

He felt as if he were burning alive from the inside out. It was unbearable. He opened his eyes to find Lizzie staring at him. She looked concerned. "You ok?" She asked softly, voice trembling as she reached out for him. He turned away, refusing to meet her gaze. "Don't touch me." He hissed, feeling tears prickle in his eyes. It suddenly felt like he could feel every thread of fabric in his clothes

"Raz.." Lizzie began hesitantly. He turned towards her, narrowing his eyes, ready to scream. But before he had the chance to say anything, however, he felt a sudden coughing fit overcome him, bringing him crashing backward into the couch.

"Ow!" He groaned as he pulled himself back into the cushions, pressing himself further into the pillows. "Oh my gosh... Oh my god. Raz! Are you ok?!" Lizzie asked, looking completely horrified. "I... I don't know..." Raz admitted. Raz stared blankly ahead. "I don't feel good." He whimpered quietly, hugging the plushie close to his stomach and shutting his eyes tightly. He whimpered again and closed his eyes, hoping that it would help. But his headache didn't go away.

"I know..." Lizzie murmured under her breath, biting her lip anxiously. "Liz, why don't you get him some water?" Adam suggested, trying his best to hide the worry in his voice. Lizzie nodded and stood up from her position. She went over to the fridge, grabbed one of the bottles of water, and went straight to the couch. "Here. Drink this." She told Raz gently. Raz blinked blearily at her, before grabbing the bottle and sipping some of it.

"You're probably dehydrated," Lizzie said, giving him the bottle back. He took another sip, this time slower. After a few moments of silence, he spoke up, his voice raspy. "Is everyone going to leave me alone now..?" He asked quietly, avoiding Lizzie's eyes. Lizzie sighed. "Everyone will stay until you're better. We're just making sure you're okay, dude."

"I know.." He mumbled. "But... Stop focusin' on me.." Raz added quietly after a moment. Lizzie shook her head, sighing. "I'm just worried about you, Raz.." She whispered. Raz nodded slightly, still refusing to look her in the eye.

Adam and Liz exchanged a confused glance. "Hey, buddy. Wanna tell us what's wrong?" Lizzie asked carefully. Raz swallowed thickly. "Am I gonna die?" His voice was almost nonexistent as he spoke. His eyes fluttered open a couple of times to blink slowly. Lizzie frowned sadly. "No, you aren't going to die. You have a bad fever. You'll be okay in a few days." She answered reassuringly.

Adam furrowed his eyebrows. He didn't think Raz would ask a question like that. "I don't want to dieeee.." Raz continued to mumble, shaking his head rapidly. Adam stood up slowly and walked over to the couch. "Hey, no. Don't do that. You'll get you better soon." He reassured the boy. "But what if I dieeeee?" Raz repeated, sounding desperate as his eyes filled with tears. "Shh, calm down. You're not going to die. I promise." Adam tried to assure him. Suddenly he noticed that he was getting a bit heated.

Raz let out a whimper and shuddered slightly, clutching his shirt tighter. His breaths were quickening and he felt sweat dripping down his face as he started panting heavily. "Calm down, okay? Just relax, okay? You'll feel better in no time." Adam insisted. Raz let out a small whimper as he curled up into a tight ball, clutching his stuffed toy tightly in his hands. Tears pricked his eyes and he squeezed his eyes shut tightly.

Adam froze. He was a bit shocked at seeing Raz so vulnerable. He glanced at Lizzie briefly before turning back to Raz. He moved closer, kneeling next to him and pulling him into his arms gently. "Hey... Hey... Hey, you're going to be alright. You're not going to die. Look at me." He requested calmly.

Raz reluctantly obeyed, opening his eyes and looking at Adam with glazed-over eyes. "Come on, take deep breaths," Adam instructed. Raz sniffled, tears streaming down his cheeks and his breaths becoming quicker. "Deep breaths," Adam cooed. "You're doing great." He encouraged. "Breathe in, breathe out. Nice and slow."  He guided him. "See? You're doing great."

The words calmed him down somewhat, as he began following Adam's instructions, slowly calming down and relaxing against him. Soon enough, his breathing evened out and his trembling lessened. "There we go." Adam smiled, brushing his hair out of his face. "Better?" He inquired. Raz gave a nod, still holding onto the bear tightly.

