Chapter Text
Marin is actually Marinette
Marin walked around the balcony where her flowers grew, wondering how tomorrow would go since her current day didn’t go so great. What else was she supposed to do when a customer tried touching her. Her parents had very specific rules for her when she was outside of her room. Rules that she hated but had no choice in the matter. Unfortunately, Marin isn’t her real name, just a variation of it that she has to go by every day. Her real name is Marinette and she was so beautiful as a baby that her parents agreed that she would no longer be a girl. So, every day she woke up early to get ready for the day, this included her having to put on her chest binder so that she could then be Marin for the day.
Marin had very short hair and wore shoes, jeans and 2 shirts. An undershirt to make sure no one would be able to see the binder and then his normal navy-blue shirt with a graphic on the front. As much as he wanted too, he could not grow his hair out per the rules. His days consisted of getting ready for school, going to school, going home and helping run the bakery for the afternoon rush. When everything was done for the day, he was finally able to go to his bedroom and take that stupid binder off. Releasing himself to be a girl for just a bit before having to do it all over again the next day.
“Dude! Good morning! Did you see the new update for MS3? It’s absolutely sick!” Nino stood at the entrance to the school as Marin made his way up the steps. As usual Nino was waiting for the rest of the group to arrive before heading to class. Marin and Nino had been friends for a few good years, so it was easy to talk with him.
“Yeah! I got the update going before working in the bakery yesterday and played it some before I fell asleep! I love they made the graphics much better now; it makes the characters look amazing!” Marin said as he took a spot sitting on the ledge near Nino.
Just a few moments later Alya walked across the street and Adrien showed up in her car. Adriens driver, Gorilla, waved to the group of friends and drove off as Adrien started walking with Ayla up the stairs.
“Hey peeps! Did you see my newest video on The Ladyblog from the Akuma fight last night?” Alya asked with a wide grin.
“Oh yeah babe. I watched it. But didn’t we discuss you not going out at night during the fights just to get footage.” Nino scolded her.
“Erm, I seem to remember a conversation about that very topic but some…. one….. might have kissed me afterwards and I just do not seem to remember what exactly was said.” Alya gave Nino a look and he immediately shrank. Everyone laughed at the reaction Nino had and he ended up joining in too.
Shaking off his bit of embarrassment, Nino looked at Adrien and tried to salvage the previous conversation. “Hey Adrien, dude… what did you think of the new update on MS3?”
“Oh yeah, I have the update going right now. Between my afternoon lessons, I was exhausted when I finally got home and forgot it was finally out. I’m hoping everything looks good with it! I’ll try to move through todays lessons and get home early to check it out!” Adrien spoke with hope that he could actually do so and maybe also prayed that another akuma didn’t show up. His truth was that he actually got the update done last night but right before he could login an akuma alert rang and he had a hard time fighting it with Ladybug. After around 3 hours of fighting, they finally got the butterfly purified and when he made it home, he was so tired he just passed right out.
The group grumbled some words in unison most likely about Adriens father and all the lessons he has him going to.
“A… Adr…..Adrien. When will y… y….your father let up o… o…on all the lessons?” Marin asked, trying not to blush at talking with Adrien. He was Marin right now and not Marinette. He glanced quickly towards Alya to see her eyes looking very mischievous and nodded his head just slightly side to side. Indicating that whatever Alya was thinking, he didn’t want any part of it. Thankfully Alya knew better than to get into it with Marin while at school or in front of anyone for that matter. People might get the wrong ideas about them with Marin being a boy to anyone but Alya and his parents.
“Oh… umm. He told me when I turn 18, I will have more free time to do what I decide. I’m hoping that happens, but until then I’m stuck with them all.” Adrien said in a quieter tone. He always seemed to not want to talk about that subject but no one in the group knew if that was because of the lessons or his father. Marin had only known Adrien for about 4 months. He was new to the school after being homeschooled so far, but his father controlled that too saying if he messed up in any way that he would be homeschooled again. The group all gave Adrien a small smile.
(RING……. RING…...RING………) The warning bell rang.
“Guess it’s time for us to scat to class!” Alya said while grabbing Ninos arm and dragging him with her.
“Lets go my dudes!” Nino yelled behind as he started to catch up to Alyas walking pace.
Adrien turned to Marin. “Guess we need to head that way too!”
“Yes… right!” Was all Marin could get out in her nervousness.
Classes went by, the group ate lunch together in the yard under a tree as usual and the end of the school day came fast after that. The bell rang for the end of school and the group found each other again to converse with before heading home.
“How were your classes today? Oh, what’s everyones plans today?” Nino asked.
“I’ll be off to todays lessons in hopes of making it to play MS3. On that note, Gorilla is already here and if I want to even try to play tonight, I need to get going. Later!” Adrien said.
“See ya!” the 3 said in unison.
“Marin, what plans for you?” Nino turned and asked looking straight at him.
“Umm, I’ve got to get home and help in the bakery as usual but hope to play some more MS3 tonight too!”
“Sweet dude! Maybe we can all get on discord too and play it together! Alya, what’s your plans babe?” Nino turned to her now.
“I’ll be watching the gremlins for a short bit before just chilling and hoping another akuma attacks so I can (not) get more footage….” Alya changed part of her sentence remembering what Nino had mentioned that morning. ‘Oops’ She thought and giggled just a bit.
“Not cool dudette, not cool at all.” Nino said with a glare.
Alya glanced towards Marin with a silent question in her eyes and Marin slightly nodded her head up and down.
“Well, I’ll see you both tomorrow then! Bye guys!” Marin said as he left down the steps and headed to his home.
“Sometimes I don’t get those two. Like who makes a teenager do so many lessons or another do actual work after school? I’m not sure I could do without my time messing with the tunes and making my songs.” Nino looked to Alya to see what she had to say on the matter.
“Well, I can’t speak for Adrien, but I know Marin enjoys helping a good bit with the afternoon rush. Pluss, he does get paid and saves as much of the money he can for the future he wants.”
“I guess I can get that a bit. Well, I’m sure you need to get to watching the twins, right?” Nino asked.
“Yep, sure do! See you later boo-thang!” She gave him a kiss on the cheek and rushed off.
“Yeah, see you!” He called out and left for his own house.
