Work Text:

Kallus can never easily ignore the tug back to consciousness first thing in the morning. He isn't thrown into full awareness or put into an instant sense of urgency any more, not like he used to be. No. Nothing like how he used to.

Blinking residual blurriness from his vision, Kallus is careful not to move too much as he looks down at the man who currently has a firm hold on his waist. Zeb has his face buried in Kallus’s chest, snores muffled by the golden, coarse hair. The human takes a few moments to enjoy the sight.

Rays of yellow with silver undertones cascade through the window, flowing softly into the room and spilling over Zeb’s fur. The sunlight seems to take its time rising, as if it too wants to savor the astonishing phenomenon that is Garazeb Orrelios.

Garazeb Orrelios.

Zeb.

Brave and courageous, and at times still unsure of himself. But still having the valor to do what he thinks is right despite his fears. A bold and fearsome warrior, but one of the most kind and compassionate people Kallus has ever had the gift of meeting.

A breath of a chuckle escapes Kallus as he thinks about the jokes that Zeb sees as peak comedy. If they came from anyone else, Kallus wouldn't think them to be nearly as funny. No, Zeb is just able to make him laugh effortlessly. Ever since he had first started realizing he had feelings for Zeb, Kallus would always turn into the biggest fool around the warrior. At least, it felt like he had. He was never able to wipe the smile from his lips around his sparring partner. Most of the time he had been able to mask it with witty banter or 'friendly' flirting.

That same hopeless smile steals over Kallus’s lips even now.

Kallus was most definitely the biggest fool. It took him months to pick up on the fact that Zeb, for some reason, felt the same about Kallus.

Zeb.

Garazeb Orrelios.

A being woven from some of the galaxy's best spools of stardust, someone who is ferociously strong but simultaneously soft and gentle. Someone who shines even in the darkest hour.

Someone who took much longer to learn to forgive himself than it did for him to forgive someone like Kallus. Someone who aided in Kallus being taught humility. Someone who can overturn all odds. Someone who leaves Kallus to just take life in with wonderment.

This. Kallus holding Zeb in his arms and is held in return. Silent moments early in the morning with Lira San's dawning suns eager to press kisses to their bodies as they wake.

Kallus fell in love with a galactic miracle.

The arms around his waist pulling him in closer, Kallus is tugged from his thoughts as Zeb stretches his body, fur standing on end slowly as Zeb exhales into Kallus’s chest.

Placing a kiss on Zeb’s forehead, Kallus cards his hands into the fur of Zeb’s shoulders to rub small circles slowly down his back.

"Morning sleepy head." Kallus nuzzles the spot where he placed the soft kiss. Zeb’s response is muffled into Kallus’s chest. "Starlight, I couldn't hear you over the sound of you hiding."

Smirking, Kallus gives the tiniest nip to one of the tips of Zeb’s flicking ears. To which his loving husband retorts to with an equally light nip to his chest.

That's how you want to play? Alright.

Kallus and Zeb spend the next few moments biting and nudging each other until they're both wrestling playfully in the sheets. Giggles escape from Kallus as he attacks any weak point within his reach. In turn, causing Zeb to growl and laugh as he uses his weight to pin Kallus to the bed, wrists captured in his hands as he successful brushes his lips against Kallus’s. The blond hums as he settles down, his heart swelling from the chaste affection.

When the kiss does finally break, Zeb nips at Kallus’s lower lip in a small taunt.

"Ni Sasha," stretching, Zeb keeps Kallus’s wrists in his grasp with a yawn, sliding them further up the bed, "I said 'give me five more damn minutes'. But no," Zeb slips both of Kallus’s wrists into one of his hands, "I have a husband who wakes up before the sun." Now with one hand free, Zeb teasingly begins to drag the tips of his claws down Kallus’s arm.

Kallus’s eyes go wide. "Garazeb- Zeb don't you dare."

Zeb tilts his head, smirking with a short lick over his fangs as his hand slowly reaches his chest. "What? I'm not doing anything…"

Despite himself, Kallus is already smiling as he fruitlessly tries to throw Zeb off of his body with his legs, but Zeb still has him pinned. "Zeb, let's stop and talk about this."

His husband just shakes his head mischievously as his claws finally reach Kallus’s ribcage. "Time for talking about this ended five minutes ago when you bit my ear, ni Sasha."

"Zeb, pl-" Kallus isn't even able to finish his final plea before Zeb mercilessly tickles his side, and Kallus unable to wiggle away from the touch as Zeb delightfully drags out every thrilled giggle and shrill laughter from his lungs.

I was wrong, my husband is so cruel to me-

Even though Kallus does have the power to stop Zeb if he wanted to, he doesn't. He enjoys how much the laughter causes his sides to ache to the point where it's almost painful. It is the best kind.