"That's good... Want me to get some of your comics from the room?" He offered. "Nuhhh..." Raz muttered. "Do you want to do anything, then?" Raz thought for a moment before pointing at the TV. "You wanna watch TV?" Adam asked. Raz tilted his head slightly. 'Noise.. helps me sleep.' He thought. Adam picked up on it. "Ok. What do you wanna see?"

Raz shrugged, thinking about it. 'I dunno... Something light and fluffy or something?' He wondered. 'Comedy?' 'Yeah.' Raz thought excitedly. Adam chuckled and turned the television on. Raz cuddled up closer to him, still clutching onto his blanket. He watched as Adam flickered through channels quickly, settling on one in particular. It was a random episode of Friends. Raz seemed pleased and leaned a little closer to Adam, letting out a small yawn.

Raz sneezed again, causing him to turn slightly red as he wiped the back of his wrist across his mouth. He pouted unhappily, looking back at the television. Adam glanced at him briefly and smiled softly. He placed an arm around him gently, squeezing him closer. "Everything's gonna be fine, buddy." He whispered. "Thanks..." Raz replied as he closed his eyes tiredly.

Raz fell back asleep relatively quickly, leaving Adam and Lizzie to stare at each other and sigh in relief. "Oh, thank god. Peace." Lizzie breathed out in exhaustion. "What was that all about?" Adam asked softly. "I don't know." She whispered back. Adam shrugged helplessly as he ran a hand through his curly hair. "It feels like there's something else going on here…" He commented worriedly. He glanced nervously at their friend who was sound asleep beside him.

"Eh, Probably delirium." Lizzie shrugged. "Most likely, He's gonna feel better soon."  She added. "Hopefully." She mumbled, sitting up.

Chapter Text

The interns decided to leave Raz alone, just long enough to grab some take-out from the cafeteria. After all, He was napping again.

As they walked back to the dorms, Surprisingly, Lizzie seemed the most nervous out of them. "Are you ok?" Adam asked softly, stopping in the middle of the hallway as the others kept walking forward. Lizzie looked back at him, smiling lightly.

"Just... Worried about him." She murmured. Adam nodded and placed his arm around her shoulders. "He's going to be okay." He assured. "He's sleeping. Not much a napping kid can do." Lizzie looked down. "I don't know.. what if he woke up while we were away and got scared because he didn't know where we were?" She mumbled nervously.

Adam shook his head, rubbing her shoulder comfortingly. "I tried shaking him awake to tell him we were leaving. Little dude was sleeping like a log. 'Sides, he's smart. He'll probably know to stay put." He told her. Lizzie sighed deeply. "I hope you're right," she muttered.

When they got back to the dorms, something immediately felt off. Everything seemed relatively normal. Except for the tv area. There were blankets in a heap on the floor, and the pillows were on the floor as well to the right of it. 'It's okay.' Lizzie reassured herself. 'He probably just rolled off the couch and decided to sleep on the floor was more comfortable.'  She figured. However, she couldn't stop the uneasiness that had settled within her stomach.

She walked over toward the mound of blankets. "Hey, Raz, we didn't know what you wanted, so we got you a grilled cheese," Lizzie called out carefully. No response. She frowned, shaking it a bit. "Hey, are you in there?" She questioned. Still no reply. Lizzie felt even more anxious now. She lifted the blankets, expecting, no, hoping to find him under there.

But he wasn't.

".. Adam?" She looked over at him, her eyes widening as she realized the situation. He looked at her worriedly. "Where'd he go?!" He demanded urgently. "I don't know!" Lizzie admitted as panic started rising inside her chest.

"Damn it! We should have had someone stay here!" Lizzie groaned. "Hey, Lizzie, It's okay! He's probably in the bathrooms or he went back to his dorm or something. Let's just check the other rooms." Adam suggested, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay. Lizzie stared at the mess of blankets in frustration.

They split up after another few minutes, Adam running to the bathroom while Lizzie searched the rooms for Raz. He didn't turn up. Everyone was beginning to get nervous. "Fucking hell, where IS he?!" Lizzie yelled, exasperated. The rest of the junior agents gathered in front of her, unsure what to do. "Look, we were gone for like, 20 minutes tops. He couldn't have gone far." Sam tried to reassure her.

