Tori sat on her bed, the bottle of pills in her hand. Twenty was a safe guess, right? Five milligrams a piece times twenty was one hundred. It had to be enough. She had thought about this for so long. She was ready. She was ready.
The world faded to black...
And Tori saw. She saw what looked like a funeral. There was a picture of her there. Oh. So that's what happens. Tori saw Charlie and her parents and Olly. She saw Becky and Nick. She saw Michael. A grand total of seven.
Charlie wouldn't invite his friends, no matter how much they wanted to come. He didn't even really want Nick to come, but Nick loved Tori too. He deserved it. His friends didn't need to see him like this, all shut down and red and tired. God, only Nick and Tori had ever seen him like that. And now one of them is gone. How didn't he see how much she hurt? She was always there for him, how didn't he see how much help she needed? She knew the thoughts running through his head.
Nick was fond of Tori, loved her even. She was a great older sibling, the kind he wishes he had. Even if they're the same age, he still saw her as a kind of older sister. She thanks him for that.
Michael was by himself. He was sitting in the back of the church. A church, really? He had the whole pew to himself. He had on a black tee shirt, the matching Radiohead "girlfriend" and The Smiths "boyfriend" ones they had gotten made, and blue jeans. She appreciated that, she didn't want people to dress up at her funeral. He seemed fine, but Tori knew better. There were tears running down his face, his eyes red and puffy. He looked so goddamn mad. He said he wouldn't, he said he could never get mad at her. He had lied.
Becky was wearing a black dress and white flats, the ones that used to be Tori's. She was the most visibly distressed of anyone there. Tori had left their clique a while ago, the only person who actually wanted to come (or knew about it) was Rita, but she had a uni tour that her mom wouldn't let her miss. Tori was Becky's only real friend, the only she would tell everything to, go anywhere with. She would've followed Tori anywhere, to the ends of the earth. She thought Tori didn't feel the same way. How wrong she was.
Olly was confused. He hadn't seen his big sis in days. He sees her picture hanging up and Michael, oh yay, Michael! He wants to run over but his mom is holding his hand so, so tight. She's as blank as usual. Tori wanted to her mom to hug him. She didn't.
Tori was back. In her room, on her bed, as she left it. She was... fine? The pills were still in her hand. Her eyes focused on them. Had that changed anything, though?
