Work Text:
When Josie told Isabel she could borrow her hoodie she expected her just to wear it privately. Like whenever they were hanging out at each other's houses, or cuddling on the couch, or maybe when they were doing movie night with the other girls from the fight club. She definitely did not anticipate walking into Mr. G’s class and seeing her girlfriend proudly standing near the front of the class talking to Brittany while wearing that hoodie. But that’s exactly what she was staring at right now. She felt like she was in a trance as she couldn’t help but scan Isabel up and down with admiration. It may not have been nearly as revealing as other clothes the girl had worn but it was far more attractive to Josie.
“Josie… Josie… Josie,” PJ practically yelled, finally snapping Josie out of it.
“Huh… what?”
“You’ve just been standing in the doorway for like a full minute. What the hells the matter?”
“Nothing, I’m just so excited for class I was caught up thinking about all the historical stuff we’re about to learn about.”
PJ raises her eyebrows in doubt, “You’re excited for this class? The class where the teacher spends more time flipping through porn than teaching? Seriously?”
Josie shrugged, “Yeah, I mean Mr. G’s alternative teaching style really opens up lots of opportunities for creative learning.”
PJ noticed her friend's stare and quickly began tracking her gaze, directly to Isabel. She didn’t understand what the big deal was.
“Ok, so Isabel’s wearing a hoodie. So what?” She looked at it a second longer. “Wait don’t you have that same hoodie?” Finally the full realization hit her and she quickly turned her head back to Josie. “Holy fucking shit that’s your hoodie.”
Josie nodded, “Yeah, and she’s actually wearing it to school.”
“Damn Josie. Despite the fact that you two have literally had sex this is somehow more intimate.”
“Hence my reaction.”
PJ sighed, “Listen you don’t need to be nervous. She probably just wanted to feel comfortable for once. She never wore anything of Jeffs so you should feel good about that.”
“Well yeah her options were pretty limited in that regard. He only wears one outfit.”
“Not the point. Just go talk to her. And be cool.”
“Okay… I’m going in.”
Josie slowly walked forward towards her girlfriend. She was bizarrely being reminded of the night at the carnival. Just the feeling of being nervous by seeing Isabel brought her back to that. Isabel finally spotted her and smiled before walking over.
“Hey babe,” she said, wrapping her arms around Josie’s neck.
“Hey, I uh… like the clothes… that you are wearing… on your body… right now.” It was quite possibly the most awkward statement ever said by anybody ever.
Isabel laughed playfully before replying, “Thanks. I really wanted to show off today.”
“Show off what? I thought your Mom said this hid your figure?”
“I’m not trying to show off my body, I’m showing off you?” Josie looked at her confused so she elaborated. “I want everybody to see me in this and think damn that girl must have the most incredible, beautiful, and thoughtful girlfriend.”
“So you’re not like, embarrassed?”
Isabel smirked, “Josie we practically made out on the football field in front of the entire school.”
“Well yeah but this is a hoodie. It’s like a really big deal.”
“Babe,” she pecked Josie’s lips, “There is literally nothing I’d rather be wearing right now okay. I'm never gonna be embarrassed by you.” She gave Josie another quick peck before heading back to her seat next to Brittany.
Josie made her way to her seat next to PJ still feeling a slight sense of giddiness. After class she packed up her things and once again her girlfriend approached her.
“Walk me to lunch?”
“Yeah of course,” Josie replied.
They walked down the hall practically shoulder to shoulder. Josie couldn’t decide whether or not to go for a hand hold but her decision was made for her when Isabel reached down and intertwined their fingers. As they walked Isabel began to speak.
“You know it’s not fair that I’m borrowing this and you don’t have anything of mine.”
“I mean no offense but the outfits you wear are super hot on you but they probably aren’t really my thing.”
“Well that’s why I had something else in mine.”
She pulled Josie off to the side of the hall before reaching up to her head and taking out one of the clips she had in her hair. It was a simple hair clip in shape but it had green rhinestones on it. Isabel smiled as she gently clipped it onto her girlfriend's hair.
“I know it isn’t much but at least now I get to stand and stare at you wearing something of mine too.”
“Oh you uh, noticed that?”
“Babe you were literally standing in the doorway for like a full minute.”
“Touché.”
Isabel smirked and once again took hold of Josie’s hand before they continued down the hall. Josie had to admit the hair clip, well simple, did weirdly make her feel more confident. As they walked she leaned over to Isabel.
“Now I’m the one showing off my incredible, beautiful, and thoughtful girlfriend.”
“Well damn that girlfriend must be pretty lucky,” Isabel joked.
“She is. But not nearly as lucky as I am.”
The two girls continued toward the cafeteria both feeling extremely fortunate to have someone so perfect to show off.
