Chapter Text
Danny was sitting in class, asleep, this is a habit his teachers usually get on to him for, but hey! You try staying up all night fighting Skulker. At the mention of the ghost, Danny’s ghost sense went off, causing him to jerk awake.
Danny blinked sleepily for a minute and looked around until he realized what happened and speedily brought his hand up in the air. Lancer let out a tiring sigh as if he knew what was about to happen, which considering how often it does happen, he probably did. “Yes Mr. Fenton?”
“May I go to the bathroom?” Danny was really hoping he wouldn’t say no. But even if Lancer did, he would probably just walk out. Mr. Lancer let out another sigh before giving a wave of his hand in the direction of the door and saying “Go ahead”.
Danny dashed through the door and found a safe place to transform, he stopped shouting “Going ghost” after Sam pointed out how loud it was and how it was a risk to his identity. He ran to where his ghost sense led him only to find a ghost with green skin, pointy ears, a leather jacket with pins, a crop top, and some jeans with a black belt. She looked to be from the 90’s, maybe 17 or 18 years old. However her most noticeable feature would be her hair, which floated up and faded into different shades of mainly purple and blues. Little chunks misted off, they kind of looked like little portals. She looked like she had some grecian descent, she had a high nose bridge, a big forehead, and a roundish jaw. She was pretty but held herself anxiously, like a single noise would startle her. Danny had seen her before, but she never caused trouble so he let her stay most of the time.
Danny didn’t know if it was stupidity or curiosity that drove him to do what he did next, but he decided to go up and see what she was doing, maybe start a conversation or make a new alliance? Apparently that was the wrong thing to do though. “Hey-” Danny started but was promptly cut off by a startled noise and a purplish blue portal coming at him, which explained the hair. And before he knew it he was landing face first into dirt and grass, not the best landing but whatever, he’ll walk it off. Danny got up to see where he was unfortunately there wasn’t much indication. All He saw were pine trees. Danny started walking forward, his mom used to always tell him that if he got lost he should stay where he was, however Danny didn’t think that would be much help right now. He saw a path and walked to it. That might be useful He thought. Oh a sign! The sign read mystery shack, sounded like a scam but it was probably good for directions, so he started making his way to the most likely tourist trap.

Today was a slow day, hardly any customers and no mysteries to solve. Wendy was flipping through her magazine while Mabel was spinning on the globe next to her. Soos was off doing handiwork, Ford was doing work in his lab, Stan was counting money, and Dipper was clicking his pen in frustration over a puzzle. Right before Dipper could finish his puzzle, a boy walked in. He was probably around the age of 15 or 16, definitely a high schooler. Maybe one of Wendy's friends? No Dipper’s never seen him before so it can’t be that. Right?
Ugh looks like Mabel’s already developing a crush. I swear she can’t go a week without having someone to obsess over. Dipper shot Mabel an annoyed look, which she most likely didn’t get since she was too busy staring at the older boy. Speaking of the older boy, he seemed a little confused. He wasn’t at all interested in the merch, which is fair since they’re scams anyway, something about him was odd though. Dipper squinted his eyes at him in thought while he made his way up to the register.
“Uh hey, This is probably a weird question, but uh where am I? I know that's a crazy question, but I swear I have a reason.. My family was driving here, but my dad is kinda a goof so he wasn’t paying attention to the signs and so now we’re lost! Haha…” Ah that would explain the confused look, The new presence caused wendy to look up “Hah don’t worry about it Dude! My dad’s more brawn than smarts so I get that, he keeps accidentally tearing holes in the house.” Wendy explained “You're in Gravity Falls, Oregon!” The stranger sputtered a little indignantly at that “W-What! That’s so far…” At that Mabel decided to butt in “You could stay here a bit! There’s a motel down near the town.” She said that a little too hopefully. “I guess I might have too…” The stranger seemed to mutter that more to themselves than to Mabel. “Great! Since you’ll be staying here you should probably get to know people, I’m Mabel, that’s my dorky brother Dipper, and this is Wendy” Mabel said with a huge smile “oh uh I’m Danny, nice to meet you” Danny said with an awkward wave.
Before Anyone could reply Ford busted in “It’s doing something!” Dipper ran over “What?” Grunkle Ford was always doing cool stuff, it would never not bring Dipper running over. “My new invention! It’s made to detect ghosts, I’ve only had a few encounters but I’d love to learn more about them!” Danny stiffened slightly but it went unnoticed, that is, it went unnoticed until Ford stopped in front of him, with his device blinking rapidly “Huh that’s weird… wonder why it went off around me?” Danny tried to play it off with a shrug, it didn’t look like it was working, which was honestly more of a reason for Danny to want to leave. “So uh… Where did you say that motel was?” Danny turned to Mabel, who looked annoyingly happy about all of this “Down by the town, Oh before you go you should have our number. We could show you around!” Mabel handed Danny the card and waved while he left.
