Work Text:

It was a rainy night, raindrops gracefuly falling on Kaveh's window, slow wind was making the branches of dead trees embrace one another, and stray cats were running to find a place in which to sit waiting for this awful weather to go.

Kaveh was resting his forehead on the window while sitting in his bed, lost in thoughts. He turned his vision to his table which was light up poorly by an almost dead flame, and all his blueprints scattered all over his desk. Oh but why did his projects fail all the time? He never really even made money out of them! Kaveh always felt like he was never good enough and that started back when he was a small kid and his father has died, which caused Kaveh's mother to distance herself from her only kid.

Why did Alhaitam even let him live in his house? He wasn't paying his rent, and when he did it was so late that it's as if he never actually did pay it. But Kaveh didn't know that his roommate wasn't actually mad for that, he was never mad at the blonde never paying his rent. If Kaveh wanted to understand that, he would think that Alhaitam was letting the architect sit in that house out of pity.

The blonde started to silently cry while looking outside his window hugging a pillow when his door cracked open,

"Kaveh?"

The architect flinched as his gaze quickly turned to the door, where Alhaitam was sitting. The Scribe took a few steps in front and closed the door behind him, as his eyes now turned to the messy desk filled with blueprints, pages, drawings, pens, pencils, all you could imagine.

"Hm?" Was all that Kaveh could get out as he tried evening his breath out.

"Did anything happen?" Everyone thinks that Alhaitam is intimidating and careless all the time, when he just hates being disturbed, tho he doesn't mind if the architect 'distrubs' him at anytime of the day or night.

Kaveh didn't know what to do, what to say and so he just turned his gaze back to the window and raised his hand to cover his mouth.

Alhaitam slowly approached him, sat down on the bed next to the blonde haired man and looked on the window into the distance. A few moments later, the Scribe raised his hand and put it over Kaveh's shoulder while with the other he picked up a blanket and put it over the two of them.

"Why did you come here?" Kaveh asked as he chocked on a sob and tears started to roll down on his face.

"You don't look too good. Did anything happen? Perhaps, a nightmare?" Oh but the architect was in love with such a man..

"Mmm.. mhm" Alhaitam knew that Kaveh was lying.

"Tell me, did someone use your blueprint and not pay you? Did you fail any blueprint?" The gray haired male was never so.. talkative, usually he was a cold shoulder.

Kaveh sighed and exclamed "I know you want me to move as soon as possible out of your home," he got up from the bed and went over to his desk over which he leaned and hopelessy looked, tears running down his face, "just none of these worked out yet! What a failure... I AM!" He left another sigh out and took in hand a piece of paper which he found beneath probably 15 blueprints. "..i.. i'll pay my rent t-then.. i'll let you live alone! Promise!" He threw his hands in the air, looked down again and held his forehead with his hand. He still had tears flooding down, now in his projects but he didn't care.

Alhaitam was expecting something like this.

"Archons, who told you i want you to move out of my house? If i cared that much about you paying me rent you would've been out of my house for a long time." The scribe said as he got up from the place he sat in, now crossing his arms over his chest.

"Huh?" Kaveh raised his head to glance at Alhaitam, probably waiting for him to pull a prank.

Alhaitam raised a brow, "Do I need to repeat my words?"

"You aren't... joking???''

"No."

"Oh."

"Is rent the only thing that made you think I'd ask you to move out for?" Asked Alhaitam as he started to wander slowly around the room.

"Umm...not exactly, i, i mean yeah but.. don't you just want the house for your own and not have someone wander in it all day long???" Kaveh looked up to glance at Alhaitam, which was now looking at Mehrak, to see if it's up or not.

"I don't want to be alone. If i do want that, i can just put on my headphones." Alhaitam said firmly while leaning his back on a wall and looking directly at Kaveh, making him far more nervous, maybe even flustered a bit.

Kaveh's tears stopped, his face was still drenched after crying. He took a deep breath while fixating his eyes on Alhaitam, but broke the eye contact just few seconds later.

"I think we should sleep. It's very late." Stated Alhaitam while slowly approaching Kaveh.

Kaveh had his mind pretty much cluttered and a strong headache on top from all the tears he cried out and so he thought Alhaitam was gonna put the blonde in his bed, then The Scribe would go back into his room. Little did he know that Alhaitam meant sharing a bed for tonight. But,

"I think you're having a panick attack Kaveh. Is everything ok? Do you need anything? Or you'd like to go straight to sleep?"

Kaveh felt like the rain against the window way too loud, even Alhaitam's soft voice would make his ears hurt, and the candle in the corner sent chills up his spine. "It..it feels a little loud. And overwhelming."

In the next second, Alhaitam was a few inches away from the other man, and his arms around the architect's head, but everything was quieter. It was actually completly quiet. Alhaitam has put his noise cancelling headpiece on the blonde's head and ears, calming him down. Alhaitam has slowly and softly picked the other man's hand and guided him to sit in the bed, as he handed Kaveh a glass of water.

Kaveh was now less confused and felt much better. Alhaitam has adjusted the headpiece so that Kaveh could hear his voice,

"When you feel better we can go sleep in my room. Let me know."

Kaveh nodded softly and looked down at his arms, noticing how the Scribe went ahead and held one of his hands gently. Not much longer, Kaveh agreed that they should go and rest now.

The two men slowly walked to Alhaitam's room since he had a bigger and nicer bed where they could both peacefully sleep.

Kaveh's breath has now calmed down, and Alhaitam placed his head in the back of his architect's neck, brushing his nose against the other's man skin softly, while pressing a small kiss. Alhaitam was full aware of the fact Kaveh likes him just by the way he speaks and acts, but it would be a lie if it was said Alhaitam did not like the architect back.

Not long time after, Kaveh has turned to face the other man, curling up comfortably in Alhaitam's presence

Both men have fallen in a deep sleep, now in a chamber made out of dreams.

-------------------

Kaveh didn't remember much from last night due to crying a lot and catching an insufferable headache which did not help the poor man at all, so waking up with an an arm wrapped around his small waist was a little shock.

Alhaitam was already awoke, reading a book while hugging the other man, every now and then running a lazy hand through golden messy hair, "Well, good morning."

" 'Morning.'' Kaveh exclaimed in a very sleep tone as he yawned.

Silence fell upon them but it wasn't one that would make any of the two uncomfortable.

The sun's rays made it's graceful way through the smooth curtains, the burds outside were singing and playing together and the flowers were looking up to the big blue sky. The flowers that were in pots inside the house and the ones outside were blooming and shining just as much and as heavenly, making everything seem brighter and happier.

Alhaitam has put down his book, and now only focused on the blonde that was next to him, he focused on trying to make him comfortable, and feel safe. He kissed the other man's temple and then pulled him into a tighter embrance.
