Work Text:
It all started with a simple dinner. They just finished the main course when Persephone stood up and took hers and Grace's plate.
"Persephone, that was... Divine. Thank you." Grace thanked her girlfriend.
"My pleasure, love. Let me clean this up and I'll join you on the couch with dessert. Can you take my wine glass please?" Persephone asked.
"Of course." Grace simply replied before giving a quick peck on Persephone's lips and taking their glasses to the living room.
Persephone's place was huge and Grace loved living here. They sometimes went to Grace and Freddie's appartment but it wasn't often. This evening, after a week of concerts out of town, she only wanted to be with Persephone no matter where they were. Persephone suggested her place to let Freddie have some peace and she had promised to cook Grace dinner.
Grace accepted without a teary goodbye to her best friend and a "see you soon". They didn't have any concerts planed for the rest of the month but they knew they'd have to see each others for rehearsal in about 3 days and that's why Kaz & Brian made fun of them for tearing up which ended up cut short by Persephone's dark glare at them.
Grace loved Persephone's couch. It was so comfortable and it always reminded her of an amazing night they spent on it.
The taller woman quickly arrived with a big bowl of icecream, sliced strawberries, some whipped cream and two spoons.
"So, I learned something interesting this week following you around." Persephone announced as she sat on the couch, handing the bowl.
"Oh yeah? What?" Grace wondered, taking the bowl and rapidly took a spoonful of the dessert.
"Well, as we already know, Freddie's in love with you." Persephone started.
"What?" Grace asked, surprise.
"And you're also in love with her." Persephone continued, not replying to Grace.
This time, Grace was coughing her dessert at the information but it didn't stop Persephone.
"What I learned, however, is that Freddie is also into me." Persephone ended.
"What are you talking about?" Grace asked once her composure was back.
"I saw her! Usually, when I'm at my table watching the band, you're the only one mentally undressing me. But this week, Freddie did it as well. Which is pretty interesting because I really thought she only had eyes for you. And she kept trying to spend time with us and 'accidently' touch us." Persephone explained.
"I'm so confused!" Grace could only say.
"I liked it. I love when people look at me that way, mostly women to be honest. And I must admit, I actually really appreciate Freddie." Persephone continued.
"So, what? You're breaking up with me to date Freddie?" Grace asked with a small nervousness in her voice.
"Of course not! I love you Grace, I could never leave you. And like I said, you're both in love with each other!" Persephone reminded her.
"Pers' I'm so lost right now." Grace admitted.
"You're in love with me and with her. She's in love with you and is starting to be into me. I'm in love with you and Freddie's hot and kind." Persephone tried to explain but when Grace's face was still showing confusion, she continued.
"What I'm saying is, we should invite her on a date. Together. All three of us."
"I- wha... Are you sure?" Grace could only ask.
"Of course. She's fantastic and so are you. It's the twenty first century, why couldn't we have two girlfriends?" Persephone's question was obviously rethorical.
Grace didn't know what to say. She knew she was in love with Freddie, since highschool. But she always thought her feelings were reciprocated. Since she met Persephone, she was happy and in love but a part of her never stopped loving Freddie. Now, Persephone was suggesting that she could have them both? That would be a dream. Would Freddie want that? Is she really in love with Grace too? Would she like being with Persephone as well? She had so many questions but only Freddie could answer them.
It took Grace a couple of minutes of reflexion before she finally started speaking again.
"Yes."
"Yes, what?" Persephone asked.
"Yes, we can have two girlfriends. Why not? Like you said, it's the twenty first century and I'm in love with two women, who's gonna stop me?" Grace agreed.
Persephone only smiled and hugged her gilfriend.
"I'm so happy for us. I can't wait to talk to Freddie!" Persephone whispered before planting a sweet kiss on Grace lips who tasted like strawberries.
"Come on, let's finish desert and find an idea for this date."
"Why don't we just invite her for dinner?" Grace asked.
---
It all started with a simple dinner. Three women sharing laughs and stories. Persephone talked about her favorite moments during her favorite centuries. Grace and Freddie shared highschool and university memories.
The atmosphere was light and joyful but didn't stop Grace's stomach from twisting when Persephone stood up to get the empty plates.
"Persephone, let me help!" Freddie suggested.
"You're our guest and I think Grace might have a question for you. I'll be back before your answer, don't worry." Persephone explained and left for the kitchen.
"A question?" Freddie turned around to look at Grace, an eyebrow raised, questioningly.
"Hahaha yeah, I mean it's not much." Grace started, obviously nervous.
"If it's not much, why do you look like you're about to go audition for a musical on Broadway?" Freddie joked, hopefully relaxing the atmosphere but failing.
"Persephone said you might be in love with me." Grace announced.
Freddie stayed silent, finding her napkin very intersting suddenly, but kept listening since no question was yet asked.
"And I'm also in love with both of you. And she also said that she thinks you might also be into her and that she's also into you and wow too many 'also' in this-" Grace rambled.
Persephone came back right at this moment to save her, like her knight in burgundy armor but with a chocolate cake and a kitchen knife instead of a sword and shield.
"What Grace is saying is that we'd like tonight to be a date night not just dinner." Persephone explained which helped Grace to continue.
"Would you want to be with us? Like romantically" Grace finally asked.
Freddie's face lit up like a kid in a candyshop.
"Am I dreaming or are the two hottest women in the universe asking me to date them both at once?" Freddie asked with the biggest smile.
"If it was a dream, we'd probably be naked." Persephone joked.
"I mean, we could do that, but not now. Now, I want to kiss my girlfriends and have a slice of this tasty looking cake. Persephone your cakes are always the bests!" Freddie simply proclaimed.
All three women were smiling and both Freddie and Grace stood up face to face.
"I've been wanting to do that for so long." Freddie confessed, taking Grace's face in her hands and kissed her.
Kissing was complicated when both women couldn't stop smiling, so they quickly ended it.
Soon, Freddie turned to Persephone who got closer.
"I am the luckiest woman in the world" Freddie simply whispered before kissing Persephone.
A kiss a bit less gentle than the one she shared with Grace but definetly still full of kindness and love.
"Come on, let's eat some cake before Grace devours it on her own." Persephone announced, stopping the kiss when she saw Grace, in the corner of her eye, slicing the cake.
It all started with a simple dinner but it ended being so much more.

The end?