"Hey, Calm down, everyone. If we split up and look for him, we have a higher chance of finding him. I doubt he could have gotten far anyways considering he was basically unconscious by the time we left." Gisu reasoned. "Can't the kid, like.. teleport?" Morris asked. "More reason we should split up and look for him. It's pretty late, there shouldn't be many people out and about right now." Adam stated. "Let's go find him, then!" Adam announced, motioning for them to follow him. They nodded and headed off together.

They split up, checking around the motherlobe for any sign of Raz. It wasn't easy. The place was huge, but somehow he managed to wander away without anyone noticing. There really was no telling where he could have gone. His psychic signature was basically everywhere and it was hard to pinpoint where exactly he was. "Fuckin hell.." Lizzie muttered. "Where in gods name is he?!"

"Do you think I'd be standing here if I knew?" Adam scoffed, rolling his eyes at her comment. "I don't know!" Lizzie pinched the bridge of her nose. "I'm gonna give you hell for this forever." She muttered irritably. "Why me?!" Adam grumbled. "It was your idea to leave him alone!" Lizzie snapped. "Well, you're the one who brought it up!" Adam retorted. "You COULD have stayed with him, no one was forcing you to come!"

While the two of them were arguing, Sam glanced over at the exit door. She rolled her eyes while they fought. 'We might as well check everywhere..' she thought to herself as she took the elevator down to reception. The receptionist was on break. Again. She sighed to herself before walking outside. "Raz!" She called out. There was no answer, but she could sense Raz's psychic signature floating around.

"Raz?" She called again. She began to look around, the evening sun slowly setting on the horizon. It was getting cold, and if he was out here, She needed to find him, and fast. It was a small area anyways, so she could easily search the entire grounds and not see much. She looked around, trying to pinpoint exactly where he was. She walked towards the outdoor seating area, looking around, Then something caught her eye.

A tiny figure curled up under one of the tables. Only in his pajamas, barefoot, and clutching his plush rabbit for dear life with tears. streaming down his face. Raz. She rushed to his side, kneeling beside him and putting a comforting hand on his trembling form. "Shh... Shh. Hey, Raz, it's alright. Are you hurt?" She cooed quietly, holding his hand. His hand was icy cold and he was shivering like mad, eyes glazed over from fever.

It took him a bit to recognize who was next to him, but when he did, he basically threw his arms around Sam, letting out a small whimper. "I-I'm cold.." He said in between sobs. Sam nodded, wrapping an arm around him tightly. "What are you doing out here, Razberry?" She asked softly, brushing some stray curls out of his face. He sniffled. "I thought people were lookin' for me... T-they were scary... I couldn't find you, I got worried..." he explained tiredly, tears spilling out of his eyes.

Fever dream. Sam was all too familiar with it. "It's okay, Raz. You're safe now, okay? No one's gonna hurt you." She promised softly, stroking his hair. "We have dinner back at the dorm. Are you hungry?" She asked, helping him stand up. His legs felt weak and shaky, so she had to support most of his weight.

"Mhm.." he hummed, resting his head against her slightly. Sam smiled softly, supporting his weight. "Then let's get back to the dorms okay? You need to eat." She insisted. He didn't say anything. Instead, he just followed along with her quietly, clinging onto her. He was shivering uncontrollably. He looked so tiny, despite their similar heights, and he looked pale. She was almost worried that if he shook anymore, he might shatter in her arms.

"You feeling okay? Do you want anything to drink? How about some apple juice?" She asked, gently rubbing her thumb across his cheek soothingly. He nodded softly, still not responding. Sam pulled him a little closer. "That sounds good." He whispered, his voice hoarse. Sam smiled softly. "Alright." She replied softly.

"I found him!" She called out to the others as she walked back to the Lobby, Raz in tow. Everyone turned and stared at him in surprise, which only caused Raz to start crying harder, burrowing into Sam further to make sure nobody saw him. "Oh my god, Raz?! What happened?!" Adam exclaimed. She held him in her arms. "He had a nightmare and went looking for us. I think he might have been teleporting in his sleep or something." Sam answered. "Are you alright, Razzy?" She asked when he noticed him hiding. He sniffled quietly, trying to hide his face.

