Work Text:

It was an unusually warm and sunny day in South Park as Stan Marsh sat on the edge of his bed, gazing blankly into the mirror. He had been noticing some changes in his appearance lately, changes he couldn't quite understand or explain. The more he looked at himself, the more he felt like he was slowly becoming his father, Randy Marsh, and it bothered him to no end.

With a mix of frustration and uncertainty, Stan decided that he needed to do something about it. He rummaged through his bathroom cabinets, searching for the perfect solution to his problem. His tender fingers came across a bottle of blonde hair dye, and he stared at it hesitantly. Without giving it a second thought, he quickly mixed the concoction and applied it to his dark brown locks.

As the color took hold, Stan's reflection in the mirror began to change. His once familiar features morphed into a reflection that looked eerily similar to his father. He could feel the panic rising within him, gripping his heart tight. This makeshift solution to his problem only seemed to amplify the reality he was trying to avoid.

The next step was even more drastic. Stan pulled out a small box filled with various ear piercings he had collected over the years. Grabbing a needle and disinfectant, he pushed each earring through, one by one, hoping that the physical transformation would somehow alleviate the emotional turmoil he felt inside.

Once he was finished, he looked at himself in the mirror, his hair now blonde and his ears adorned with piercings. His reflection should have brought him a sense of relief or satisfaction, but instead, it filled him with an overwhelming sense of emptiness. A single tear escaped his eye and trickled down his cheek.

Unable to bear the weight of his emotions any longer, Stan retrieved his phone and dialed his boyfriend, Gary Harrison's number. He needed comfort, someone who he knew he could always rely on .

“ Hey Stan , is everything oka-“

“ Gary , I need you to come over ….please ….”

“ Oh okay Honey , I’ll be there !”

Within minutes, Gary appeared at Stan's doorstep, concern etched across his usually cheerful face. Stan ran down the stairs and quickly slammed open the door .  Stan pulled him into a tight embrace, tears streamed down his face, soaking Gary's shirt. The weight of the world lifted from Stan's shoulders as Gary wrapped his arms around him, providing the solace he so desperately sought.

"Stan, what's wrong? Why did you have  me come over ?” Gary whispered softly, his voice filled with genuine worry.

In between sniffles and hiccups, Stan managed to utter, "I... I just... I'm scared, Gary. Scared that I'm losing myself, becoming someone I never wanted to be."

Gary gently stroked Stan's dyed locks, his thumb wiping away the tears. "Stan, you're not becoming your father. You're your own person, with your own dreams, your own values. You have so much to offer, so much love to give. Don't let superficial changes define who you are."

Stan took a deep breath, finding solace in Gary's words. Slowly, his grip on Gary loosened, and he wiped away the remaining tears from his face.

"I guess I've just been feeling lost, you know? Like I'm caught in this whirlwind of changes and I can't keep up," Stan admitted, his voice shaky.

Gary nodded understandingly, his gaze filled with empathy. "Change can be scary, especially when it feels like it's taking away your identity. But remember, Stan, you're still the same person inside. Your heart, your kindness, your unwavering loyalty, they haven't changed."

Stan sniffed, a glimmer of hope shining through his puffy eyes. "You really think so?"

"I know so," Gary affirmed, his voice filled with conviction. "You're stronger than you give yourself credit for, Stan. You don't have to go through it alone."

Stan smiled weakly, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you, Gary. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Gary hugged him tighter, a reassuring presence. "You're never alone, Stan. I'm here for you, through thick and thin. Just remember, no matter what changes on the outside, you're still the person I fell in love with. And you always will be."

As the two boys stood there, finding comfort in each other's embrace, the warmth of their love slowly began to overshadow Stan's fears..

Stan glanced at himself in the mirror once again. The blonde hair and piercings no longer seemed like symbols of loss, but rather symbols of how much he fucking loved his boyfriend .
