Work Text:
Gideon kicked piled up snow out of his path as more billowed up ahead and around him. The cold scarcely makes any sort of contact with his skin, wherein it diminishes into nothingness against his warm skin, leaving him unhindered by the biting cold.
However, despite his warm body temperature Gideon is not immune to illness caused by Snow and the cold, but he’ll be fine as long as he doesn’t get wet.
Gideon looked back at the Party he had been traversing with for a short while now. They’re shivering and clutching any sort of warmth they can manage, but the tiefling seemed to take it the worst, His normal Red skin a pale pink coloration, his lips a scary blue contrast against the reddish color of his skin; he swayed with every step.
Gideon could see the tiredness seeping into his every move. The Lizardfolk (He reminded Gideon Of Kremy a little.) was clutching the lantern to his chest as he asked through quivering lips; “S-Shepherd, How do you F-Fare?”
The tiefling probably answered but Gideon couldn’t tell from the wind whipping in his ears.
Gideon turns back to look ahead at the seemingly endlessly snowing tundra. His breath billowed from his mouth in steam, snow clinging desperately to his beard.
Suddenly, Clayton let out a concerned yell, “Shepherd!” Gideon flipped around quickly to see Shepherd lying motionless on the frozen water; unresponsive.
“H-He’s u-unconscious from h-hypothermia,” The Lizardfolk said, monotone from where he stood, Gideon takes it back, the lizardfolk doesn’t remind him of Kremy.
Gideon marched forward causing them to raise their heads to look in his direction as he walked past them to The unconscious cowboy.
Picking him up bridal style he held him close to his chest; suddenly concerned for the smaller man. “Take a nap. Everyone will be fine when you wake up.” As he began walking again, Gideon smiled slightly at the other curling up to his chest. It was kind of cute.
There was a large tree that would provide coverage from the snow and Gideon sat against it, leaning Shepherd against his chest. A few feet away, the rest stood; shivering a concerning amount, possibly on the brink of passing out from Hypothermia themselves.
With a sigh, Gideon beckoned them closer with a raised eyebrow. “You comin’ or not? You’ll pass out if you don’t warm up soon.”
That seemed to get their legs working again as they rushed over, Clayton curled to his left, Victoria to his right, and Kana across victoria laying half on shepherd.
They were out like lights, their breaths the only noise accompanying Gideon as he stared out at the snowy tundra ahead.
Dawn crept up from behind the hills in the distance, shedding light on the snowy tundra. Gideon blinked, his eyes heavy from a night of little to no sleep.
A grumble was heard on top of him and Gideon glanced down at the stirring form of Shepherd before closing his eyes and leaning his head against the tree trunk. Gideon felt Shepherd Shift, and opened his eyes to look down at him, unnoticed.
“So you’re finally wakin’ up? How was your nap?” he chuckled, causing the shorter to flinch and look up immediately.
“Relax, you’re so jumpy.” Gideon said, soothingly. The other squints at him and slowly leans back onto Gideon’s chest, quickly falling asleep, his breaths the only noise coming from the now asleep tiefling.
Goodnight, little man.
