Watching Raichi eat was like watching a small child. He picked through his noodles, pulling out the vegetables and sitting them on the side. He poked at every bit of meat he came across, making sure it wasn’t too fatty or tough to be eaten. He really only ate the noodles, slurping them up and ignoring the rest of his meal in favor of something texturally and flavourly safe.By the time he had gotten halfway through his meal, Kunigami was already finished, his plate all but licked clean.
He wasn’t hungry anymore by any means, but he hated the idea of his teammate wasting food just because he was too picky to eat it. Reaching out with his chopsticks, he tried to snag a piece of cabbage that was hanging over the edge of his plate. Raichi shouted, jabbing at Kunigami’s hand with his own chopsticks before pulling his plate close to him, setting up his arm as a barrier surrounding the plate.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Raichi snapped, scooping up a bunch of noodles and shoving them in his mouth.
“You should really eat that,” Kunigami said, ignoring Raichi’s question. “You’re missing out on a bunch of important vitamins by not eating your veggies.”
“And why the hell should you care? If you fucking forgot, we are in a competition right now, jack ass,” Raichi jabbed at him again with his chopsticks, speaking with a full mouth before turning as far as he possibly could from him, holding his plate on his knees while he scooped the rest of his food into his mouth.
“You have worse table manners than Gagamaru sometimes,” Kunigami remarked, pushing an unused napkin towards Raichi. The other boy glared at him, snatching up the napkin to wipe off the sauce that was coating his chin. Balling up the napkin, he tossed it at Kunigami’s head.
Kunigami quickly dodged, grabbing his own dirty napkin off his place and throwing it back at Raichi. Raichi slammed his plate down on the table, grabbing the napkin that had just bonked him in the ear.
“Fuck you, man!” Raichi shouted, throwing the napkin at Kunigami with as much force as you could muster for a napkin. Kunigami simply laughed as it bounced lightly off his chest, tumbling back down onto the empty plate in front of him.
“Weak,” Kunigami remarked, dusting off the front of his shirt of his dinner crumbs. Raichi swiped at the napkin again, missing just barely as Kunigami moved the empty plate out of his reach. “And slow too. Dude, what's wrong with you tonight? Must be because you didn’t eat your vegetables.”
“Fuck, just take ‘em already!” Raichi snarled, grabbing Kunigami’s plate from his hands and shoving all of the picked over vegetables and bits of meat from his own meal onto it. He quickly shoveled the last heap of noodles into his mouth, standing from the table and stomping away to the plate return, cursing all the way about how fucking stupid and annoying and greedy Kunigami could be.
Kunigami just grinned, picking up his chopsticks once again to pick up the piece of cabbage Raichi had originally snapped away from him. As Raichi stormed out of the dining hall, he shot Kunigami a two handed middle finger salute while Kunigami waved back, a teasing grin on his face.
“Thanks for the meal, Raichi!” Kunigami called after his retreating back, infinitely pleased with himself, and the fact that no food would go to waste that night.
