He isnt sure if it's the change in weather, especially because Paris was so warm compared to England, or if he ate something dodgy when they had a pit stop, but Nick has feeling very weird since he got home the night before.
He mentioned it to Charlie, who had walked home with him and he gave him that sweet concerned look he always does whenever Nick says he doesn't feel right "maybe you need some more sleep? You slept most of the way home" he says as they reach Nick's house, he made a quiet noise of agreement before he gave char a soft kiss and headed inside.
His mum noticed that he was slightly off colour the moment she looked at him, so helped him take his bags upstairs and sat on his bed, listening as he told her all of his adventures, a fond smile on her face the entire time. Once he'd run out of things to talk about, or maybe he drifted off at some point, she'd kissed his forehead and pulled the covers up over his shoulders so he didn't catch the slight chill in the room.
This morning though, his stomach is in knots. He hasn't moved from where he's layed on his side, other than to have a few sips of the water his mum brought in. He falls asleep like that and only wakes up several hours later when something lands beside him, startling him enough that he comes out from under his cocoon.
He smiles slightly when he sees Nellie making herself comfortable beside him. He repositions himself so that he's able to pull his arms out and pull her closer, before curling up around her, something he's done whenever hes sick since she was a puppy. She responds by licking his nose, making him huff in amusement as she tries to fight her way under the covers.
She quickly wins, and dispite feeling so weird, it cheers him up as she rests her head on his shoulder and snuggles in properly against his side. He can't tell if she knows that hes sick or not, but she doesn't leave his side for the rest of the day as he sleeps in fits and bursts.
When his mum comes to check on him, shes met with the adorable sight of him, fast asleep curled up around Nellie, who in turn is fast asleep curled up the best as she can on him.
Nellie doesn't leave his side until he's up and about 2 days later and even then she still sticks close to him, happily padding along beside him no matter where he's going or sleeping in his lap while Nick and Sarah watch films together, something that gets her lots of belly rubs and hugs.