"Let's just get back to the dorms. I think he's a bit overwhelmed." Sam advised. Adam nodded, looking slightly relieved, while the others remained concerned. "Come on, Razzy," Sam whispered, lifting him in her arms once more. He clung to her tightly, his face pressed up against her shoulder. He cried softly as they walked back to the dorms in silence. Sam tried her best to support his weight, although she had to admit that he didn't weigh very much, and he wasn't making it easy either.

As soon as they got to the dorms, She set him back down on the couch, wrapping him in blankets once more. As she sat down, she could hear him sniffle and hiccup. She wrapped him up in a blanket, sitting next to him. Adam stood nearby, watching as she spoke. "You'll feel a bit better once you get a bit of food in you, okay?" She had a sort of softness to her voice Adam hadn't heard much of before from her. It was unusual, but nice to hear.

Raz nodded softly, sniffling loudly. "I'm scared.." he mumbled. Sam placed a tender hand on top of his head, stroking his hair. "Don't be scared, Raz. Everything will be fine." She reassured him quietly. He hugged his bunny tighter. "You want your juice box?" She asked, walking to the fridge. "Yeah." He said softly, looking down at his knees as he fiddled with his hands.

Sam returned with the juice box, placing it on the coffee table. "How are you feeling, Razberry?" She asked, smiling warmly. Raz shrugged, looking embarrassed. "mm' tired" He responded quietly. "Sounds like bedtime, then. After you get something to eat." She replied, grabbing the now slightly cold grilled cheese sandwich off the table.

She handed it to him carefully, keeping a wary eye on him. "Here ya go." She murmured, sitting back down next to him. "Thank y'u, Sammy." Raz murmured. "No problem. Now eat your sandwich, Raz." He gave him a grateful smile and dug in.

Sam smiled a bit as she watched him eat before turning around to see her friends staring at her in shock. "Huh..?" She raised an eyebrow at them curiously. "Dunno... I kinda just... didn't expect you to be the type to be good with kids." Adam shrugged. "Where did "Razberry" come from?" Lizzie smirked a bit.

"I'unno." Sam shrugged. "Kinda just came to me. And it calms him down." He motioned to Raz who was already looking like he was about to fall asleep. "I mean.. he seems pretty happy, especially considering that whole ordeal," Lizzie remarked. "Yeah.. I guess he does, doesn't he?" Sam replied, grinning slightly.

Raz tugged on her sleeves a bit. "I'm done." He whispered. She nodded, standing up and helping him get up as well. "C'mon, It's late. Let's get you to bed, little guy." She said softly, taking his hand and leading him to the hallway. He didn't resist, instead leaning heavily on her, closing his eyes. He seemed to calm down immediately and he stopped shaking, his grip tightening on hers. They finally made it to his room.

She let his hand go, letting him get into bed by himself. "Want me to tuck you in?" She offered. He thought for a moment before nodding his head, curling up inside the blankets. She smiled a bit,  tucking him in nicely and covering him with another blanket. He felt his head. His fever had gone down from burning to just a touch warm, but he still felt feverish.

"Sleep tight, little man." She whispered, running her fingers through his hair, leaving behind a soft kiss on his forehead. "Good night." He mumbled weakly in reply. She turned to leave, keeping the door open just a crack. "Hey, if you have another nightmare, you can wake me up anytime. I won't be too mad."  She assured, squeezing his hand.

"Okay.." he yawned. He was so exhausted, it was impossible to stay awake any longer. She watched him snuggle up close to his stuffed rabbit, sighing lightly before finally shutting the light switch off and heading back to the common room.

"He asleep?" Adam asked. Sam nodded, and everyone in the room breathed a collective sigh of relief. "Oh thank GOD." Adam groaned. "He feeling any better?" He asked again, furrowing his eyebrows in concern. Sam nodded. "I think his fever's breaking." She smiled, sitting down on the couch.

"So... what was that all about?" Lizzie asked. Sam tilted her head. "What was what all about?" She asked. "It was so cute how you were taking care of him! That was really sweet of you!" Gisu exclaimed happily. Sam sighed. "I just.. wanted to try to help." She murmured. "Well, thank you for that, Sam. We probably wouldn't have found him without you." Adam admitted, putting his arm around her shoulders.

Sam blushed a bit at the sudden compliments. "It was... nothing. You take care of your own when they're sick, even the newbies to the pack." Adam laughed a bit at her animal-related metaphors. "Anyways, let's go to bed, and try not to get sick ourselves." Everyone agreed.
