“Huntsman?” Sandy asked quietly, walking into the kitchen in his pink pajamas and sleepily checking the time. At a quarter past two in the morning, various cracks and noises began to come from his kitchen.
“I didn't want to wake you up.” the spider demon replied immediately, to which Sandy, with a gentle smile, moved in the direction from which he heard his partner's voice.
"That's okay. Tea?” suggested the blue giant, whose eyes had finally adjusted to the darkness enough to not accidentally hit himself.
The spider muttered something incomprehensible, to which Sandy poured water into the kettle and put it on the stove, waiting for the water to boil and started preparing cups and tea. For himself, he pulled out a blue ceramic mug on which Mk had painted several of his cats, including Mo, in various poses for him. The giant smiled at the sight of the gift, which he also received with a card, 'happy birthday to the best uncle', which made him cry with happiness at the sight of it. After this event, he had to reassure the boy that the gift was perfect and he liked it and these were tears of joy. For the spider, he held out a black mug with neon writing on it, which Huntsman seemed to love for some reason, though maybe it was because all the other mugs were, in the opinion of said demon, too cute. When the kettle started whistling, the blue giant poured boiling water over the prepared mixture and sat down on the floor next to the demon, placing a cup in front of him. The spider gratefully accepted the drink, smelling its scent and warming his hands against the cup.
"Chamomile?" the purple demon asked quietly.
“With lavender. To relax and calm you down.” Sandy explained calmly, hearing one of his numerous cats enter the kitchen and soon found himself in the spider's lap, who unconsciously began to pet him.
Sandy waited for the Huntsmen to speak, but the spider seemed to be in a completely different world. The blue-skinned man decided to wait patiently until they drank their tea and only then, if his partner did not open up, start the topic gently. He had known the demon for a long time, and the fact that their friendship turned into a relationship was only due to his endless optimism and patience, because even when Huntsman already knew about his feelings and gave the impression that he reciprocated them, he still hesitated. Sandy gave them time and after a while Huntsmen himself came to him to talk about 'them'. The spider later admitted that he would never have made that move if the giant had acted differently, but it wasn't in his nature, at least not since he had started working on himself many years earlier. Sandy, seeing the spider demon's stubbornness and confusion, allowed him to completely dictate the pace of their relationship, and the Huntsman was more than happy with that.
There were still moments when, instead of talking, the spider chose to try to provoke his partner, trying to get him to fight, but since the incident with the flower that LBD had sent him to get, he had never been successful. Sandy knew that Huntsman didn't really mean anything bad, he was just having a bad day. The spider always disappeared for a while, only to return with some rare plant or a mixture of unpopular herbs, which the friendly giant could then make into a tea, even though the giant repeatedly said it wasn't necessary. Sandy, however, could not change this behavior, fueled by the spider demon's sense of guilt, so he simply waited, giving the other room and time to release his emotions, only offering his company after a while.
The same now, the blue demon calmly sipped his tea, allowing his partner to open up at his own pace, without rushing, showing that no matter what happened, he would be there. Syntax, whom Sandy had encountered on friendlier terms than on the battlefield, continued to express deep shock that the giant was able to withstand the hot-headed and stubborn Huntsman. During the same meeting, the Queen vowed bloody punishment if the blue giant ever harmed her subordinate, to which Sandy complied with a smile while his partner died of embarrassment in the background. Goliath also cared more about his friend than about the appearance of their unusual relationship.
The spider pack still responded much better than the blue giant's friends. When Mk's team found out that the demons had survived everything that Lady Bone Demon had done to them, they panicked, not even paying attention to Sandy, who was trying to tell them about his relationship. Instead, Mk began planning how to defeat Spider Queen this time before she tries to take over again. There's no telling how long the team would have been tossing around ideas if Huntsman, whom the blue demon had invited there, hadn't shown up. Suddenly, everyone's eyes were fixed on their former enemy and they attacked in sync only to come face to face with an angry Sandy. The giant first made sure that everything was okay with his partner, and only then, reassured, he turned to his friends and told them that they were a couple. Once the initial shock wore off and Tang wake up from fainting, a marathon of awkward questions began. Fortunately, the couple survived this task and their relationship took another step forward.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Sandy asked as the tea disappeared from both cups and the spider moved closer.
“I had a... bad dream.” Huntsman confessed quietly.
“I stand by the question.” the giant informed, playing with his partner's braid.
"I know. It's just pathetic." the spider sighed.
“Talking about feelings is not pathetic. Want to organize your thoughts? Because if you want I can wait.” added the blue demon.
“Does your patience have any limits? That was a rhetorical question." Hantsman said, seeing that Sandy was getting ready to answer, to which he laughed pleasantly and the spider sighed with a slight smile, shaking his head. “I dreamed about the moment of my death, or rather what the Mayor did to us.”
"I see." Sandy commented, nodding.
“The worst moment was the return. I couldn't find anyone, neither Queen nor Goliath nor Syntax. As if only I came back. Then there were voices saying that I had let them down and that it was my fault. I know neither of them thinks so, but sometimes I feel like if I had decided to go with you during our fight, it wouldn't have happened, or if I had started questioning LBD's intentions earlier.” Huntsman explained tiredly.
“First of all you had no i affect on it, and secondly, do you think anyone from your colony would be able to trust me, Mk and the rest then? Even I don't have that ability to convince people. You couldn't have known it would end badly, because how could you? Huntsman, you trusted the wrong person because you had hope and she was strong and smart enough to turn it against you.” replied Sandy.
“Maybe if I had done something differently…” the spider started again, but Sandy interrupted him.
"Unfortunately this did not happen. There is no point in mourning the past because we cannot change it. What is happening here and now is the most important, and I am very happy with what is happening now.” Sandy said, placing a kiss on the top of the demon's head.
“You're disgustingly sentimental.” the spider moaned, but without venom or aggression.
“You love me for this. And I love you too.” replied the happy giant.
“Yhym.” the embarrassed spider said, unable to answer that, still having trouble saying it out loud.
“Hey, don't be nervous.” Sandy smiled.
“It's your patience and calmness, that I love you too.” the demon purred as Sandy happily pulled him closer to him, hugging him while sitting on the kitchen floor of his boat at four in the morning.
