Ed was woken by the sound of yipping and claws scratching the ornate gold and silver sequinned stairs beside the bed followed by a very round and smelly Pomeranian licking his face. Wherever Izzy had been while he was missing it wasn’t somewhere clean and Stede had made the tentative suggestion that Izzy could do with a bath (and a diet), Izzy had responded by peeing on Stede’s favourite slippers something he’d discovered when getting up for work.
After taking Izzy to an urgent vet appointment (something Izzy hated and which Ed had treated him to a pup cup afterwards to make up for) and discovering that his boy was pregnant Ed was determined to treat Izzy like royalty until the pups were born and had been researching canine prenatal care.
Ed rolled over and scratched Izzy behind his ear, Stede had already left for work and Ed was enjoying having Izzy back in bed with him. He got up stretching and pulling on a purple t-shirt and black boxers before carrying Izzy to the kitchen for his gourmet organic raw food breakfast. Ed scrolled through his phone as he ate his toast and drank his coffee with vanilla syrup and whipped cream, he wanted to treat his baby after his traumatic ordeal and was searching for a groomer who would give Izzy the pampering he deserved.
Getting Izzy into his mermaid carrier was more challenging than it had been a few weeks ago, Izzy was far rounder than he had been and now resembled a furry beach ball with legs and a tail but Izzy hated normal pet carriers (as Stede had discovered the only time he’d suggested putting Izzy in one to the detriment of his hand-stitched Italian leather boots) and taking the stroller on the bus tended to annoy people with human children.
Ed checked that he had Stede’s credit card before putting his hair in a quick braid and leaving the house, Izzy snuggled against his chest happy to be close to Ed, the lavish lifestyle suited the pampered Pomeranian but the downside was that Stede came with the money, at least the useless twat now understand that Ed and Izzy were a pair and were not to be separated. Ed scratched Izzy’s ears as they sat on the bus feeling his dog soften contently in his arms, ‘We’re going to have a spa day Iz’ he told the small furry bundle ‘Just you and me, a boy day’ Izzy wagged his tail happily.
Ed arrived at the shop and opened the door, Izzy sniffed the air curiously it was an interesting mix of scents mingled in the air, shampoo, expensive oils, warm towels, fruit and alcohol. ‘We’ve got an appointment at 11’ Ed told the girl at the reception desk ‘Izzy and Ed, full spa treatment for him mani-pedi and facial for me, I called this morning’ Ed explained.
Ed had booked a full pampering session for Izzy, not just the much-needed bath and flea treatment but also a conditioning coat treatment, manicure and pregnancy massage, Ed had also arranged for himself to have a manicure, pedicure and facial having found possibly the only dog groomers to also cater to humans.
Ed hovered anxiously while Izzy was bathed first with a medicated flea shampoo. Then an expensive lavender moisturising shampoo and conditioner, Izzy looked far smaller sitting in a baby bathtub within the large grooming tub with his wet fur. After Izzy had been blow-dried and brushed he was placed on a small padded table next to the chair Ed was sitting in, a groomer and nail technician painted human and canine nails and claws in a matching shade of purple before Ed was given a pore cleansing facial and a canine masseuse gave Izzy a pregnancy safe massage.
Ed sipped champagne as he was given a hand massage while Izzy was hand-fed dried organic rabbit meat and Yak cheese, both felt thoroughly relaxed as they left, Ed had also purchased a new velvet bed for Izzy to sleep in (all paid for with Stede’s credit card). Izzy slept in his mermaid carrier as they took an Uber home, Ed stroked his dog as they made their way home, he was happy to have his baby back and was looking forward to the puppies arriving.
