Sanji is currently far beyond the criteria that normally qualifies someone as a nervous wreck. Currently he is pacing the deck of the Thousand Sunny with so much determination and ferocity that the soles of his feet and black leather shoes are nearly set ablaze like they do with Black Leg Sanji’s signature moves. He continues to pace despite the discomfort.
“Bro, will you give it a rest?” comes Franky’s voice from the helm. “You’re going to wear a hold in the Sunny’s deck!” the cyborg cautions, causing Usopp to nod along in agreement.
“We all know that you’re worried about Nami,” Brook admits, offering Sanji a mug of tea as the cook’s hands struggle to light his umpteenth cigarette.
“However, you should realize that Chopper and Law are brilliant doctors and will do everything in their power to take excellent care of Nami,” Jinbei offers some reassurance, resting one of his large, webbed hands on Sanji’s shoulder, effectively forcing the cook to stand still longer than two seconds.
“Besides,” comes Zoro’s voice as he comes into view, his biceps curling as he lifts weights. “Women have been doing this for thousands of years. I’m sure Nami is strong enough to handle everything. She’s quite tough if you haven’t noticed,” the swordsman nonchalantly remarks.
“Oh, yeah? And when did you get to be oh so wise, marimo?!?” Sanji snaps.
“I asked Robin some questions where I’d know for when it’s our turn.”
After a painstakingly long time, Nami exits the medical room, Chopper and Robin flanking either side with Law trailing behind her.
“Nami-swan!” Sanji shouts, running up to embrace his heavily pregnant wife. “What happened?!? Are you---? Is the baby---?” he questions, his mind rushing.
“I’m fine, Sanji! Really. I’m sorry I scared you by thinking I was going into labor,” Nami blushes, kissing her husband’s lips.
“She just had Braxton Hicks contractions,” Chopper begins to explain.
“They’re not strong enough for real labor, but it does mean her body is preparing for birth,” Law adds.
It takes a well-placed, firm shove to the chest from Zoro to keep Sanji from falling onto his face on the deck of the Thousand Sunny from shock that his and Nami’s baby would be making his or her grand appearance into the world so soon.
